  1. Thanks for looking, and all the comments.Hopefully this year should result in a few more FAA builds. The Vixen is ready for painting,i've just started a SHAR FSR1 and i'm hoping to squeeze in a Buccy and a Sea Prince as well.
  2. Fab build.I think i'll have to add one to my list of must have kits.
  3. Superb.I'm hoping to build one of these for my FAA collection.
  4. Not great.Plenty of filler was needed, the intake splitter plates being a particularly poor fit.But with a bit of work, perseverence and the occasional swear word,it is possible to get a good result. The better modellers here will be able to do it far more justice than i have, but i'm pleased with it.
  5. I have finally finished the Supermarine Scimitar F1 that i started back in June.I was buillding it alongside the Sea Vixen which prolonged the build somewhat. In the end i put the Vixen on the backburner, and decided to finish this one.It wasn't an easy build but i'm quite pleased with the finished result.I haven't weathered this one at all as the decals option dipict the airframe as she was when she was newly painted and displayed at RIAT IN 2003.I remember this aircraft being used for deck handling practice at RNAS Culdrose when i was in the ATC,and i remember it being moved down to Aeropark near Helston, which i could see from my bedroom window.I moved away to Southampton and years later she was purchased by the Solent Sky museum in Southampton and painted in her current markings. She was displayed at RIAT in 2003 and then went into open storage in Timsbury near Romsey, about half a mile from my house. She has been somewhat neglected and is now in need of some TLC.
  6. I'll take a break from the Sea Vixen and Scimitar and try to rekindle some enthusiasm by finishing my Tamiya MkIIa Spit and Revell MkIIc Hurricane Trop, both of which are ready to have paint chucked at them.I put them on the back burner to do the FAA stuff and got bogged down in Xtrakit hell.
  7. The burnt metal effects on the tailpipes are amazing and the whole model looks so good.
  8. That is the dogs dangly bits. The details is superb.
  9. It may be sacrilage, but if one of these comes my way, even in pristine packaging,i'm building it.It is one of my fave aeroplanes.
  10. Nice Lightning. It does look very good despite the inaccuracies of the kit.
  11. I say old chap that is rather spiffing, what. My Dad was at Farnborough when the original DH110 crashed so tragically and took out some of the crowd as well as the crew..The mind boggles about unproven aircraft going supersonic over large crowds. In the immediate aftermath of that crash,to keep the crowd from getting out of hand, they kept them entertained by sending Neville Duke up in a Hunter to break the sound barrier. It was a very different world back then.
  12. Tops Harrier. You are right to be chuffed with that.
  13. Nice save on the Vulcan. It looks superb, and the Valiant is shaping up nicely as well.
  14. Nice cranberry.A great way to bring up your half century.
