  1. The RLM 79? desert yellow is a strange colour as it seems to vary greatly from paint range to paint range....from a Sand to almost Tan Brown. I think yours looks great whether it's correct or not and you have that nice faded look that I'm sure would have be correct at some point after much sun bleaching. Great build 👍
  2. Had a great couple of days... decided at the last minute to also do the Sunday and so glad that I did. Saturday was a mooch around the traders, then the club table displays, then more traders, then trying to remember which models I had seen on which trade stand! I was going around in circles most of the time! 😂 Sunday was more relaxed spent mainly taking photos of the club displays and managed to get a leisurely look around the competition area. Wow! There was some incredible models all over the place. I really do think you need the 2 days to do the show justice, so will be doing that again I think. Purchases? Way too much really, bought the FG1 Phantom, F6 Lightning and Avro 707 from Brian @ 144th.co.uk plus some other accessories, plus some other 144th scale aircraft such as the Armory Valkyrie and SU-24 plus some second hand items at decent prices.Got chatting to one of Armory's UK agents who was telling me about the situation in Ukraine. Very humbling so I was only too pleased to put some funds in his pocket to help via buying some of his models. Also picked up an aircraft carrier kit after seeing the wonderful club displays on this subject. Impulse buys were a Matchbox T-2 Buckeye for a nostalgia build, plus the Academy F-4B 1/48 Sundowners boxing. Boy I've wanted to model this for years even though it's not my current no. 1 scale anymore...who can resist! Wallet now empty 😳😳 A fantastic show this year that seemed to have the feel of pre-covid times. Roll on next year when it's 3 days?
  3. Hi Michael....yes I did come across your earlier post....very informative reading so this together with the posts below will be invaluable in putting the air wing together.
  4. Thanks very much for the info... especially the carrier air wing aircraft...very useful when (eventually) loading the decks with whatever aircraft I can lay my hands on.
  5. Hi everyone. I've also posted this in the wanted section but it's also a general question too. I've just bought an old Fujimi 1/700 HMS Eagle which seems to depict it around mid late 1950s but unfortunately and frustratingly the aircraft supplied in the kit are incorrect (ie Seafire, Gannet, Sea Fury, Wessex) which as far as I'm aware would not have been on the Eagle at this time. So I don't suppose anyone would know where I can get any or all of the following.... Venom, Wyvern, Sea Hawk and Wessex aircraft at all to make the model correct or am I relying on Shapeways? Unfortunately their prices from their website when taking into consideration postage etc are extortionate! Thanks in advance. Cheers!
  6. Wow! Now that's a bit different. I've never seen that camo before... Iraqi? Not sure it blends in very well with the desert regions though 😂 Great work on a not often seen subject... congratulations for perservering 👍👍
  7. That's very nice indeed! An unusual subject superbly modelled. Great work 👍
  8. That's a beauty! Yes the Roden decals are terrible aren't they! Shame really...as the subjects they choose are tremendous! You've certainly made a wonderful job of this one...all your hard work has certainly paid off. Top marks 👍👍
  9. Wish it had though.... probably would have had loads of heavy stuff drop in!
  10. RAF Stafford never had any runways. An open grass area that could be classed as a small 'strip' I suppose, plus the helipads now used by TSW for hot refueling helos.
  11. I agree with the comments on the Sunday. I've done both days a couple of times and yes the stock levels seem slightly down on the Sunday (that's if you've been on the Saturday to make the comparison) but you can seem to find stuff more easily...plus there are less people about. I've bought a decent haul on the Saturday thinking there'd be nothing to buy on the Sunday... only to come back with even more stuff on the second day...some of which I'd clearly missed in the Saturday. So yes Sunday is well worth the effort!
  12. Yes that's the reason. Just aviation related road names because of the former 16MU storage site for the RAF. I live on part of what was the old site...now houses 👍
  13. Thanks for the kind comments. Out of the two kits the Miniwing T7 is much much easier as most of the parts are already in one piece. From memory i think it was fuselage, wings and horizontal stabiliser / elevator....and that was it for the main construction. The 144th NF11 is more tricky in that all the parts are separate so need lots of prep....but nothing beyond the skills of an average modeller 👍
  14. Ouch! I've completely messed that up! It should be WD... I'll have to fix that. Thanks for pointing that out...and thanks for the kind comments 👍
  15. Brilliant brush work...and the weathering is fantastic! A great looking Tomcat....can never have enough 👍👍
  16. Hello all A micro Meteor finished today. Great little kit although being short run resin it does take some care and attention but well worth it for the subject matter. Hats off to 144.co.uk for choosing some great aircraft in their line up. Paints are Gunze and Tamiya with weathering from Mig Ammo panel line wash. Decals from the spares box and the kit to represent a No. 5 squadron aircraft. This differed from most of the other early mark NF squadrons that it wore the latter dark sea grey/green camo rather than the medium sea grey/green. Hope you enjoy...comments much appreciated IMG_20231029_181320 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr IMG_20231029_181340 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr IMG_20231029_181540 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr IMG_20231029_181517 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr IMG_20231029_181502 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr IMG_20231029_181445 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr IMG_20231029_181422 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr IMG_20231029_181633 by Binbrook 87, on Flickr
  17. Wow that's beautiful. I've been looking for one of these for a while and you've made me try and seek one out. Great build and finish 👍👍
  18. I always use white tac for camo...even in smaller scales. You can choose to mask in-between or like me I don't bother... i just keep tight and use a small nozzle to prevent any overspray
  19. Very very nice. I built a few of these a couple of years ago mainly so I could have a go at doing various Aggressor schemes. And for the price it really isn't a bad paint mule at all... plus the decals are quite nice. Great work on yours despite your trials. Yep I too find masking putty hard work as it creeps too much for my liking 🙄
  20. Absolutely superb! I didn't realise the Indians had 2 seat snoopy nosed T birds. Something very different indeed.. thanks for sharing 👍
  21. Wow! That's outstanding result from such an old 'simple' kit. Love the low level recreation.. I'm loving all of your work at the moment. Keep em coming 👌
  22. Wow! One of the best phantom models I've seen. Absolutely stunning 👍 I haven't seen that scheme before and although quite restrained compared to some other units I think it really suits it. Very very nice indeed
  23. That's a great build considering you don't normally do armour. I dabble now and again and really love Tamiya 1/48 kits and they virtually fall together and are large enough to handle easily enough without being too fiddly and you can store lots in a display cabinet without taking up too much room. Interestingly I did model a Tamiya challenger in 1/35 but thought it was just too big! Also the King Tiger just seemed waay too big for painting and displaying. Just like aircraft..some subjects seem to suit different scales but I think for armour I'll be sticking to 1/48th.
