  1. Having nearly completed my Airfix Gruman Wildcat, I decided to drag the Martlet out of the stash, when comparing thd instructions I noticed the Wildcat suggest U.S. gull gray for the insides of the engine bay and undercarriage legs ( makes sense). But in the Martlet they suggest RAF sky to match the undersides. My question is why would they change the interior colour on the production line fir British supplies ? Would they not just change exterior colours ? Many thanks in advance Phil

  3. Airfix makes no mention in the painting scheme or on the box art, on a Facebook group I asked the same question and came up with 2 saying yes and 2 saying no

  10. If you mix the paint well and have a good tin 2 or 3 should do the trick. Phil
  11. Wow, I'm really blown away by everyone's comments. Thanks guys. To answer John's question, I use a new size 2 brush and apply really thin coats working in opposite directions. I mix the paint to within an inch of its life and try not to overload the brush. The paint is basic Humbrol 11. Phil
  12. Pah a beer mat ? When I was a kid l had to do my modelling on the back of a postage stamp, at the same time a my 4 brothers. I'll get my coat.😄🧥 Phil
  13. Thanks, my modelling space consists of a table in front of the telly. So all my painting is done with a brush. Phil

  16. Built this for the Hawker Siddley GB. Thought I should post it here too. Hawker Tempest F5 3Sqn RAF Wunsdorf Germany 1947-48. Academy kit with Airfix rockets and Freightdog decals. Painted with Humbrol enamels and hairy stick. All comments much appreciated. Phil
