  1. Does anyone know for sure, or have proof of, the very first B777-300ER delivered to American Airlines dressed in the earlier all natural metal livery with the red, white, and blue stripes and "AA" tail? Seems it may have been delivered in the early livery, then quickly painted in the new mica finish before it actually went into service. GeminiJets manufactured N717AN in 1/400 scale in all natural metal, but I cannot for the life of me find a picture of the real airplane anywhere.......thanks for your responses! Paul
  2. Nice work, Mark! Love the old Monogram kit. Its a wonderful representation and fairly detailed too. Did you complete the interior, too? Very nice livery of Buffalo Airways. was enjoying "Ice Pilots" just last night...the DC-3 is Buffalo Joe's favorite airplane! Very good work, indeed.
  3. This is really really nice, Laurie. Really like what you’ve done with the whole project. The diorama is very tasteful and complementary, not to imposing. Looks like a busy ramp with the Heron, too...and nice job on that little bird, too. I have no experience with the Mach 2 kits. Seems like a lot of “bashing”going on, but regardless, you’ve sure made the Viscount kit out to be a nice finish. Thanks for sharing. Paul
  4. Hi Michael! I REALLY like this one! Very nice indeed. The livery was unknown to me until I saw your finished model; now I can say its among a favorite for the A321. And you have done a very nice job presenting her. Really like the detail of the newer Revell kits. Thank you for sharing! Such good work here.
  5. Most excellent build on the 707, and the Comet as well. Really like the side by side. One cannot go wrong with the Authentic Airliners kits; they are in a league all their own. You've done a cracking job here. Not having instructions for these kits forces us to research, research, research...and I am glad that it makes us better modelers. The Olympic livery has always been one of my favorites...it just seems to suit the 707 so well. Lovely build of a most lovely airplane. And I'll join Dave in a round of !!!!!
  6. Very nice build, Mike. Really enjoy the Caravelles...they are so elegant, and you have done well! Love them BOTH! Glad you persevered....no one should be beaten by paint and polystyrene! And indeed...back to the bench to share something else! Nice work!
  7. What a beautifully dirty bird! Like Dave, I am enjoying this masterclass. Wowser.
  8. Hi Neil; If you have an airbrush, Alclad’s black base, and a lot of patience, persistence, and perseverance to prepare the surface properly, then you have everything you need to apply the Alclad finishes. Just takes some practice! Moa is spot on with his comments regarding “sweet revenge” and “a quantum of nostalgia.” You are so going to enjoy this project. Looking very forward to seeing the progress and the finish line. Looking just GREAT so far!
  9. Beautiful. Looks like a mirror.
  10. I joined in March 2017...I certainly should have seen this post. At any rate, I’m seeing it now...and it is very pleasurable to gaze on it. And I still think you should do a close up. But then, I do understand that you more than anyone else know the best angles and distances to compliment the build to be at its best. And you never fail to do just that! Nice build, for sure. Paul
  11. Hi Dave; Such a beautiful airplane. And a beautiful model! As usual, you've presented another masterpiece. Much appreciated. Didn't know the history of Condor, that it was a charter subsidiary of Lufthansa. Thank you for educating me! Now as for the model itself...wow. I didn't know about the Phase Hangar nose conversion, either...and it has just made the model as it should be. What a brilliant addition to make her more accurate. I have a couple MC 707s in the stash, and I'll for sure order a couple of those noses before tackling them. Looks, too, like you're going to need a larger display base! She hangs over on all sides! She's a beauty! Very nice job. And how in the world did I miss this one??? I saw you posted her back in April...must have had my head in the sand about then. P.S. Hows about getting in a little closer with your camera?? Really would love to see some close ups of the main gear!
  12. These are beautiful! And so unusual. I don't remember ever reading about, certainly knowing anything about, a forward swept Trident. Very interesting. And you've done a cracking job here! Nice display side-by-side. Thank you for sharing.
  13. Nice job on this proud Connie, Mark! She looks beautiful. I have always loved the old National livery, "The Airline of the Stars." You've done a fine job masking the wings correctly; sometimes those gray panels are a bit tricky to size correctly. Haven't gotten a close up look at the Minicraft kit, but now you've provided one! For your info, Extra Tech makes an excellent photo etched detail set for the Super Connie in 1/144. Next time you feel like taking on a larger project, I would highly recommend going an extra mile to make her even more real! She really is nice, thanks for sharing!
  14. This is a beautiful re-do. Love the Cathy livery, and the A330 wears it quite well. I would agree whole-heartedly with Ian...that I would consider what you've done here isn't much different than assembling and finishing an AA kit. Nice careful and very good work here. Agree that too much weathering on a 1/200 scale project can easily be overdone, but you've mastered it on this one! Thanks for sharing!
  15. Yeah....what he said! Love this.
  16. Engines looking beautiful, Sini. Nice going. Really really like the wing detail too.
  17. Very very nice work on an obviously very very difficult model. Really appreciate your honest opinions and sharing your experiences during the build. The VC-10 is such a stately old bird, and you’ve captured every bit of her beauty here, regardless of the difficulties and inaccuracies of the kit...which you’ve corrected nicely.
  18. Hi Sini... Looks like a good save to me. I am amazed that you are masking the intakes, specifically the resonator panels. That takes some patience and perseverance for sure! I actually have some gray decals dedicated to that task, cut to size. I've used the spare light colored coroguard sheets for the intakes and they seem to work quite well. I do have a suggestion as far as primer for resin...I have had great success using the Tamiya surface gray primer, sprayed on in thin coats, and allowed to cure at least a couple of days or more. People would argue with me on the application and the cure time...but it works well for me, and I'm in the school that says "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." You also know well that a properly prepared surface is key to anything held in place without chipping and peeling. For resin, a light wash with soap and water, then alcohol, then allowed to air dry, and lightly sanded with 1200 or higher...not wet, then another wash and air dry. What you've done here, though, looks very fine...nothing you can't adjust to make it as you wish.
  19. Hi Michael! Wow! She’s absolutely stunning! Very nice job on this one! At first glance, I thought you had used clear parts for the cockpit, but upon reading your intro, saw that you’ve used the AA life like windows. Brilliant! And the decals are 20 years old?? Seriously? Did you have much trouble out of them, upon application? Just a fine job here! Thanks for sharing.
  20. Really really a nice build! Wish you had posted some closer pics, though...Would love to see some detail. What an impressive model!
  21. Wow. This is really really nice. And a great WIP.
  22. Hi Steve... Very good beginning! She's coming to life! As for spraying the aluminum on over a white base...I would think that testing your spray before putting it on the model would be wise. Try a white base, a gray one, and a black one. Each will have a different affect on the final outcome. Being patient, imaginative, willing to experiment will have beautiful results. So far so good! Looking great! And a great model, too! Paul
  23. Wow, Sini...you have been BUSY! She's coming along beautifully! The windows...ah the windows. Just beautiful. I think I'm in awe of the windows...and the NAV lights...hint hint. And by the way...these kinds of WIPs are THE way to present WIPs. get down and dirty in the details, great close up photos, and being detailed about explaining and showing. For me, you are the master of master classes. Enjoying this one muchly! Paul
  24. Very nice MD-80! Well done! Really like the livery, too. Have you actually painted the wing panels details? Looks really nice. There is a very good details decal sheet by Flying Colors that includes the panels and many other fine details for the-80 series. Hannants has it: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/FC44038 Thanks for sharing, and for sharing your experiences with the Minicraft kit as well. I began one, and liked it very much. Found that it went together easily, except for that tricky clear cockpit cap! If it's not perfectly aligned, it shows clearly once the paint is applied! Yours looks quite fine! Nice build indeed!
