  1. Real nice detailing work, great finish as well, any chance of seeing the underside?
  2. Wow, great build, where's my tea, I want to see more of this un!
  3. Thank you all for your input, latest update is that I ordered the Tamiya 1/350 Tirpitz earlier today and I think for a good price of £37.50, after all when you think about how long it's going to take me to build this it's probably going to be very good value for money. But now I have a few questions to ask of all you good folks! I'm painting it all by hand with the hairy stick so to speak so what paints do you advise me to use and purchase, as I have to wait on the model coming to see what colours I need, am I better with? Acrylics or Enamels? What's the best make to buy, Humbrol, Tamiya Ect? What finish eg Matt, Silk, or Gloss? Anything else I've missed out paint wise but I think you all get the idea where I'm coming from, any help I get is much appreciated, looking forward to starting a Works in progress thread with this build. Hope to see you all there! Ally.
  4. I've saved this thread in to favourites as I'll be attempting this model some time next month, going to try and find Guy Gibsons Decals on the night of the attack now.
  5. Fantastic work, is there a build thread?
  6. Bearing in mind that I've only started the hobby again fairly recently and only built WW2 aircraft I'm looking for a long term project to do in between builds, I've seen a very nice and good priced Tamiya 1/350 scale Tirpitz, is this suitable for my needs or is it maybe a step too far at the moment? As I say I'm not intending to batter out this build and I feel a bigger scale will probably be better for my clumsy fingers.

  8. 1/48 Scale. This is only my second and third builds roughly a 45 yr absence so please be gentle with me First up is a Messerschmitt Bf 109E-7 flown by Joachim Muncheberg 7./JG26 " Schlagerter" Gela Sicily Spring 1941. Second up, Supermarine SpitfireMk Vb No 229 Squadron Royal Air force Qrendi Malta December 1942. And this is my first attempt at weathering a model. Both together. Thanks for viewing. Ally.
  9. That is absolutely magnificent, I've been thinking about doing a ship, last one I did was the QE2 way back when I was about 10 yrs old, of coarse I would need to find something a lot easier to build.
  10. OK here's my first attempt at weathering, Tin hat on! Thanks for the welcome folks.
  11. Hi Folks. Usual story about building Airfix kits as a youngster and always wanted to return to the hobby but never had the time, so my daughter pushed me a bit and for Christmas bought me a 1/24 Spitfire as a pressie. Now I felt this was a bit daunting after all those years away from the hobby so I decided to buy the Focke Wulf 1/72 starter kit just to try and get some practice in, finished that then started a ME 109E from the 1/48 Dogfight Doubles set, It came out not too bad but a lot's changed since I last built models such as weathering the subject. Now on to my 3rd build which is the Spitfire from the doubles set again a 1/48 scale, done most of the work with just props, wheels, and canopy to add but I'm currently in the process of trying to weather it at the moment so wish me luck. Now also trying to add my pic to my Avatar. Happy modelling. Ally.. Test pic of my ME109.
