  1. Yes, that's correct, no decals. The sheet that I have is from Ventura decals. I am sure it can still be found. MPM released that version. If you can find the decal from that kit, that might be a source for you. There may be other decals available, perhaps someone here can point you in the right direction for that. If you want to do the recon version, Cutting Edge had a sheet for that one, #72068:
  2. Hi Pat, they sell on eBay, but you can also contact them via their farcebook page, here. Their email is: [email protected] I suggest looking over their facebook page to get an idea of what they currently offer and what is to come. The shipping is a touch expensive (at least to Canada and the U.S.), but having already purchased several of their sets, they are well worth it.
  3. Recently, I came across a conversion set for the Revell 262A kit from Mulberry Scale kits (Mulberry states that their set can be used with other 262 kits, but they recommend the Revell kit). It offers more detail than the Schatton Modellbau set, BUT, the metal gun from Schatton is still well worth getting and using with the set from Mulberry: Mulberry produces a recon conversion set for the 262 as well. On their Facebook page, they have listed some upcoming sets for this year. Fans of the Revell Ju.88 kit will be happy to see a Mistel conversion, a Ju.88G as well as a Ju.388 conversion. Lots of goodies coming this year!
  4. Thank you Troy, very helpful, I appreciate it. Those are excellent pictures and will be very useful.
  5. I am wondering if anyone can comment on the accuracy of DKD decals and Arma Hobby markings as they pertain to Arma's latest Mk.IIc Sea Hurricane? I came across a 1/72 Sea Hurricane sheet on Hannants from DKD: One of the markings is the same as Arma Hobbys' new Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc: On the starboard side, underneath the engine exhausts, DKD has a small marking (I can not make it out), Arma Hobby does not (at least that I could not see on the decal sheet). I am also curious if this Sea Hurricane would have been out fitted with rockets as depicted by DKD - IMHO, it certainly adds to the look of the plane.
  6. Thanks fellas. @Dave Swindell, I've selected the payment type, yet I still am unable to view and adjust my backorders. On the first page, it indicates that I have 54 items, yet after I select my payment option, it then states that I have no back orders: I've tried emailing Hannants directly, but am still waiting to hear back from them. I do not know what else to do.
  7. Apologies if this is not the right area. I am wondering if anyone else is having issues accessing their back orders on Hannants' website? I am wanting to remove a few items and adjust quantities on others and when I click on the tab to view my back orders, I am taken to a page that wants me to either add a credit card or check off PayPal. When I view my account, it tells me how many items I have on back order, but it will not let me get to them. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
  8. Season's Greetings all! I was searching eBay and came across a 1/72 decal sheet for the Bf.109G. The manufacturer is uprise decals. Has anyone used their decals or is familiar with the quality? Thanks.
  9. Thanks all who replied, I appreciate it. Out of curiosity, how well would the Tamiya 1/72 Mosquito B Mk.IV / PR Mk.IV kit work for such a project? I have the Attack Squadron (aka Arma Hobby now) two-stage supercharger Merlin nacelles set. Would using the Tamiya kit with the conversion set be a better option? Also, I want to model the Spartan Air Services Mosquito: I've given some thought to doing the Kenting Aviation Mosquito as well. Decal sheet is available from Thunderbird Models. That one calls for the Tamiya FB Mk.VI kit though. It does appear to have different engines (which I could be completely wrong about), but in the drawing it does show a 6 stub exhaust:
  10. Thanks Chris. I am particularly curious about the last set, #72 625, I do not even see a corresponding part in the kit.
  11. I'm hoping that someone can answer some I have questions about the following Quickboost resin sets for the Tamiya Bf.109G-6 kit: 1) Quickboost #72 617 - Messerschmitt Bf-109G-6 gun barrels: is there something that I am missing on this set? One of the 2 looks like the gun barrels need to be added, the other piece in this set, looks the same as what comes in the kit. Is there some subtle detail that I am not picking up on? 2) Quickboost #72 618 - Messerschmitt Bf-109G-6 undercarriage covers: this set looks identical to the kit parts. Is it more detailed on one side or just thinner? 3) Quickboost #72 625 - Messerschmitt Bf-109G-6 piston rods with undercarriage legs locks: straight up, what the heck are these? I am not able to find a similar piece in the kit. Thanks in advance for any answers.
  12. Well, I found a couple of the sets on eBay that Ed pointed out (thanks again Ed). I picked them up at a rather hefty premium though. Pity that the Aeroclub sets are not around any more and finding them is more and more of a challenge.
  13. That is what drew my eyes to it! I thought that if the shape was comparable with the ESCI or Italeri kits, I'd tweak up the Airfix/US Airfix/MPC kit with bits from those ones. It's sounding though yhat this kit may have some issues that I am not up to trying to deal with.
  14. Does anyone know if someone offers a 1/72 Jacobs R-755 engine or a reasonable facsimile? I want to find a couple along with suitable propellers for my AZ Cessna Crane Mk.Ia kit. Thanks in advance.
  15. Cybermodeller has a colour comparison of RLM colours here; https://www.cybermodeler.com/color/rlm_comp2.shtml It should give the op an idea of the differences of the RLM colours he was interested in. Not that I'm an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but generally speaking, RLM 65 was used pre and early war, RLM 76 I've seen used on fighters like the Fw.190 and Bf.109, along with RLM 74 and 75 (plus others to be sure), maybe 1942 onwards and RLM 78 seems to appear on desert and Mediterranean aircraft. I don't recall off hand which RLM blue colour was used on maritime aircraft (such as the Fw.200). It may have RLM 65 with RLM 72 and 73??? Definitely a difference in the shade of these blues. To further complicate things, AK Interactive has variations for the RLM colours and they are tied to certain periods of the war. Colourcoats would also be a good website to check out their colours. You could go to their websites to see more.
  16. I'm looking for some input on the accuracy of the US Airfix 1/72 AC-47 kit (which I presume was a reissue of an Airfix kit, though I don't know what year). I am interested in how correct (or not) the overall ahape of the kit is, fuselage, wings. From what I can see the engines and cowlings are one piece (I would replace those). But if overall, it is acceptable with a few donor pieces from an Italeri or ESCI kit along woth sone Quickboost sets, I can work with it. Thanks.
  17. After reviewing this thread, I have a few more questions as they apply to prop blades and hubs. In instances where the same prop blade is used, do the prop hubs vary from airplane to airplane? or do the hubs remain the same? Looking at the pictures that Chris (dogsbody) shared with us, and the information that Scott Hemsley provided (using a PBY Catalina prop) coupled with the information from Geoffrey Sinclair, if the PBY or early type B-17 props are on the long side, would the best place be the shaft of the blade (where it attaches to the hub), be the best place to remove any excess length? I'm thinking/hoping it is the better approach as it would ensure that the tips are all yhe same shape.
  18. Try doing a search on Hobby Search for the Hasegawa 1/72 He.111H-8 kit. I believe that they will have images of the instructions. That should give you a guide for your peoject. HTH.
  19. Thank you Steve, I appreciate the info and will check it out. @Mr T, pity about the molds, such a loss.
  20. After having come across information on a Canadian Hurricane that was restored by the Calgary Mosquito Society, I contacted them and and was supplied with the following information: This confirms Scott Hemsley's earlier recommendation to use a PBY Catalina prop (thank you once again Scott), additionally, I suppose one could use those same PBY props on an A-20 Havoc/Boston. Combined with Geoffrey Sinclair's post, this also makes me think that the props on the new sprue that Eduard provided with their Riders in the Sky B-24 kits should also work (or even the early style props found in the Academy B-17 kits that Black Knight used for his Hurricane). Thanks to all who contributed here.
