  1. That's some pretty impressive carpentry skills.
  2. Or… It's perfectly possible to say what you'd like and then when it doesn't happen, accept that the decision they have made is is backed by extensive market research and is probably a good move for the company. (Although a 1/24 Me 262 or 1/48 Dh.88 would have been infinity better, why don't they listen to me????!!!…. Repeat every twelve months or so).
  3. Wait until they start ripping the kit apart on here, I'm surprised they haven't started to complain about the shape already.

Welcome to BM Dave, good luck with your model - don't forget that this hobby is supposed to be fun. Incidentally, I recognise the sculpture you are posing next to. Passed though the town in 2016: Gorby
  5. Stunning job! Very interesting work in progress as well. It amazes me that this level of detail is possible in 1/72.
  6. I knew it reminded me of something...
  7. Someone at Airfix must be confident if they are planning that far ahead! Any predictions for 2108 anyone - 1/12 personal jet pack - got to be by then surely?
  8. That's a lovely shelf full of builds, I'm very partial to the X-planes myself, but you don't seem to have my favourite, X-15.

    Worst model quality?

Steady on there, if you mention 'lovely' in relation to 'Lindberg', the plastic police will show up at your house and beat you around the head with end-opening boxes. I think the engine was just about 'acceptable', but it is almost all hidden when the fuselage is buttoned up. The cockpit was the biggest problem, as I have said elsewhere, it looks like the bailiffs have called and left only a shapeless mass sitting in an armchair. As you mentioned, the absence of a bulkhead between the cockpit' and the engines would have made it pretty draughty, so it' no wonder the pilot is more than a little squiffy around the edges. This kit may have been just about reasonable quality for the 1950's when it was tooled, but to keep selling it 60 years later is bordering on criminal. Not done one myself, but I have heard/read that Testors kits are a steaming pile of wombats do.
  10. Fabulous work! I would love to have that hanging on my wall (Mrs. Gorby probably less so). If that signature is 'Gould' then we are probably distantly related.

    Worst model quality?

My worst ever was a 1/48 Lindberg X-3. I found that there was a pretty good reason it was cheap. Not done one myself, but the 'quality' of 'Starfix' kits is legendary. In the occasional masochistic moment, I'm half tempted to get one and see if it's possible to produce something that looks like an aircraft. Feast your eyes on the one of their fabulous, top quality instructions: https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/2/8/9/1031289-26-instructions.pdf
  12. Thanks for your self-sacrifice Mike, you are a true benefactor of modelling kind. If you think of the positives: I'm sure your modelling related injures are well down on previous years, although I should imagine that you would probably happy substitute the stress and hassle for the occasional scalpel slip. I hope to see at least a FFVS J-22A on your 2018 yearbook.
  13. The aircraft are excellent, but the bust is utterly stunning - one of the most lifelike I have ever seen.

    Razor saw

I use the JLC saw. Not used it for resin but it's great for plastic. The only problem is that the blades are very brittle.
  15. Welcome to BM. I love the retro road-going, pushmepullyou Dalek.
  16. That was another thrilling episode Gordon. Although I'm amazed buy the original beast, I don't know a lot about it, so your explaining what the parts represent is very welcome. And be reassured that there won't be another unfortunate faux pas about mentioning 'train set' again. If I was aware that there was anyone who was averse to the phrase 'train set' I would have refrained from mentioning 'train set' at all. In fact I will rip the keys that type 'train set' off my keyboard now, so that it will not be possible for me to use 'train set' ever again.
  17. Bear in mind, I heard that the Tan model Bucc (if it EVER appears) is likely to be in the region of £70. I can't afford that, so I intend to wait to when the Tan model is available, then hopefully the Airfix kit should reduce to a more reasonable price.
  18. Excellent result – what a talented hedgehog you are. Sounds more than a little creepy to say that I've been following you, willing you on to a satisfying climax (). It's been a thoroughly entertaining journey, part 'work in progress', part 'soap opera' and part 'stand-up' (with heckling), with the bonus of added Wimpey. I've enjoyed it immensely and looking forward to the next instalment. I hope 2018 is kinder to you any yours.
  19. Amazing work Badder! As I said in another post not a million miles away, this is the stuff that you are good at, in fact you excel at it. I've been following your 'Ever Evolving Diorama' ever since I was a newly hatched 'newbie', and it has been the source of frequent amazement. One question though: if the diorama has been ongoing for so long, how do you keep the dust off?
