I have just joined Britmodeller today. I have returned to the hobby after 35 years.
I live in Sandhurst and when things return to some sort of normality I will join the local IPMS group in Farnborough.
I must admit I have not found the return to modelling as easy as I thought. I don't have an airbrush and bought Tamiya paints which I real struggled to use with a brush!!
I see you have a Caterham / Westfield in you picture. I hillclimb and sprint a TR7.
Regards,
Graham Ramsey

Hi Graham
Hope to see you at an actual IPMS meeting some day (whenever our meeting hall opens up again).
At the moment we are restricted to monthly Zoom meetings - which have their limitations and probably would not be the best introduction to the club, to be honest.
If you want a flavour of what goes on at the club in "normal" times, we have a website -

I agree that Tamiya paints are not great for brush painting. My favourite acrylics are from the Xtracrylic range - which is produced by Hannants. You can buy them online or by visiting the Hannants franchise shop which is near to the RAF Museum Hendon.
I switched to airbrushing about ten years ago, after a few false starts going back 40 years. It has made a big difference to my model making.
I also gave up on enamels around the same time as acrylics are far easier to manage with an airbrush regarding cleanup and odours.
I did a spot of sprinting in my Caterham 7 but haven't done it for over a decade. I'm not driving the car often enough, to be honest - but I don't really want to get rid of it.
If you want to chat off the forum, my e-mail address is
