Hi Gaz, as for one being chosen over the other, strictly a guess on my part, I would suspect availability, later in the war anyways or perhaps where the 262s were operating from - a field or a paved surface. I've seen pictures of 262s parked in the trees alongside the autobahn and others where they were taking off from fields. Perhaps one tyre type was preferred over the other depending on where they were operating from?

As I have understood it, the Me.262 nosewheel was the same wheel as used by the Bf.109G-6/14's main landing gear wheel. It could be the treaded type or smooth.

Have you considered building this in 1/72: -
Eduard's latest 1/72 Fw.190A-5 release decal question
Wm Blecky replied to Wm Blecky's topic in Aircraft WWII
Yes, based on what members here have responded with as well as further digging on the net, it is indeed the orange coloured background and not the blue one. Eduard's 190A-5 decal sheet is correct. HTH. -
How many of you have Wingnut Wings kits in your stash? and Why if not
Wm Blecky replied to Beardie's topic in Aircraft WWI
Don't have any and never will. Pretty much wrong subject matter (near zero interest), wrong scale and even if, ridiculously expensive. -
Fantastic! Thank you Andre.

I just came across this and am interested to see Dave's work. Sadly, I can not locate it in the Ready For Inspection area. Would anyone have a link to his build? Thanks.

As many have already said, Fine Molds is THE kit to have for a 109 and Hobby Link Japan is the place to go for the Fine Molds kits. If you order from them you will find that the price is very reasonable (around $17 USD plus postage). They may not always be in stock, but you can place your order and either have them charge and ship when it comes into stock or you can leave it in their private warehouse and add things then ship when you are ready. Be aware that they will only hold things for 60 days.

Not sure how you are making out here Ham, but this eBay seller has a set of decals that may be of interest to you. I've bought from her several times, very reasonable and quick to mail. HTH.

AMG 1/72 Bf.109B kit - thoughts, impressions?
Wm Blecky replied to Wm Blecky's topic in Aircraft WWII
Rather surprised at the lack of a response - has no one sprung for one of these kits??? -
Now that AMG has released their series of early Bf.109 kits, I wonder if anyone who has dropped the coin for one has any thoughts or impressions they can share? I've seen pictures of it and have developed my own opinion as this point, but that is all, just an opinion as I have not picked one up yet. I'll admit that I am also having more than just a little difficulty swallowing the price (price plus shipping running around the $30 plus USD mark) that I see being asked for it (on eBay anyways). I will say that I am not a fan of the photoetched landing gear covers (that may, or may not, change). I am sure they are truly "to scale" being photoetch, just not sold on them though. I suppose that if anything, it can not be any worse than the Avis release from several years ago. That was one I had high hopes for but was quite disappointed once in hand. Anyways... thoughts, impressions anyone?

Check your inbox Ham. Also look here. By far the best price I have come across for the 110C/D ProfiPACK, under $26 USD delivered to North America. Much better savings than the Sprue Bros price.

Now isn't that the truth! I see it every time I am poking around eBay LOL
-
I should also just say, I do not doubt what you have said Mike, I am only surprised probably due to many years of buying kits or other goodies from companies like Hannants and with exchange rates and shipping, I'm so used to seeing it being on the expensive side when it comes to buying from Overseas vendors.
-
Really? WoW! Is it with free shipping to North America or an equivalent price of combination of kit and shipping?
-
As a follow up, after a quick eBay search, here is an eBay seller from Grand Rapids offering the 110D Weekend Edition with free shipping. Here is another eBay seller out of the UK offering the Eduard 110E Weekend Edition kit for $20.39 with Free Shipping to the US. I am sure that you could find others. The good prices and deals are there to be found and had, just need to look for them.

The Eduard Bf.110C/D & E are all the same boxings. Instructions for them can be had from Eduard's website. As for price, I have bought many of my 110 kits off eBay and at some excellent prices, you just have to do a little poking around. Also, if you are not in a big hurry for the kit, sometimes patience pays off and you can find an extraordinary deal on one.

IMHO, the only Pz.IV Ausf.H kit to get right now would be the Dragon or Revell kit, really, it's a bit of a toss up between the two as they are both really well done. I haven't been able to find any pictures of the Modelcollect kit, but if it came with the Zimmerit as in the box art and if the quality was on par (or better) than the Revell or Dragon kits, then hands down, it's the one to beat.

new Airfix 1/72 Me262A kit decals question on accuracy

Fantastic, thank you Dave. You probably do not remember me, but we had met at one of the GOMBs shows in Calgary. -
new Airfix 1/72 Me262A kit decals question on accuracy
Wm Blecky replied to Wm Blecky's topic in Aircraft WWII
Thanks for your reply. It's interesting as Wadman and Brown's work for the day was supposed to be very accurate and well researched. I do not remember if it was released before or after the EagleCals sheet/research. It's amazing as time goes on how once "accurate" information is shown to be wrong or misinterpreted as new information is made available. I had met Dave Wadman several years ago, nice fellow. Sure wish I could cross paths again with him to get his take on this question today! I think it would be most interesting and a good history lesson for me. -
To my knowledge this new 262 kit is not yet out, but there are enough pictures of the box art and this has raised a question for me on the accuracy of what the "proposed" decals will be. Yellow 3 as the markings show has a blue and white checked fuselage band: This is similar to a 262 sheet from EagleCals from many years back: Where my question arises, I have a set of decals produced by Dave Wadman and Dave Brown (Experten Decals) that show the same aircraft with a green and white fuselage band: Does anyone know if there has been new information in the last number of years that confirms one or the other?

Hi Mike, I believe I did as they are being shipped to Canada. The best price that I saw on eBay was about $25 USD mail and that was for one. I paid $19 USD per set. Knowing my luck, they'll pop up for even less! LOL Now if I can only find a good price on those new Bf.109B kits...
