1/72 Airfix FW-190D A8 starter kit
wheezi replied to wheezi's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I think the key is getting the fuselage together. I needed to trim a fair bit of the control panel to get a nice fit and the way the bulkhead/exhaust assembly goes together doesn't make life easy either. Patience and perseverance the key I think. -

Thanks for all the comments, really appreciated. Will leave the tank colour alone, but may just finish with an atenna just to set off the kit. -

No, Tamiya paints. All guess work though, just used what I had at hand. Thanks Adam. -
Pleased to get this finished. Was wanting a cleaner finish but bearing in mind I lost my sight part way through the build thanks to a new chemo drug I'm on I should be happy its done! Not posted for a while due concentrating on health but good to make a return. Colour of tank bugging me a bit so may redo.

Great shots Shaun. Any idea what the marks on the intake of the Gripen are (just above the danger sign)?

All great shots Shaun. Thanks for sharing.

RIAT 2016 (yep - it's taken me that long to post them!)
wheezi replied to F-32's topic in Aviation Photography
Worth the wait. Nice pics. Really like the Swiss Tiger & Mig 29. -
They look tiny as well. Should move them in a bit and make them larger!
-
Great shots. Particularly like the inverted formation of the Red Arrows. Would make a great contrasty mono shot as well. Nice work John.

Thanks Tony. Not sure on paratroopers, I suspect not, I believe the whole project is behind schedule due to serious 'teething' issues early on. From what I've seen, it looks awesome, handles great and the sound is just amazing.

Thanks Trevor, friend of mine is a Herc pilot. He reckons 2022 for phase out, I think it had been extended from 2018 or 2020?

Some shots I've taken since the A400M got low level clearance. Various locations in Wales. She's now cleared for 150ft I believe. Hope they're of interest, she's an amazing sight, and the way she's thrown about is simply amazing. I'll be sad to see the Herc go, but I think this is a fitting replacement. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Jagala A-10 Landings - Its that time of year again !
wheezi replied to Tiger331's topic in Aviation Photography
Excellent shots. Miss these in the UK, used to see them when i was a teen as I lived near Manston and they seemed to be fairly regular visitors. -
Tidy shot John. I live Kirkham, but I'm usually on holiday when the show is on. I was in Wales and the Reds routed up the coast (the weekend before the show), I climbed 500 ft up a hill to find I'd left my battery on charge back at home, fortunately they were a no show!

Tornado ZG750 25th Anniversary special 'Pinky'
wheezi replied to wheezi's topic in Aviation Photography
Yes, was just before RIAT. I'm not a massive expert when it comes to ordinance, but I think you are right. -
Lucky to catch 'Pinky' in the Mach Loop on one of her last low level sorties before being RTP'd at Leeming. She was bombed up for a photo session which we could hear the details of on the scanner. Went to the loop especially on the off chance of getting pics of ZG750 and I wasn't disappointed. Was a great pass, especially when she overtook the Airbus A400M (pics later) over Lake Bala.

Thanks Dazey, all Tamiya acrylics, can't remember the numbers of the top of my head. The underside was a mix of yellow with a touch of red.

Thanks JR, I'll bear that in mind next time. I believe you are correct, I'm sure I've read something about that before. Agreed on the hinomarus they should have a white border however just used the kit supplied decals. Thanks for your feedback.

Only my 2nd build since returning to the hobby my first being the Airfix 1/72 Mustang. Not got a massive build rate due to other hobbies (aviation photography mainly), but I really enjoyed the build. I'll make no apologies for the over weathering (although can you over weather a Japanese aircraft?), it really was a test bed for learning weathering techniques. Not happy with the green which seemed to darken considerably when I sprayed the clear coat. Also some misting inside the canopy. Still always learning! Great kit and really enjoyable build. Constructive criticism always welcome. Alan

National Museum of the United States Air Force
wheezi replied to F-32's topic in Aviation Photography
That looks like an amazing museum, with some interesting aircraft. Love the Spits, thanks for sharing. -
Total potluck Danny, although there is a low level training 'timetable' contrary to popular belief it doesn't cover the loop. I've been lucky in that I haven't blanked but I have on one occasion only had a single Hawk pass. In that sense I've been very lucky. The day the I got the Eagle shot on the other hand was quite busy, Tucanos, a few Tornados, multiple F-15 passes and even a Provost looped!
-
Some were the same day. The F-15's and the Tornado's were same day from West. You're right about the the locations West & Bwlch Red Dot. Not done Exit yet, but will on next trip. Thanks for the comments Alpha Delta, there are many others whose work I am in awe of. Some excellent photographers on those hills and some real characters which is great on those very quiet days.

Hard pushed to tell that apart from the real thing (ignoring the dining room table ).
