  1. Dan, you need to look here for Israeli stuff. There's a lot of decals for modern Israeli aircraft, as well as some stuff for the older types. They've also made a Meteor sheet with markings for Israeli, Syrian and Egyptian planes, as well as a sheet with various Middle-Eastern F-5s. The books available there are some of the best references for Israeli stuff that there is. I currently have about 15 of the listed titles, with hopes of acquiring more. So far, their books about the Ayit and Netz have eluded me though and there's others I haven't gotten around to ordering yet. The references they use for some of the modern decals can't be faulted either, the owner of IsraDecal designed a lot of the real-life tailart on the Israeli planes. Their resin stuff do tend to need a bit of help though and there's been grumbles about the adhesive capability of the newer (Czech produced) decals.

  2. I was reading Military In Scale/Model Aviation World, March 2011, and contemplating getting my 72 scale Hasegawa kits of Mitsubishi F-1 & T-2 out of the loft. Does anybody do aftermarket decals for these kits - I had a hunt and couldn't find any.
    Platz do/did some I think.
  3. bit expensive for my taste! i would need 2 sets to make up the 8 gbu-12's so that would be £54.61 to load out my F15!

on the other hand i have been offered 6 gbu's already so all i need is 2 amraam's and 2 gbu's which im hoping some kind britmodeller's will kindly donate, saving me the afore mentioned £54.61

    cheers

You can find them cheaper'n Hannants if you shop around a bit :)

  4. Martin, look forwards to the Phantom then, Gekko did a profile for a RDAF FGR2 ages ago if ya remember, but I still havent got around to it

Cant wait to see what Micha comes up with next, but love the C-17 idea :worthy:

    Bexy

Yup, I remember it well. I'll do an E tho', same colour :)
  5. In 72nd there isn't a proper Longbow available. Those that are available are either As with a radar or the prototype. Both need a lot of work to become a D. For A-models, Hasegawa is probably best, but Academy isn't far behind - and Acad's Hellfire-launchers look better'n Hase's

  6. Many (more than half, I think) of Tamiyas 1/72 kits are reboxed Italeris. If you look here, the only jet/helo kits that are Tamiyas own are AFAIK the F-84G and F4D-1. I don't know about WWII kits.

  7. Thanks, found the bottom 2 but not the top one. do you think they are live or drill rounds?

Top picture, the one on the left's a dummy - says INERT on the body, twice. Not sure about the one on the right, but it looks like something's written on the motor casing, presumably "INERT". I'm pretty sure the ones on the bottom pic are dummies.
  8. Yes i think you have it, i just googled asw-55 and that looks exactly like the pod, 2 things though, were they used on US F-111's. 2 its not me asking about it, its the original poster, speedy
Sorry, couldn't quite keep up with who was asking what!

AFAIK the USAF only use the Popeye on the B-52 (3 missiles and 1 pod), it was only the Aussies who used them on their pigs.

  9. Mr. Smith, I assume you're talking about the pod in the lower left corner of this pic:

    10106754z12.jpg

That's the guidance pod for the Popeye, called AN/ASW-55 in the U.S. It's different from the AN/AXQ-14 / AN/ZSW-1 used for the GBU-15 / AGM-130.

The filter-like thing you're referring to (Part WC14 on the pic above I assume) is a cooling grill. I can't recall ever seeing pictures of it with the grill facing down, only to the side

  10. GBU-24 and -31 are usually Olive Drab FS34087. The bomb bodies will almost invariably be more faded than the smart-bits, especially with a Mk.84 warhead, much less so with a BLU-109 penetrator.Earlu AIM-54, -7 and -9L/M were white, the -54 and -7 had a light grey radome, the -9 had a dark anodized metal guidance section. Later variants have Light Ghost Grey FS36375 bodies, the -7 and -54 with white radomes, the 7 with natural titanium fins. Can't remember the sub-type (from -7F?), but the later -7s had silver-ish tips on the front fins, which was actually lead counterbalance weights. The -9s retain the anodized guidance section (from the fuse forward). The -9X usually gave a dark grey front section (judging from pictures either FS36081 or 36118) with natural titanium fins both front and back.

  11. I'm pretty sure there isn't a conversion in 1:48 yet due to the changes required, but I suspect that there might be a kit soon... If I said anymore, I might get a parcel bomb in the post
There is going to be a 1/48 T-45 coming next year. Cannot elaborate more or by whom.

    Cheers

    Mike

you CAN NOT drop a bombshell like that and not give us some more info!

    Its torture

    Julien

One might imagine that it's from a company that recently had their kit début with a model of another USN trainer. Would be my guess.
