  1. Dear all I have managed to get the Testors Coastguard Cutter 1/600 kit for only £1, but since I have never really built a ship model before, and can't find too much on the internet regarding this model, I am wondering whether anyone on this forum has had any experience with the kit, and could helpfully provide a ship 'newbie' with some tips regarding the kit itself. All answers and replies appreciated, BetaSingh
  2. Yes, I have tried to look on https://www.scalemates.com/ for any tips but I found nothing. BetaSingh
  3. Dear esteemed Britmodellers, I have just gotten a Welsh Models Alaskan 737-400 for a tenner, but I am wondering what I would need to do to convert this into a 737 NG (737-700 or 737-800) aircraft in the old Alaskan livery. The decals I have are for a 737-400, and I don’t really want to modify these. Furthermore, I have some spare winglets that would fit the 737. Any advice on such a ‘conversion’ for a newbie like me would be greatly appreciated. BetaSingh
  4. Thanks, my LHS sells it for 12.50 so after I finish the three which I have, I will get that.
  5. Thanks John for the recommendation, I will definitely look into the Skyray, but as I do not have the Metalcote spray, I am a bit worried about the results.
  6. Thanks for all the replies guys, your advice is really useful, and as for my next one, it is either a red arrows hawk or an academy Zero Best Wishes BetaSingh
  7. Hello all This is my Italeri F-51D Mustang, and before I go on with the photos, there are a few things I would like to clear up first, The kit? The kit is pretty good, the only problem I had was the fit between the wings and the fuselage, but apart from that, went on a dream. Some of the yellow decals for the blue edges of the wingtips were slightly too long, but I forgot to cut them off, and I painted it with Humbrol 56 Aluminium and a mix of Aluminium and Silver. I also had my first attempt at some sort of weathering, by trying to create some panel colour variations (I don't know whether that counts as weathering so correct me if I'm wrong), and I also did some oil stains, which unfortunately aren't visible on these pictures. Overall, I feel it is pretty good, and that the colour variations on the fuselage were nice, but that I still have some way to go before my models reach the standard of those seen on Britmodeller. And so, on with the pictures https://imgur.com/gallery/IXkZu Kind Regards BetaSingh
  8. Thanks for the advice, and how would the Hs-129 stack up against the Spitfire MkVb by Italeri, as I've heard the MkIV isn't good at all but I do not know about the MkVb, which is also £3 cheaper. Best Wishes BetaSingh
  9. Thanks for reminding me about the F-51, I'll put up an RFI ASAP, it was my first attempt at weathering. Best Wishes BetaSingh
  10. Thanks for the reply, but my LHS doesn't stock the Italeri ones, just the Tamiya ones, so out of those two, which one would you pick? Best wishes BetaSingh
  11. Hello all I have found a good deal on two nice looking Tamiya 1/72nd scale kits, but I do not know which one to get. Both are the same price, £8.99, and they are the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier and the Henschel Hs129. Both seem like nice kits made in the 90s (As I am comparing a WW2 aircraft with a modern one, I didn't know where to put this, so if necessary admin please move) but I really don't know which one is better so all advice and tips about either kit is appreciated, as well as which one you would personally get. Regards BetaSingh
  12. Thanks for the reference, although unfortunately, my modelling is very budget, so if I could buy the tools that you guys have, I would, but I try to do the best that I can with what I have, although I'll definitely have a look at that masking tape.
  13. Thanks, as you wanted me to ask, how do you know about the masking tape, and I'm sorry to disappoint, but Number 5 is an Italeri F-51D Mustang.
  14. Thanks all, I don't have an airbrush (should've specified earlier) so I can't use the Alclad route, but I'll probably test them and go with whichever looks closest. Best Wishes BetaSingh
  15. Would a Humbrol Aluminium Metalcote be a closer option for the fuselage, as I think you guys have said to use plain Aluminium for the wings? The problem is I don't know whether my local hobby shop stocks Humbrol 27001/02, and would getting variations in the Aluminium paint just be the better option if I can't get Metalcote? Best Wishes BetaSingh
  16. Hello all I am making the Italeri F-51D Mustang, which I believe is similar to the P-51 (correct me if I'm wrong), and I was wondering which paint I would use for the USAF Silvery fuselage colour. I have Humbrol Aluminium, Revell Silver Metallic and Humbrol Silver Metallic, would any of those be the correct colour, and if not, would it be possible to get the correct colour from a place like B&Q (a DIY store) or would you have to get it from the hobby shop. Kind Regards and All Answers Appreciated BetaSingh
  17. Hello all This is an Airfix Bf109, and is my fourth ever model, so of course it won't be as good as the masterpieces you guys create, but I tried my hardest and it was a really nice kit, with everything just falling into place, and I highly recommend it. I hope you guys enjoy! Best Wishes BetaSingh Image Gallery
  18. Hi Sam Hope to see the Concorde flourish Good luck BetaSingh
  19. Hi Good luck on your Concorde, and a great looking Spitfire by the way, and the Vampire on the edge of the photo looks stunning, funnily enough the Vampire is exactly what I am building now. Once again good luck and best wishes BetaSingh
  20. Hi Andrii Sorry for the late reply, I have looked on Scalemates, and I believe that the FROG kit depicts the De Havilland DH100 Vampire, while the Airfix Starter Kit depicts the De Havilland T11 Vampire Hope this helps BetaSingh
