Do tell us why you think that we are wrong.
First, the scale, half of mine and it is very important.
Secondly, the complexity of many models. Ferrari, Alfa, Cord etc...
And no compromise, except tires, all metal...
I'm far from all those things!
I have to admit of course my realizations level. Effectively very good, and I am very proud of that.
It's not a false modesty, its just, by my knowledge of difficulties, an reality.
Thanks Mister Gerald Wingrove, we are all of us your students, RIP.Dan.

Thank you very much Nick, it's really a fine compliment!
Today, carburetors. I do love SU carburetors, a nightmare to set correctly,
but once well tuned, really effectives. Many kinds of carburetors have been install on this engine...
And I found this:
And this:
In fact it will be a bad choice, but at that time I was happy...
Let's go!
Linkages...
I was happy, very happy!
May be some technical pics?

Thanks Poul!
Today, I'm sorry return to metal forming... It has been the more metal forming difficult operation.I suppose you have seen rapidly on some pics what i'm talking about, the gearbox aluminum lining:
The struggle...

Thanks Poul!
Mr C I don't really understand what you mean...
Or if you talking about That:
On this pic they are not on the engine!
Dan.

Thanks Ron, but I'm not sure!
Around the engine...
Called in French peripherals.
Now, try to recognize!
Easy...
What is this?
Something is coming...

Thanks Nick! You are right, it's the same method.
Choice of this material, the reason why...
First weight, of course. Second, foundry parts needs to be only with "soft shapes".
Once painted, you can't differentiate plastic and metal. I hope!
Sometimes, metal is needed, stamping:
Now, cylinders heads, two, it's a twin cam engine... Same method, but we have now
to thinking about exhaust and carburetors.
Exhaust side:
You can see here the cutout of two soldered pieces... They will be the same!
Carburetor side...
Valves covers, Talbot Lago isn't?
Not perfect, just acceptable!

I must thank my private secretary for responding much better than I could have done ... Thanks Mr C!
Don't worry Merlin, and welcome.
Well, it's time to thinking about the engine. Another multi media story...
First step:
In situ...
Alignment rod between gearbox and radiator...
Front engine bracket:
Distribution's chain housing now here too...
Thanks for looking!
Dan.
PS: Yesterday, first day in the workshop on the Traction.
Of course with two left hand and one surviving neuron...-

Harbour pilot I understand, and what a vessel!
Petrel of Liverpool. How many horsepower? Engine make? What kind of propulsion?
To my eyes it's a wonderful office... But the first pic?
Dan.

How can I thank all for this kind words deluge?
I am really very touched...Well, as promised, no metal forming today!
Upholstery? Dashboard? OK, both!
Real leather, of course!
Painted...
OUPS! No metal forming? Sorry, under the tunnel...
As all dashboards, not easy to shoot...
Thanks again guys!

Thanks Nick!
You has become rapidly a great 3D user, and printer , try metal forming now!
More dirty than a computer's keyboard computer, but not difficult as you think, truly.
Same way:
To the left, no sanding...
Sometimes hammering by inside for the biggest defaults...
Then, louvres, always a nightmare! Cutting with a very, very thin blade, 0,3mm, sorry Mr C, 0,0118"...
A delicate montage on the drill:
Another real difficulty, a small bead. How to?
Thin annealed aluminum piece, CA glue, sanding...
Now, it's seems that the Talbot's body is coming, isn't?
About "Talbot".
Firstly, it's an English warrior. Sorry dear English friends but he has lost near Bordeauxthe last battle of the "One Hundred Years War".(1453)
Secondly it's a wine castle: "Chateau Talbot". Quite expensive, "Grand Cru".
And of course, a car make.I was born In Bordeaux...

You are lucky Mr C, a French who understand what mean .000"! Here is 0.0157, 0,4 mm for normal people!

when the majority of us modify model kits with here and there some scratch, Dan build everything for himself and reach pikes of perfection.
I’m overall stunned by his modesty, witness, if needed, of his high human richness(sorry for my very bad english, guys)so much respect for your skills Sir .
Thierry, thank you very much, it's a real tribute...

It's sure, you do like metal forming! Good news, it's not the end...
Today, the tail. One more a time, I was not sure to the result, me!
But...
Do you remember?
The reason why...
Thierry talks about my English for me too. Sorry, French people, you know...
But it seems you understand us!
Thanks again guys!

Another tank, fuel tank. May be it's incredible, but on these cars,
tanks was not protected! What you see, it's the wall of the tank!
Who said safety?
Metal forming...
Note the fixing principle...
The first screw, here, in the filling hole:
Now, at this point, after sweat and teas, just fun!
We have now to thinking about the tail...
Another challenge to come!
Enjoy!

Thank you very much guys!
Kind words always appreciated...
This time, I have to be honest... I'm very proud of this gear selector!
Engraving...
Milling of course!
You can trust me, it was a struggle!
Now, selector linkage, easy...
Steering linkage too...
Thanks to watching!

And to Thierry, my apologies for this unforgivable mistake ....
Gearbox OK, rear axle OK, what next? Transmission axle right?
I enjoyed the realization of this part, hidden of course at last...
As usual, lathe and mill are indispensable! Some hours too...
For the fun you can see here splines, non functional!
Milling...
Thanks for watching!

TALBOT LAGO T26 C 1/8
in Work In Progress - Vehicles
Posted
At 72 years old, it's time to get a graduation...
Well, I was happy.
First step...
But, I do love the "but". With the engine, it don't works!
For this kind of carburetors, it's not the same bonnet...
Ok boss, what kind for my bonnet?
This one:
No problem! Argrrrrrr...
This time foundry...
Same way for carbs...
And now of course, the "new" bonnet!
It works!
Dan.
