  1. Hello all, Many years back, I was able to get my hands on a pdf copy of Aeroclub's product listing from the owner. It was a useful thing to have in one's hands, particularly when it came to wanting to find out what aircraft would suited to Aeroclub's vast selection of propeller blade sets. Sadly, the hard on which I stored my copy calfed on me and I've lost my copy. Would anyone here possibly have a pdf version that they would be gracious enough to share with me? Many thanks in advance, Wm.B.
  2. A rat indeed John. Sorry to read of your experience with them. Such a pity that they just couldn't be honest about it. No one is perfect and I get that. Just own up to it. I believe that goes a long way to making things right. It goes much further than when you choose to not be honest.
  3. Not being able to let this go, I decided to give Canada Post another go. I just got off the phone with Canada Post and they confirmed that it would be the shipper who would and can only be the ones to add COD charges. So unless Canada Post doesn't know what they are talking about... That conversation with Canada Post brings this full circle for me. I had a gut feeling that HLJ was not being honest with me when I was asking about the COD charge - they denied any knowledge of it. The conversation with Canada Post says otherwise. I am running with this. No loss to me if I do not ever deal with HLJ again. I can not and will not deal or associate with someone who isn't honest with me. It's worse when it is a company who has the reputation that HLJ has. In my mind, after this, their reputation is not deserved.
  4. Thanks fellas. @VMA131Marine, according to the online order invoice, I used HLJ Small Pack. It certainly arrived quickly enough, it was the unexpected COD charge that threw me.
  5. Has anyone else here bought from HLJ lately? I ordered some kits and when they arrived, there was an additional COD charge of $15.50. HLJ tried to pass it off as Custom's fees, it was not. Actually, I found HLJ to be quite deceitful with their responses over this. After some digging around, turns out that instead of shipping my package directly to me (as one would expect), they had it shipped to Ontario and then it was forwarded, at additional expense, to me in my Province. I refused the package and they can eat those fees. I am peeved for several reasons over this, primarily that HLJ did not disclose that they were doing this and that they outright lied to me regarding the COD charges. When I pay shipping to have a package sent to me, I expect that it is coming directly to my address and not some intermediary 3rd party who is then going to add on additional shipping costs. If HLJ would have been honest enough to have disclosed this on their website or at the time I placed my order, I wouldn't have placed the order. But to try to claim that the COD charges were Custom's fees that just adds to this. When I contacted HLJ, I included pictures of the COD label, so there is no way that they could mistake it for Custom's fees. Just curious if anyone else here has had a similar experience with HLJ and if this is their modus operandi now?
  6. I've looked high and low and am not able to find anywhere that allows me to set up settings that will allow members here to PM me, nor am I able to find where we are able to PM other members. I've read the section that speaks to this, but none of what is referred to there is visible when I look to check for it when I am logged in. I've not encountered this issue on any other hobby forum. What am I missing?
  7. Hi Tony, I just came across this thread. I tried to PM you, but I have not been able to figure out where on this site to do that. There does not seem to be any links. I am curious if you have any info on getting a 1/72 CF-100 Mk.3 conversion and what else would be required to back date the Hobbycraft kit. I have both the Obscureco and Flightline sets and they are indeed very nice. I am quite fond of the Flightline set. Thanks Tony. Wm.
  8. That's useless. I didn't want to post the picture, thinking that would be a problem. One would think that posting a link would be ok. Obviously, I was wrong. Sorry folks.
  9. I found an old set from Aeroclub. Certainly not up to today's standards of resin or 3D printing, but it is a start.
  10. It's a good picture of the real thing. Now, just need to find a 1/72 offering!
  11. Would you have any suggestions for a suitable alternative? Do you think that BarracudaCals' seat for the Lightning would work?
  12. This is definitely going to be a challenge. It does not look like anyone makes a Mk.5 seat. How close would the Mk.7 seat be? Anyone think that it could be made passable? Since it's 1/72, if I could achieve something that looked "close enough", I could live with it.
  13. I also came across a top view of a West German Sabre from Airliners.net. It gives a nice look at the ejection seat looking down. Anyone who would like to see it can view it HERE.
  14. Thanks Dave. I did a Google search and turned up the PDF right off the hop. For anyone else who may be interested, you can find it HERE.
  15. Thank you very much everyone! It looks like my next step will be to find a suitable MB Mk.5 seat. I had contacted Christopher at HPM Hobbies, they have several MB seat types, but not the Mk.5. Christopher also made me aware of the seat change for the West German Canadair Sabres. It seems that it is also a MB Mk.5 seat, so I will be hunting for a few now. Christopher suggested that their MB Mk.2F seat was closest in appearance: The handles would have to be changed. While over at Hannants' website, I found this set by Kits-World: This and the HPM seat should allow for a pretty close representation of the MB Mk.5 seat. Thoughts on this fellas?
  16. I want to do a West German T-33. During my research, I came across some information that said the Germans changed the ejection seats in their T-33s. I have not been able to find out what the seats were upgraded to. Would anyone here know? Thanks!
  17. As an after thought, I wonder if there is a suitable section that I could remove from the rear portion of the Lancaster, someplace behind the wings? Hmmm...
  18. Thank you everyone, this has been most helpful. Pete in Lincs' suggestion to use tabs was helpful as I'd have probably just done the butt joint method, so thank you! RJP, thank you for pointing out all the little additions, that will come in handy. You have a sharp eye for the details. Your mention of the Matchbox kit has also been helpful. I found some images of the Matchbox kit's sprues and after studying them, I may have settled on a method. I still think that Pete in Lincs' idea may be worth giving a go first. If I run with Matchbox's approach, I will still require a donor kit. It will require a bit of cutting and such. But if I were to cut an appropriate length of cockpit section off from the donor kit (maybe somewhere just behind where the instrument panel and pilot would be, then cut the nose section from the main kit, then mate the two. I'd have to save and remove the upper fuselage area where the instrument panel sits and then replace it once I have successfully mated the 2 sections together. But I think this would give me the most correct fuselage contours while extending the fuselage. Yes / No? Thoughts? Thank you everyone.
  19. I am hoping that someone here might be able to offer some guidance as to how best to lengthen the nose on a Post War RCAF Lancaster as shown below: I have managed to find out that this was a 40" extension. From the picture, it would appear that the nose was chopped with a plug put in. I am trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this. I have given thought to sacrificing the fuselage from another Lancaster kit, but I am unsure as to how bright an idea that would be or how successful it would turn out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  20. I am trying to message a member here, but do not see the envelope icon that is referrred to in the opening post. What am I missing? Has something changed?
  21. Hi Scott, If you see this or if one of the members here is in contact with Scott, could you ask him to message me. Thanks!
  22. How do we contact you to order your products?
  23. Great job with this comparison thus far, i am really enjoying it and finding it to be very helpful. Over the years, I have been trying to figure out a way to help the Tamiya kit along with some tweaks. Looking at the above picture, if I were to take issue with the shorter fuselage, I think that I would cut the fuselage in half just ahead of the tail section along the spine and extend it the additional distance. Not sure that it would be 100% correct, but it might help the overall appearance. The wings are another matter though. I have just started reading this thread, so please forgive me if some of this has already been addressed. I am also curious if you have compared the Tamiya kit to the AZ Model one. Based on my past experience with AZ Models, they seem to get "inspiration" from other manufacturer's work. AZ does make some nice improvements and I have often wondered if it would be worth buying and AZ kit to cross kit with the Tamiya Spitfire.
