  1. Got the same kit. Looks awfully small for 1/35 scale!
  2. Thanks for your comments. They do explain a !ot.
  3. As a tribute to a recently deceased modeller on another forum, all modellers from that forum are being asked to build a Spitfire, as this was the last kit he built. My chosen model is the Mark VII High Altitude. ICM have done a good job with the kit, but the only colour references show the Spit in a medium grey livery with a flat light blue underside. My question is, was the Mk VII ever flown in a standard camouflage, or was it only used in the grey livery? Any information will be appreciated.
  4. Excellent work there, I'm hoping The Leader of the Opposition (aka The Missus) will allow me to become a customer.
  5. I've always wanted to do a German tank, for far more reasons than I can remember. Zvedza bought out the Panzer IV Ausf. a couple of years ago and one has been in my stash for a while now. I wanted to do the tank with p!enty of detail to get stuck into, so I hunted around for some interior parts. Eduard provided some decent PE while CMK chipped in with Engine bay, Driver and Radio Op's seating and Turret bustle. This kit does have it's own turret bustle, so I'll build both to decide which one is best. I'm still waiting on a turned gun barrel, I've been told it could take up to four weeks, so we'll have to wait and see.
  6. One of the problems you get when combining scales is the size of associated weaponry. A 1/35 scale Lee-Enfield may look fine in a 1/32 mitt, but a 1/32 Lee-Enfield would definitely look overscale in 1/35 hands. If you are building a diorama, place the 1/32 miniatures to the front with the 1/35 at the rear. This will then increase depth perspective and look correct. Do the same with figures, the will look better with 1/32 at the fore. My best advice, have a few dry runs, trying different positions. Take photos and then see which looks better. At the end of the day, you are the one who has to be happy with it.
  7. Great figure, but it puzzles me as to why he has his sword in his hand as well as one in a sheath! When I made mine, I made a vine cane for his right hand which gave it a more interesting pose, especially when modeller alongside the other kits in the same catalogue.
  8. Dammned fine effort there Madam, carry on!
  9. I forgot to include a "very impressive" for your modelling skills Sergei. That is one good looking Bedford!
  10. I've reviewed Gecko on Army Rumour Service and can say that their models are first class. As well as Bedfords (MWD, MWC and a late cab version), they also produce a range of Cruiser tanks, including one under new management (German) plus a few ATWP's. Figures-wise, they have brought out an excellent Machine Gun section on the move plus the same section in firing positions. They also have a first class Special Forces unit which would make a brilliant diorama with a Medic ATWP. I hope they will carry on filling th market with more British trucks (my own choice). Something like a Crossley, ERF or Foden, Thorneycroft or Albion. All of those names are missing from the available suppliers and yes, I know you can buy a 1/35 Crossley Tender from FanKit models, but do you really want to spend nigh on £100 for a kit?
  11. Too kind there mate, I only dabble there are others much better than me.
  12. Hi John and Dennis, nice to hear from you. I'll see if I can upload some pictures in the near future. John, I've got it in my stash but haven't attempted it yet. When I get back on to trucks, I've got a part built REME fitter's (Resicast) truck to complete and then a Dennis for a commission. There's also the matter of a couple of Montgomery's caravans to complete, but after that I'm free😜
  13. Hi Dads, I know you're definitely an Arrse member and have long admired your work. You will know me as Smeggers.
  14. Morning all, apparently I've been a site member since 2017 but not got around to posting anything! If admin could allow me to change my user name I would be most grateful. Anyway, a little about me; I am currently a Moderator and Kit/Book reviewer on Army Rumour Services modelling forum but getting fed up with the way the site is going. I've been modelling for many years, originally 1/35 scale Military Trucks, but also Napoleonic and Zulu war figures. I've also done a few WW2 figures in 120mm. I enjoy building dioramas from actual events in history and am currently engaged upon the Eastern Front 1941-45 group build with ARRSE. I live in Leyland in Lancashire, but was born and brought up in Sevenoaks, Kent. I served for 24 years in the Army, mainly as a scaleyback. (Royal Corps of Signals).
