  1. Thanks man! Thanks! I'm sure they will, its what is putting me off going nuts with the detailing. The stuff I have done is all rough, simply hinting towards detail, nothing properly pulled from plans or anything. I don't see the point in a kit of this age as I am certain the fuselage shape is off. I was planning on going quite heavy on the riveting detail on the exterior though. Also I'm sure Airfix will do a G. If you look at a lot of their new offerings from the start of this year, they're all just reboxings/remarkings of other new tools they've done! Thanks again man!
  2. So since last post, here's how its changed... As it stands... The cockpit... Even made some buckles, out of scale or not it was fun I decided to fill the rear of the plane with spars considering the G variant has a gondola tail so I hope it will be at least a little visible. The guns in the turret are waaaaay too close together I think, but I might try and detail the very bare gun turret. Reaaaaaally simple gun turret. Hopefully get this primed and painted tonight, more to come!
  3. Hey everyone, So I finally managed to get this MiG finished to a point where I am reasonably happy with it. It was for UKscalemodeller on Youtube's group build but I thought it would be worthwhile showing the process and the finished result here too! If you're quick I'm sure you could get an entry in if you wanted to. Here it is! The camo was a time tricky to do. 4 tones, 4 post shades, 4 highlights. 12. Twelve. T w e l v e colours. I can see why everyone goes with the natural metal finishes. This came from the Zvezda tooling in 1/72nd scale... It is actually a nice tooling for the price, crisp recessed surface detail. The packaging was a bit rough, everything thrown in the box inside another box without bags, decals and perspex and all. The only way the packaging could have been more Russian was if the kit came in a metal can I should mention that the paint scheme I went for wasnt one in the box, I just spare decals to make it possible. The thread to the build I posted... Lastly the video I put together, it shows the whole build in a hopefully in a fuller light than the build updates in the thread above. Hopefully this one doesn't get taken down like the Harrier's did. You can watch the video embedded here from Youtube. Hopefully the admins wont mind seeing as everything is here... Thoughts? Cheers!
  4. Cheers mate! Interesting B17's, not off topic at all! Thanks! We'll see how it turns out haha
  5. Never a dull moment with this plane, I'm only all too aware of this plane and its extracurricular activities. It was converted back to a regular bomber after the trials with the RAF, read somewhere that it was for research purposes with putting a large calibre gun in a plane (for the Mossie) Then I forget which bomber variant it was converted to after the war. Thanks for the concern though!
  6. If its not too much trouble I'd really appreciate the photos! Thanks Each ship is so varied in the way it's ended up looking, if I do go for the heavily battered approach, I would like to end up somewhere in between the lot of them. The more imagery I can draw on the better, so if you don't mind I'd be really grateful Miggers! Cheers!
  7. Thanks for these! Really useful. Duly noted. Might shotgun it, aim for somewhere in the middle of these examples. The FR-209 was reaaaally battered as I understand it. Thanks again!
  8. So after some genuine Scotland Yard style investigatory work about the mystery of B-25G's in RAF colours, which can be found here, The mystery of what I think was unanimously decided as 2 the B-25G's that were given to the RAF and painted in their livery now solved, one of the pair being this ship: I plan to paint the olive drab to emulate one of the B-25's in the film Pearl Harbour, obviously with roundels instead of stars. I figured a worn out, bust up, hand-me-down B-25 would probably look something similar! Now onto the build, the kit: Nothing impressive, a tooling probably at least as twice as old as I am. I had planned to build this OOB but something about the empty cockpit bothered me so I roughed a couple bits up, all just sat in place... A few bits need tidied up, seat belts and a coat of spray filler to prime the pilot's office for some paint! I was planning on making the kit quickly, to focus on the worn paintwork. That's all for now, hopefully get the two halves joined up together tomorrow, then I can start on fixing the raised surface detail. Has anyone got any advice for this kit? Cheers!
  9. Well it seems like we've got well and truly to the bottom of this one gents I plan on making a start to my Italeri B-25G tomorrow, of course in FR-209's markings. I have some RAF lettering for the 'FR209' and I'm pretty handy with mask making for the rest of the markings. Again, everyone, you have all been a massive help! Thanks again!
  10. Got some more time on this guy, there was a pin wash, some decals and an engine that I embarrassingly forgot to paint. A few places need a bit of touching up here and there. The finish needs addressed and it needs a smudge more 'deliberate' weathering. Also the undercarriage and a couple of rocket pods need sorting out but they're fiddly, then just a bit of editing and this/it's build video are done! Thanks for looking!
  11. Even more impressively completed in 45 days then! Well done man
  12. Stunning work! Was this OOB? Those seats look incredible. Well in, difficult build for a mere 45 days!
  13. After only literally ages and entirely too many attempts I am finally happy with the paintwork on the upper surfaces, I did of touch up on the existing paint work, then added some panel line post shading. On the darkest two tones I added highlights as the darker post shading tones didn't show up all that well. I just used the 4 base colours mixed with a bit of black and white to get the highlights and darker shades. Still looks a bit flat, although much more depth than before. After a pass with varnish to bring the finish in uniform followed by a pin wash/chipping/stains/soviet muck, I think it might turn out alright! Onto the bottom side now, wish me luck.
  14. Apologies, was the former. Just checked, my mistake!
  15. Hey, What about the 1/48th PBY Catalina by Revell?I'm sure I seen a picture of one when it was serving with the BPF? Cheers!
  16. Nice idea! I was thinking of doing this for something interesting to do with an Italeri B25G I have lying around. So far we have concluded that there were 2 (maybe 3?) B25G's in RAF service, don't think there were any H's. The G's were changed a whole lot and theres barely anything online on the pair, its proving difficult haha.
  17. The plot thickens. For simplicity's sake I think I'll focus on the B25 in the picture. Massive F, blurry former USAAF markings, possible white smudge on the top of the tail. That plane, in that marking variant. I've seen RAF B25's with black leading edges, nothing lighter. I would hazard a guess at the leading edges being yellow however?
  18. That massive F would probably imply that it is FR209, no? In the book is the tiny white on the tail any clearer perchance? I am gonna go with just the roundel on the fuselage over an OD covered USAAF number. The tiny white blur on the tail is the only mystery now. 50% modellers, 50% investigators, Thanks gents
  19. Excellent help you guys, we have a winner... http://forum.keypublishing.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=167017&d=1226784258 Posted by and credit due to one Mr Dave Fleming on the 12 O'clock High forum. From what all these links have said, and the other guys on the respective forums in these links, I believe it is FR209. Before it was stripped back to bare metal and converted to the standard bomber variant. Now, to the markings, I am no expert on markings, on the fuselage either side of the visible roundel, appears to be blank or am I mistaken? Also, any idea what that tiny illegible white smudge on the top of the tail might be trying to depict? Thank you guys so much for your input.
  20. Hey all, So I was reading the wiki on the B-25G and I read that there was one passed over to the RAF for testing who named it the Mitchell II. I was wondering if anyone had any images of this plane? I have so far been unable to find anything. Cheers!
  21. Veeeery nice build. Was thinking about picking one of these up, think you sealed the deal!
  22. Stunning build! I thought it was a Fw Condor at first, excellent work all the same!
  23. Nice build! The photos are very striking. Well in!
