In the early 2000s the Royal Danish Air Force started a competition for a replacement for their F-16s. Several manufacturers submitted proposals and a lot of meetings, presentations, airshow appearances and general whining ensued in the following years. In 2008 things changed though. A new oil field was discovered in the Danish part of the North Sea and it was fairly quickly determined that the field was vast, rivalling the finds in the Persian Gulf. Denmark quickly found itself with more money than we knew what to do with. In 2010 it was decided to replace the F-16s with not 1, but two types of modern fighters. The decision was made to purchase 60 Gripens and 60 Typhoons. The Typhoons would be the principal rapid deployment force, equipped with a new array of modern weapons. The Typhoon order was for Tranche 3 models, but to get an early in-service date, 20 Tranche 2 planes would be delivered as quickly as possible. 2011 the first deployment of RDAF Typhoons to Afghanistan occured, where they performed well in close-support missions and also downed two rogue Pakistani A-5s.
The kit is RoGs Typhoon single-seater, with parts from an Academy weapons set (the one with a complimentary F-15I ), Shawn Hull, Skyraider and Two Mikes.

BTW, if anyone have pictures of the centerline pylon for carrying a targeting pod, I'd love to see them!
