  1. I've actually picked up twoof these. They are quite nicely rendered but being 3D printed will be a bit different to build. I have their AA5 and their Cessna 150
  2. Light aircraft have never sold that well as kits, even in the days when kits of every conceivable man made artefact seemed to be in production. I expect they were/are considered a bit too mundane. If a light aircraft does get made in kit form, it's usually because the kit can be released in military markings. I have quite a collection of 1/72 civilian light aircraft kits in my unbuilt collection but the vast bulk of them are kits that first saw the light of day in the mid 1960s to mid 1970s so are a bit prehistoric.
  3. It was nice to chat to you at Farnborough Modelfest a couple of weekends ago. Good luck with the gliding.
  4. Light aircraft are very poorly represented in kit form. At heart, the Auster family were small light aircraft. I'd love to see decent kits of Cubs, Austers, Beagles, old Pipers, Beeches and Cessnas etc
  5. Nice. I built one of those back in the 70s. I always felt that the attachment lugs for the ski-variant were a bit on the hefty side.
  6. Another fatality I'm afraid.
  7. Sadly, no more from me. However I'm sure pictures will emerge on our website and on Facebook in due course.
  8. A picture taken just before the doors opened to the general public. This is only half the hall, by the way -
  9. We'll take on board your point about the seats. There were some spares available which we could have provided if asked. Next time, make sure you grab someone in a Farnborough IPMS red shirt and I'm sure we'll sort you out. I sometimes take a camping chair with me to model shows "just in case". To be fair, it usually stays in the boot of my car but it's useful to "be prepared". You can tell I was in the Boy Scouts.

    Nostalgic Adds

2 +2 = 4 always brings me out in waves of nostalgia.
  11. It was a very enjoyable day - if very tiring. We hope to be back again next year - possibly even bigger and better.
  12. I've seen this kit built and it is important (in its Academy guise) that the wing dihedral issue is sorted. Otherwise it will look awful, no matter how well built or painted it might be. If the wing problem is dealt with, it looks really good and is still the only injected moulded kit of the early B-17s in 1/72.
  13. Today's the day. If you can make it, please do. The new venue is amazing. Everything is in one huge hall so no more tucked away rooms or corridors to deal with.
  14. I suggest they should have a go at getting the SARO Lerwick right this time.
  15. Yes - training was the reason. It was envisaged that there would not be sufficient personnel available to train quickly enough. It wasn't always like this though. The Wellington and Stirling were originally designed for two pilot operations. But it was decided to reduce the requirement to one pilot with the flight engineer performing what would have been some of the co-pilot duties. In may cases, pilots gave their flight engineers some basic flying training so that they might at least keep the aeroplane straight and level if the pilot was incapacitated, allowing the crew to bail out.
  16. Very nice. I always like to see general aviation aircraft modelled.
  17. Amazing. I might start my Stirling soon and this is a true inspiration.
  18. We need more like him. Shame he's deciding to call it a day - but at 75 he deserves it I expect.
  19. Very nice. One of my favourite Lightning schemes.
