Quite nice...and a very interesting livery. You guys across the pond ALL do such a nice job with the Halfords rattle cans. Wish we had something like that here in the USA. Everything I've tried that isn't true model paint...i.e. Tamiya, or prepared for the airbrush...is way to thick and cumbersome, and doesn't lend a good finish. This one looks great! Congrats on a very nice build. Thanks for sharing.

Boeing 777-31H/ER "EMIRATES"
Challenger350Pilot replied to tomprobert's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Nice build, Tom! Amazing that you completed the model with no filler and no sanding. Wow. Love the Emirates livery, too. I have yet to build a Zvezda 777...have one in the stash...someday! All I’ve read and seen posted, including yours, is positive regarding this kit. You’ve done quite a good job. Thanks for sharing.- 21 replies

Can't for the life of me tell which kit this is...and did you add any PE parts or details? Thanks for sharing...nice pics, too...the sunlight makes those Iberia stripes pop right out!!- 17 replies

Roden 1/32nd Stearman
Challenger350Pilot replied to keithjs's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hi Keith; She's juth beautiful! Absolutely. Thankth for sharing. Paul -
Beautiful 8, Dave...you've done it again! Dazzled us all with an amazing, eye catching, and great build with an unusual and educational livery. Love what you've done with this great kit! I know I've said inspiring before, but I do mean it!! Very inspiring. I would point out one more accuracy pitfall in this kit for the good of the order...aside from usually warped wings requiring diligent and careful correction to straighten (which you have obviously surmounted beautifully!), the nose gear is just plain not correct. Way too wide to even fit into the well if retracted, and tires too wide. Alas, Minicraft almost got every little thing right with this kit! You've done a nice job here. Just wish you'd show us the detailed gear you talked about...adding PE is great, if we can see it!! Thanks for sharing. Paul

1/144 MD-90 | Eastern Express
Challenger350Pilot replied to Sent-off's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hi Steve; Sure looks good from here! Nicely done, for sure, regardless of the troubles you faced. Sometimes the Eastern Express kits can be frustrating, but I have yet seen one that was beyond a very good finish and presentation. And the Scandinavian livery makes the MD-90 look even better! I have one of these gems being delivered any day; going to finish her in the old Delta widget livery. Thank you for sharing! Keep up the good work! Practice, practice, practice!- 10 replies

The last Douglas DC-6B
Challenger350Pilot replied to Rizon's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hi Rizon; The Heller DC-6 kit is such a good one, and you have made her beautiful! What a great build! Always enjoy reading the history of the real airplane that is being presented in model form...you’ve done well here...much appreciated. Great job on some fine detail, too. Thank you so much for sharing! -
EC-24A - the US Navy DC-8
Challenger350Pilot replied to zebra's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Some very nice work here. Thank you for sharing. Really admire the skills you've displayed in printing your own parts, and converting this kit to a masterpiece. That goes double for the KC-135 you posted as well. Both builds get a WOW! Really good job!- 26 replies

AA 1/144 Scale MD-11
Challenger350Pilot replied to Challenger350Pilot's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thank you so much! I must agree, the AA windows really lend such realism. The Alclad worked out nicely, after alot of prep...even on a resin model that was already smooth. Really appreciate your kind words!- 38 replies

Revell 1/144 747 Retro BOAC Livery
Challenger350Pilot replied to Suddensky's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Wrong engines or not...completed nose or not...you absolutely SHOULD pursue another airliner. With skills displayed in this build, you should move on ahead, and tackle resin corrections and paint mixing to match (BTW, Revell did provide the Rolls Royce engines in one of BA liveried kits). Very nice job here. The Revell 747 isn’t an easy bird to complete, but with some elbow grease and patience, she comes out beautifully. Love this model, and love this livery! Very nice job indeed. -
Now THIS is an outstanding build. As usual, your photography lends to accentuate such a fine work.

Hi Sini.... Well...this is going to be fantastic. A great build, and a wonderful masterclass to follow...and NO...absolutely NO...I do NOT find this boring in ANY way. The resin windows look amazing. Will you frame them too? And what about the cockpit panel decals...did you design and print those? I have wondered if using a photo of an actual airplane cockpit training poster could be reduced small enough to be used. Would that depend on the printer and the size of the printer head? Hmmm.....

Building a Heller 1/72 Connie
Challenger350Pilot replied to Challenger350Pilot's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Please forgive me for being so late...more than a year...in answering you. Yes, I did use Alclad polished aluminum over the Alclad black base coat. Took quite some time preparing the surfaces, as they need to be completely smooth and free of blemish as possible. The base coat and the finish will only accentuate the imperfections, if they aren’t sanded smooth and polished. And since this model is a large 1/72nd scale, it took a lot of spraying to cover the entire fuselage belly. -
I’ve seen these lenses...my local hobby shop sells lenses much like these in several sizes for model railroading. I’ve bought up quite a few bags full of these little “gems,” and used them several times as NAV lights, rotating beacons, and landing lights. The clear ones are highly reflective and quite effective...and very small. I’ve lost a couple as they flipped out of the grip of the tweezers and into oblivion.

Hi Ian; How does one improve an Authentic Airliners 757?? Like THIS of course!! Simply stunning, and inspiring, as always. But this time, you've gone a bit over the top. This HAS to be one of the most beautiful builds of the 757 I've seen. The livery you've chosen just makes a beautiful bird more beautiful. Love the detail of the nose gear; in fact, the nose shot gives a perfect close up of placement of the windows, and the superiority of the life like decals. Great photos, too...looks as if you've got the knack for choosing when the sun is just right to light her up beautifully. I have an AA 757 still in the box, unopened. She's reserved for the retro American Airlines livery...someday. I'm inspired to just go on and open the box and inspect the whole thing...and possibly get started! Really really REALLY nice build, Ian. Thanks for sharing.

1:12 Scale F-16 Cockpit - Italeri
Challenger350Pilot replied to JJ2016's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hi JJ... What a great story! And what an amazing and unusual build! Didn’t even know this existed...anywhere. What a great kit. And the WIP page is extremely educational...a master class, for sure! Thank you for sharing this! Wowowow! Paul -
Hi Ian; What a beautiful build, as usual! Love the Singapore livery as well. Kind of a shame the gold discolored because of the Microsol. Actually, a surprise. I always buy 2 sheets of the livery I’m using just in case of anything that could happen unforeseen. At any rate, you’ve done a magnificent job once again...hats off to the conversion, too. Are you using a particular PE set for pitot tubes, antennae, gear parts, etc.? Paul

Wow! What an amazing difference from the old to the new! You've done an amazing job with the restoration. I would agree that throwing this one in the bin would have been a shame! Glad she was saved and brought back to life! Nice job!
