  1. "Rendezvous with Rama" is one of my favorites - and particularly apt given this: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/oct/27/mysterious-object-detected-speeding-past-the-sun-could-be-from-another-solar-system-a2017-u1 anthony
  2. Didn't work this time either :-) Excellent diorama esp given the size of those kits.
  3. Good tip for resin figures, I have a few of those I will no doubt mess up at some point in the future.
  4. These look excellent. I check and it seems Revell has taken a few different ICM kits and combined them into one box.
  5. Excellent video. I did not realise SpaceX was landing on solid ground (rather than the ship-based landing)
  6. There is a new exhibition planned at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum for 2019 - including Neil Armstrong's original space suit (recently scanned and preserved thanks to a Kickstarter campaign).
  7. I don't have any Hinchcliffe figures, but a quick search did unearth a few other brands (eg: Beneito) that might be good substitutes. Good luck with the search. anthony
  8. Definitely not one for the younger children in terms of language used. re: Chappie - I did like the head with the expressive "ears" - bit like a dog. Worked really well I thought. I will not spoil the ending for you. BTW - if you liked District 9, there are rumours of a sequel.
  9. Anyone else seen the film Chappie? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chappie_(film) Excellent robots, would love to see a kit of these. Film made by the team that did District 9. Another excellent South African SciFi film (IMHO), not that there are too many of these around. anthony
  10. Those look fun. If you have problems with a primer again, you could try the primer used for for plastic chairs, etc. I got hold of some Rust-Oleum Plastic Primer. Not tried this yet, but it is supposed to be good. anthony
  11. Google is your friend here - for example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tamiya-Military-Kit-35-300035288-WWII-Infantry/dp/B000WOZYTG for the French Infantry It looks like Dragon do some Polish troops in 1/35 - for example: Dragon 1/35 6344 WWII German 28th Infantry Division (Poland 1939) (4 Figures) Hope that helps anthony
  12. Just to complete this thread - I tried Fairy Power spray with limited success - it did lift some of the Tamiya primer, and some of the Vallejo paint but not much. This morning, I had a think about this and tried airbrush reamer (metal - lumpy paint). This worked a treat - lifting off the paint and primer immediately, and a quick scrub with a toothbrush and all remaining paint gone. The cleaner was Premi Air Liquid Reamer, which is solvent-based and has Xylene (so be careful, use it in a well ventilated area). Now to re-prime (very lightly!) and start again. anthony
  13. I have not ordered much from Amazon when it gets shipped from Japan. Was this a delivery from Japan, and if it was, how did VAT/Customs get handled? thanks anthony
  14. A quick search produced this info Flight plan filed. Ship G-ZBJE will opp BA225 (LHR-MSY), having arrived LHR from CAI as BA154 http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1358893 Hope that is the right one! anthony
  15. Excellent build! Thanks for posting your work steps in such detail
  16. Excellent news! Heard the ad for this today.
  17. Thanks Colin - missed this reply and only just saw your suggestion. I hope to get some paint on the figure this weekend, in which case I will decide if the primer was ok or not. anthony
  18. Many thanks for the advice (and warning). I may have got away with this - the primer seemed to pull back a bit as it dried. anthony
  19. Hi I am trying to paint my first 1/48 white metal figures, and after cleaning up the mold lines, I sprayed them with Tamiya White Primer (the Tamiya Fine White Surface Primer to be exact). Made the classic error - sprayed too much primer so the primer is welling up in areas. I really must remember and practice "light coat only, light coat only"! Not dry yet, so hoping it will pull back a bit. If not, I may need to strip it back to the metal again. Any suggestions on what to use to remove the primer? thanks anthony
  20. That finish looks pretty decent. Keep posting pictures please. anthony
  21. Well done to your daughter on her first, and an excellent bit of animation. Perhaps something to send to Disney - she might get a job on one of the next episodes.
  22. Wow - those are very small helicopters! I did try Vallejo dry brushing - it was hard to get the right balance between too dry and too much paint - some more practice required I think...
  23. Good timing on the question - just considering how to get a dry-brushing effect using acrylics on a small steering wheel and some other small parts. I will try Silver Fox's suggestion (using more paint than you might use for enamels).
  24. Following this with great interest - I would like to build some Rhodesian/Zim Hunters too. anthony
