  1. The War in the Air 1939-45, Pimlico, edited by Gavin Lyall. https://ibb.co/0Q6qVnY
  2. Thanks heaps Jeff, no reviews/trivia sites mention any Cruisers at all, just the Destroyers on imdb - https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0032359/trivia/ Did spot the triple 6", it was apparently done on the fly with all ships still in service for filming, so no surprises they used multiples. Also found this, one of UK cinemas' first large-scale uses of scale models and many of these shots were reused in similar period movies - https://www.modelshipsinthecinema.com/2021/01/convoy-1940.html?m=1
  3. Just watching this on Tubi, wonderfully cheesy but great ship shots (and a Hawker Osprey launch), identified HMS Imogen (D44), HMS Isis (D87) and HMS Griffin (H31) but does anyone know which Arethusa Class Light Cruiser played "HMS Apollo"? TIA, Jamie in Oz (RAN 1990 - 2013)
  4. I got their 1/72 F-15D/DJ cheaply recently and yes a poor knock-off of the old raised-panel-line Hasegawa kit from 1980, even has the same boxart (there are dodgy yellow panels covering Hasegawa's text on the ends, old school Photoshop!) and they tried to copy the decals but failed miserably! https://ibb.co/gt2550L https://ibb.co/L0dvHtg
  5. Spent two weeks off Bubiyan Island on HMAS Darwin acting as AAW escort to poor old Bonnie Dick in Mar/Apr 2003, watching her +'s loudly launch loaded like that and just as loudly recover with all A2G ordnance expended!
  6. Two Bobs did a sheet for early Phantom Weasels in both 1/72 & 1/48, with great instructions on mods - https://www.scalemates.com/kits/twobobs-aviation-graphics-48-114-f-4c--245379
  7. Here's an old look on Swanny's, lots of pics are dead due to age - http://www.swannysmodels.com/B26B.html The B/C had the same wingspan, but the boxing here is a B/G (same as Revell's 04525, below) which isn't doable, the F/G had a higher wing incidence (+3.5º) than the B/C, for a total angle of incidence of 7% https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-04525-b-26-b-g-marauder--111945
  8. At an airshow in Bendigo Victoria as a youngin in Nov 1984, the announcer let us know the Sabre (A94-983) was inbound. We all craned our necks from the stands, nada. "BOOM!!!", he went straight over the stands from behind, scared the bejesus out of everyone, pure gold! Halfway through the excellent routine the announcer said, "The Sabre won't be landing here, our runway is too short!" Moments later a second, "BOOM!!!", accompanied by a gout of black smoke from the tailpipe as the Avon died and he dead-sticked her in and ran off the end! https://aviationmuseum.com.au/raaf-ca-27-sabre/ "In November 1984, the aircraft carried out a forced landing and over-run at Bendigo, Victoria" Saw her again a few years back at Temora NSW, all safe and fully functional this time!
  9. Excellent, thank you SO much, EXACTLY what I was after! I'm an ex-Sailor (RAN, 23+ years) who mainly builds winged-things but occasionally dabbles in armour, so my foo in the latter is extremely weak! I actually have the Tamiya 1/35 M4 Sherman Early Production and found what I posted above while searching for a possible Brit version, seems to be naff all out there about Mark I's though, and pretty sure my kit lacks most of what's needed feature-wise anyway, hence getting a tad excited over the Osprey pic! Thanks again, Jamie in Oz
  10. This may still be avail? https://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/dragon/dr6266.htm https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32532880131.html&ved=2ahUKEwjopYvru53mAhW04HMBHdblBWI4ChAWMAh6BAgIEAE&usg=AOvVaw1_spqSWP2ClHTH4ShIuiM0 If not this is coming soon - https://www.hlj.com/1-35-scale-wwii-ussr-t-34-85-bedspring-armor-berlin-offensive-version-2-for-all-vympea085
  11. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10206702 Dragon's 1/35 M4 Sherman III DV Early Production (6573) has an option stated to be from A Sqn, 26th Armoured Brigade in Tunisia, 1943 (bottom one) - https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10206702/60/2 But Osprey's Vanguard 15 (Page 9) has this vehicle as a Sherman I - https://ibb.co/dmRXRcp Clearly the same vehicle, markings are identical, and unlike the Dragon profile the caption states the clearly visible obvious - missing a LOT of standard bits! So who is right, is it a I or a III? This looks like the same unit (Dragon even includes the second "4" along as an alternative), captioned as "Sherman tanks on parade during a visit by the Turkish Military Mission, 28 Mar 1943. IWM photo NA 1574" -
  12. In my PayPal this morning was this US$30 refund, so I'd say this project is dead but they are 101% men of their word re refunds. Thanks chaps! https://ibb.co/mvrnm02

  14. Have the Reifra Tu-154 in the stash, soft white plastic and the decals are the same artwork as the orignal but MUCH better quality. https://www.avito.ru/moskva/kollektsionirovanie/model_samoleta_tu-154_ex-plasticart_gdr_tu-154_49986941

  17. For anyone interested I am working on decals for this (assuming it won't come with any?), will be able to properly size and print after I get the kit as this has just been guesstimated. https://ibb.co/kSkypo Oldmodels Decals in NZ already does a set too, OMD0100 Ansett NZ B737-100-200 1/72 - http://www.oldmodelsdecals.com/B737-A320-BAe146.html
  18. Just reading in September's Flypast about Mosquito B.XVI PF407/A of 105 Squadron that dropped the last bombs on Berlin at 2.26am (GMT) on 21/4/45, rather than the long-credited B.XVI MM929 of 109 Squadron which dropped at 2.14am. Adding the historical significance (105 Sqn also undertook the first Mossie bombing sortie against Pont-à-Vendin on 29/8/42) to the fact that she had a Kiwi pilot and an Aussie nav means my Airfix 1/48 kit will now get a change of identity, but not that much out there on 105 Sqn in the last days of the War. HKM show this B.IX in May 45 with just the aircraft code in Dull Red with black serials, would the B.XVI's have been the same or full GB-A codes, and if so in what colour? TIA, Jamie
  19. I THINK the boxart of the Harrier GR.3 is supposed to depict HMS Hermes in the background, trouble is they've used the recent (since decommissioned) INS Viraat version of her! Boxart - Hermes 1985 - Viraat 2016 -
  20. Wow, thanks SO much Simon, those details are EXACTLY what I was after, to use an Aussie Term - "Yer blood is worth bottlin'!"
  21. Thanks rossm, suspected it wouldn't be THAT easy, less than 5 credited kills = obscurity, no matter the obstacles overcome in the process!
  22. Hi all, Jamie newly signed up from Australia. Anyone know any details of Flight Lieutenant Colin Hodgkinson Spits, ie codes & serials? Looks like Vb's with 131 & 611 and IX's with 501? http://www.rquirk.com/Behague/hodgkinson.html TIA, Jamie
