  1. Great job with this comparison thus far, i am really enjoying it and finding it to be very helpful. Over the years, I have been trying to figure out a way to help the Tamiya kit along with some tweaks. Looking at the above picture, if I were to take issue with the shorter fuselage, I think that I would cut the fuselage in half just ahead of the tail section along the spine and extend it the additional distance. Not sure that it would be 100% correct, but it might help the overall appearance. The wings are another matter though. I have just started reading this thread, so please forgive me if some of this has already been addressed. I am also curious if you have compared the Tamiya kit to the AZ Model one. Based on my past experience with AZ Models, they seem to get "inspiration" from other manufacturer's work. AZ does make some nice improvements and I have often wondered if it would be worth buying and AZ kit to cross kit with the Tamiya Spitfire.
  2. A word of caution when dealing with Dan Taylor, last year I purchased several items from his website, he short shipped me and said he would send me the missing items promptly. He never did. He came up with several excuses and in the end, he stopped responding to my emails and never did send me what he owed me.
  3. Though the history is interesting, I'd be far more interested in finding a few of Bilek's photoetch sets for the Ju.52. Such a pity that they are no longer around. I understand that Eduard did the photoetch, I wonder if Eduard could be persuaded to reissue the set?
  4. I think that I found my answer. I found and contacted an eBay seller who offers their sets and he informed me that they are no longer in business Bummer...
  5. Would anyone know how to contact Bilek? They have a photoetch set for the 1/72 Ju.52 kit. TIA.
  6. Thanks Dennis. My sincere wishes for a speedy recovery. I've been dealing with several medical issues myself and can sympathize. As for doing a -4, it would be 1/72. I'd be very interested in reading about crossing kitting the Tamiya kit with the Italeri one.
  7. Dennis, would you have a link to a larger image of this one? Also, how does the old Matchbox kit compare in terms of shape and accuracy for the -4? Perhaps it could be used as a guide to correcting the Italeri or Revell kits.
  8. Hi all, I was looking at a few of IBG Bedford trucks and saw their fire tender. I had no luck Googling info as it pertains to my question, so I thought that I would ask here. Would anyone know if IBG's Bedford QLR truck be suitable for an airfield diorama? Was this truck seen at W.W.II RAF / RCAF airfields? I am aware of the old Airfix pair of kits, but I am desiring to keep with 1/72 (Airfix is 1/76). As a side question IBG's refueller and tanker trucks aside, are there any other of their Bedford series of trucks that would be suited for an airfield diorama? Thanks.
  9. Thank you Bob, much appreciated. Wm. B.
  10. Resurrecting this thread from the far past, is there any chance Bob that you would have a copy of the instructions for the options that were on this sheet? I recently came into possession of the 1/72 portion of this sheet. Thanks.
  11. Yes, my bad. Those are the kits I was referring to. Thank you.
  12. As far as the Hs.126 goes, where does the AZ model kit rank?
  13. Is CanMil Air doing decals again? Last time that I looked at his website (which was several years ago), he had gotten out of the decal market.
  14. Belcher Bits used to do such a conversion, unfortunately, it's sold out now. They still offer the decal sheet though. The conversion was based on a set from a company called Aircraft in Miniature, Hannants may be a source for the engines.
  15. Maybe one of the old Airfix modeling magazine issues?
  16. Could you post some pics of your work? I am curious as to how you addressed the differences when mating the B wing to the Hasegawa fuselage. Thanks.
  17. Why? Well, that's what happens when you copy other people's work. Had AZ been more like Arma Hobby and started from scratch, doing their own research, maybe then they would have gotten it right.
  18. True the wings are good as they are a slightly more detailed version of the Revell wings. I am doing the same thing as you described (mating the wings with the Hasegawa kit fuselage) except I will be using the Revell kit's wings. I completely agree, while this method may not be "state of the art" like the new Arma Hobby kit, it will still give one a pretty decent kit. I had picked up Eduard's latest photoetch set for the Hasegawa P-51B kit, so toss that in plus a few of the resin sets that I have on hand, I believe that I will have something that will look pretty good on the shelf.
  19. I think MSAP covered this one on their North Africa sheet. It goes back many years, but you can still find it on eBay.
  20. There is no comparison. AZ's kit is a fubared copy of the Revell kit with some modifications. Arma Hobby's kit is new and for all intensive purposes, the most correct P-51B kit available now.
  21. I had no problem placing one into the shopping cart - are you on their website or another's? The link I provided above will take you directly to the conversion set in question (and Schatton's website).
  22. I had the High Flight set, ended up getting rid of it in favour of the Schatton Modellbau one.
