Hello again Andy, a couple of years ago I built a scammel pioneer recovery tractor, and you helped immensely with photographic information, you built one at the same time on the modelling news site, so I was quite surprised as I've got icm's wot 6 truck on my short list for the dday gb and noticed yours while researching builds, it came up on the modelling news site, what are your thoughts about the rear being a machine base by all accounts, I'm not prepared to buy the resicast machine tools at present to put in it at nearly £60, if you don't mind me asking how will you finish it, if you've got that far of course,

Craig in that aerofax book you have is there any way to tell if the 28p late model with the two outside wing pylons,as opposed to one either sise of the nacelle, and long radome has a canopy with a central frame down its length ,or without ,probably updates and retroft canopys as I've seen early 28ps without and with, can't really find much on the web to finally put this to bed,,a bit anal i know sorry,I'm leaning towards the central frame at the minute, cheers

Hi werner you've not visited for a while, youve got a yak 28 kit i believe, any thoughts on the different canopys I've searched and to be honest not come up with a lot I'm leaning, as im building a late version to the canopy with a frame down the centre what are your thoughts on this ,if you dont mind of course

Hi Hewy,
Yes I have one for a week now, and it looks fanastic!
as for the canopy, it took me a while to even see he difference....
and no, unfortunately no idea what means early and what late in terms of years.....
you could paint up both.. and when someone challenges you for putting up the wrong one (as for sure will happen ) just take out the other one .....

Yes i like that idea ,i did use the one with the frame down the centre as a paint mask for the cockpit for priming ,but after looking at more pictures it occurred to me that there were late ones with the rail down the centre so ive got that canopy in a bath of ipa now,the paint is coming off well at least, thanks anyway

Hello kirk, thought it best to contact you this way rather than hijack lauries wip.im in the finishing stages of a harrier build its the revell 1/48 gr7/9 ive built it with frog eyes and painted it in the rather fetching grey scheme with what looks to be lighter grey control surfaces and certain panels the loadout will include sniper and terma pods and some paveway 2s ive got from a raphael kit, now is where ive been treading water the decals, i painted first not paying attention to the lerx 65% do you know if any would of these decal options are suitable with the coulor scheme or should i a get different decals ,or b repaint the lighter grey panels out. thanks should you be able to assist ,, i was thinking it would have to be a zd code but with the lerx frog eyes and paint im now at ends, cheers

Nice Harrier Hewy!
65% LERX + frogeyes is not a problem if you are making a GR9 - as is consistent with your Sniper/Terma etc. The wiring changes meant that the original wing root inlets were obstructed and hence the change to the raised inlets. As I said on another thread, there were plenty of GR9s with 65% LERX. I'm afraid I'm not one of those clever souls that knows which serial was where doing what on which day but there are 2 alternative routes I would take:
1) Contact the Harrier SIG. Dave and his merry band have access to all of this sort of data. NIck Greenhall probably knows every individual airframe by nickname.
2) Do lots of searches on Airliners.net, Jetphotos etc for aircraft in Kandahar and you'll find one in your scheme
By all means, shout if there are any other questions I can help with.
KIrk
