  1. Hi Mick There are 2 Hunter Mk58s in the museum at Dubendorff. 1 in air defence guise has inner tanks and outer sidewinders. The other in Air to Ground has 5 pylons. Inner mains are tanks and outer normals are large missiles, I know not what (suda 81mm rockets). In addition there are 3 extra pylos per wing each with 2" unguided rockets. Do you need pictures? Colin
  2. Thanks for posting the updates. In the last 12 months I've been to Singapore and Switzerland, making sure to photograph their Bloodhounds. Somewhere in the stash I have a resin Bloodhound in 1/48. Now I have to decide what scheme to use. I love this thread! Facinating stuff. Colin
  3. Looks beautiful. I've built 1 and have 2 in the stash, are they rare now? Best vacforms ever, better than many injection kits IMHO. Whats with the yellow sidwinder though? Is this a training round as its new to me? Colin
  4. Double edged sword? If I was modelling on that nice shiny table then I'd get both cuts from my Mrs. Great looking model, it deserves to get finished. Colin ;-)
  5. Excellent idea. This has been on my list for a long time. I look forward to seeing it done. Colin
  6. Hi There were quite a few X-1's in the end and there certainly was a white one. The original and first sound barrier buster was orange.
  7. Hi I just opened up a Tamiya F4U-1D thats been in my stash for about 15 years and found inside 2 complete kits. Great I thought I've bought 2 and at some point put them both in the same box. Not unusual but I've got 2 others in the stash of various other marks, each single in its own box. These 2 kits are different as one has a clear sprue E and the other clear sprue F. There is only 1 set of instructions and no decals as I generally store decals separately. Now the interesting thing is the rubber bush for the prop is in a separate bag with 2 bushes. This is a mint condition bag, never been opened. Neither of the other Corsairs in the stash has 2 bushes. Can anyone remember if Tamiya issued any double kits in the past or is it I just dont remember doubling up the kits and bushes? Colin
  8. Problem solved. I'll get the Kittyhawk G now its out and having the kit markings means the Model aliance stuff can go back into the box. Colin
  9. Cracking job Alan. Glad I saw the plane when it was in the shop as it looked superb then. The diorama really sets it up. Colin
  10. Cracking stuff Eric. I got mine on a trip to Hannants back in June and its now sitting in the modelling room looking ominious. I'm waiting for a bit of a respite from work before starting so great to see your suggestions to problems I dont know about yet. The whole wheel bay idea looks odd but I suppose it makes sense once you have the bits infront of you. Great to see the extra effort for lights aned crew. I planned on doing the Duxford one, nose up wheels down and cockpit side windows open. Love to see it built. Regards Colin
  11. Hi You might want to check the paint thinners. The paint is acrylic but you have the thinners for their lacquer range. Take Care Colin
  12. Excellent piece of work. You should be justifiably proud. Also give your self marks for getting it to sit on the nose wheel. I know how much lead went in mine! The rivit detail and engine wiring really set it off. Great stuff Colin
  13. Matchbox did a Red MG TD which follows all bar the 'continental'. I presume your childhood was in Blighty! Colin
  14. Here are a few I took for when I build my Fulmar. These should do the trick Colin W
  15. You did very well. I was there 2 weeks ago and she was parked in a closed Hanger 3 and I had to peer through the crack in the door just see her. Mind you I did see 3 Mustang displays and 2 each for the Spitfire and Yak. Good to see the pilot getting plenty of practice, I never got to see the previous incarnation before the pilot used it to plough up the runway at Debden. Great Pics anyway and thanks for sharing. Colin W
  16. Well done getting all those decals on without silvering! Excellent piece of work, even compared to your usual standards. Colin W
  17. Hi Lots of people springing to the defence of Airfix so I'll leap to defend Mach 2. I just managed to get hold of the Mach 2 1/48 Thor missile. There's only 8 bits and they probably dont fit too well but its a much better proposition than scratch building. Its all about having a starting point and as I doubt anyone else will ever make one I'll raise a cheer to Mach 2. Thanks Lads, or Bravo Monseur (as they're French). Colin W.
  18. I always fancied this kit as a kid as it never seemed to leave the Airfix catalogue. Way too expensive for me back then and I've not seen one for years. They dont seem to appear made up often so thanks for showing this. Looks like you've done a great job. Colin W
  19. Many thanks Now I have too much info. I'd probably buy the F and build it as a G with a few changes and scratch the engines but with the promise of a G in the pipeline I'm tempted to wait till this comes out. I've got a few to be getting on with. Colin
  20. Ordered mine yesterday. Yipee, I hope it arrives in the same number of bits it set off with. Has anyone actually built or done some work on one of these yet? Colin
  21. Colin W

    74 are back.

Great Scheme and really well done. Colin
  22. AhAh Excellent news. Pitty the diddn't do a different marque then, I want to do an SH2-FG for RNZN which is why I've never started the F. Many thanks Colin
  23. Hi Has anyone seen the KittyHawk Kaman Seasprite SH2-F? Is it a re pop of the old Matchbox one or a new kit? I have the Matchbox one in the stash and it was good for its day but that was 20 years ago so I'm considering the Kitty Hawk one if its a new tool. Cheers Colin W
