Thank you very much Nick... Doors again. Of course the perfect world don't exist! But, ten minutes (!) later, it works: Then, rear bonnet. And it will not be a small thing! You saw already the rough piece: Firstly, this bonnet will openable with a hinge on the rear subframe, as the original. Front bonnet don't have hinge... A grat moment... Now of course inside! Candys? No, air ducts... Cooling air ducts engine, a sanding nightmare: Dan.

+1.... -
Kind words, always, thank you very much gentlemen! Sorry, no. Next will be not a scratch built project. Motivation is partially gone, I need some easier work! It will be of course a french vehicle, but not a car! Wait and see... GT40 doors, more, openable, with a lock of course! Be watchful... Hopefully, a mistake inside... It's perfect for mechanism's lock! How to? All is under control... Dan.

Thank you very much gentlemen! No... I decided some years ago to work only on French vehicles! Sorry... You are welcome Steve! I work myself on a Unimat 3 EMCO. Unfortunately out of production since some decades... In Europa we can buy easily used ones. But for you in Australia, I dont know? Regarding new ones lathe I don't suggest China products, but may be perhaps easier for you? New makes: Sherline (USA) is for me a must , secondly Proxxon (DE) good products too. But they are not cheap! And the lathe without tools and accessories can't be useful... Feel free to any question! Clear parts? Before, many hours to "clean" the bonnet... But, one day a test... Then, doors! Beautiful ones isn't? Hinges are very special ones. During a race, mechanics must can "undress" the car in few minutes, like that: The Ford solution for the doors on the tub: On the door: Of course, settings! And sanding, really? Some fiberglassing... Dan.

Thanks Ron, welcome to the Dan's fan club... Front bonnet. Fiberglass moulding is awful! But I have to do it! Primer, sanding, primer sanding... Inside. The more difficult is: But one day... Great satisfaction! Dan.
-
Thanks Mr K all the kind words are appreciated... May be some Citroën designers have be inspired by american cars? Or a 1936' fashion? I don't know... Windows, this pic show the real colour... Something wrong here? Yes... Dan.

Tub, more... And with the engine, dry fitted of course... Some adds on the tub, front frame... Now, rear frame. With it, you can see the first moulded piece, the small "roof". Unfortunately, no pic, and no mould pic ! It was a silicone one, in one part, but I moulded piece by piece, as the rear bonnet here show : Some sanding was needed! Tub is now completed. As usual, to vary the pleasure: Dan.

Thank you gentlemen, again... I had to forget a moment sanding, paint and painters. So, today, Air conditioning system version 1930'... Unfinished! Dry fit to evaluate the arm length in situ... Thanks Mr Helle for the controller! Dan.

My last post don't appear?

You are welcome Jo, hope the following will help for 1/8 scale... Of course a lathe will be essential! 1_ M2 threaded rod. 2_ M2 nut with shoulder. 3_White material (sprue etc) or painted. 4_M0.8mm threaded rod (glued in the hole 5). 5/6_ 0,9mm holes. You can insert a M2 nut in the cylinder head... Feel free for any question guys! Dan.
-
Carburetors... With the same huge coin... Now ignition! 8 cylindres, nine wires... In situ, all seems normal! Dan.

HELP! It's not 1/43 stuff! Or it's not the same scale in France... Unbelievable. Hats off. Dan. -
I do like knitting! My work last week end: Sometimes I used to work on a GT40 as well... Around the engine. I don't understand why but I can't find pics about the construction of many parts? Next? Carburetors maybe... Dan.

You are too kind gentlemen... To Poul, I spent approximatively 7 month on the "tub". I can say that with the input dates of the pics. (Photo Mac OX) I found some drawings too... Now, the engine story. Another gift by Mr Monogram, the engine block. A Ford V8 Stay as another Ford V8... For the deuce, it was a flathead engine, mine: Here on the chassis... But the GT40's engine is quite different... As usual, the result: We will come back on it, first the gerbox. The real thing, a beauty... Unfortunately no construction pics! Something miss? NO: Have a fine WE! Dan.

PROPELLER replied to kpnuts's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
What a great engine! To my eyes, with correct hardware, painted and a bit weathered on a stand, it would be a magnificent object... Congrats, Dan. -
Thanks guys! In "slow motion" there is "motion" isn't? No comment.... It's the first "finition" paint layer. This grey will be the color, and don't expect a super shiny... Dan.

Another world... Congrats, D. -
Again kind words, thank you very much gentlemen... Front shocks absorbers: And of course now rear side... The engine bay is also quite complex... With some parts like this: How to? Some of you saw I imagine this: On my drawings, in accordance only pics I had, I could not see this detail... Mistake? And I got that: Great, great satisfaction! Engine bay is now almost completed... Thanks for watching! Dan.

Ron, please come back with us, you are welcome... Thanks Nick, I'm proud that my English is suffisant! And thanks Dinky and the others for the notifications... Front suspensions and wheels hubs. Upper arms... Technical approach. Once drawn on the aluminum plate, settings on place, then soldering. Notice the solder small pieces on the junctions, it's my method... Front wheels hubs, complex pieces... And a non conventional method! But it works... Steering system is coming too:

Thank you very much all! It's a pleasure to I too to restart this building method, and honestly, sometimes I say myself wow... what a courage! I was more young... Well, it's called by GT 40 experts, the "tub". Here it is a 1/1 tub: And mine... Of course without drawings, I have to draw my own! No way to work on the air... And here, my big regret. The "tub" will be a metal/plastic mix... Let's go! Front suspension is coming: By the way, GT40, 40 why? May be some of you don't know why. 40 inches tall! Small isn't? Dan.

Thanks guys! What a good question Mr Mansfield! Unfortunately, no precise drawings, only some outlines as you can see on the first pic... And it's a mark II ! The rest, by "eye", fortunately I have a good "vision" in 3D... Well, after consultation with my personal translator, my "master" became "body buck", thanks Mr C. Do you think it's finished? No, some work is needed on it: Easier with a template! Now, rear... Now, it's ready for paint! A new sculpture at home... Dan.

Thank you very much gentlemen! Your enthusiasm is a real pleasure. One month later, in 2009 in fact... As usual, details are important and not really easy to achieve... An important one, doors... I have to dig the outlines to find easily where to cut out the fiberglass parts, one day! Others nightmares... And if you ask the question why the Mark I? The answer: Thanks for watching, Dan.
