  1. I’m pleased to announce that v1.1 of Building the British Phantoms Volume Two: The FGR.2 in RAF Service is now available. And to celebrate, for the next 7 days, we’ve reduced the price to a mere 18 Australian dollars! This update features some minor typographical polishing, and is not considered vital. This update is free for all existing purchasers, so if you’ve already bought and downloaded the book, we encourage you to grab it again by simply re-downloading it—either from your account if you have one, or by using the original download link in your order confirmation email. If you don’t have either of those things, please contact me and we’ll sort it out. New purchasers will always receive the latest version. Work on Volume Three continues apace, and it’s coming along very nicely. I figure we’re still on track for a release by the end of this month (September), so stay tuned for more news and updates! Kev
  2. I’m pleased to announce that our next title will be Building The British Phantoms Volume Three: The F-4J(UK) in RAF Service. This will complete Geoff Coughlin‘s massive 3-volume opus on the British Phantoms, following on from Volume One and Volume Two. As the title suggests, this volume will focus on the 15 airframes that were designated F-4J(UK), with the now-familiar chapters covering their evolution and key features, along with 9 kit builds, 3 excellent colour profiles by Simon Hill, and walkaround photos. The book will also feature a foreword by Group Captain Dick Northcote OBE BA RAF (Retd). Work is well under way, with a tentative release window set for early October. Stay tuned for more information and a formal release announcement as they come to hand! Kev
  3. I’m pleased to announce that our latest title, Scratchbuilding the Hawker Fury in 1/18 Scale, is now available! In this 415-page eBook, Peter Castle takes a set of plans and a grand idea, and turns them into a magnificent 1/18 scale model of the Hawker Fury biplane from the 1930s. Peter’s build features vacuum-forming, custom photo-etching, 3D printing, wood craving, metal working, litho-plate skinning, and much more besides. Along with a detailed step-by-step guide to how Peter conceived, constructed, and finished his model, we’ve also included four extensive tutorials detailing some of Peter’s methods, along with a Walkaround section that features over 160 photos of the preserved Hawker Fury at Cosford. This book is chock full of helpful ideas, tips, and techniques, and is a must-have for aspiring scratch-builders. And it’s available now for immediate purchase and download for just 20 Australian dollars. Kev
  4. The 7th title in our Build Guide Series, Building the Zoukei-Mura Ta 152H in 1/32 Scale by John Kim, turns 3 today. And to celebrate, we’ve reduced its price to just 10 Australian dollars for the next 7 days! So, dash on over to our webstore and grab yourself a bargain! Kev
  5. I’m pleased to announce that our next title, Scratchbuilding the Hawker Fury in 1/18 Scale by Peter Castle, has just reached the first draft stage! The final round of edits and proofing shouldn’t take long, so stay tuned for an official release announcement soon. Kev

  7. Thanks for all your kind words, fellas. I do have another Compass build planned, this time an A300-600 in the Mk I livery. I already have the decals from Hawkeye at the ready, and am just waiting on an F-RSIN kit. Kev
  8. The 6th title in our Build Guide Series, Building the Zoukei-Mura Ki-45 Kai Tei in 1/32 Scale by Jan Gabauer, turns 3 today. And to celebrate, for the next 7 days, we’ve reduced the price to just 9 Australian dollars! So, skip on over to our webstore and grab yourself a bargain! Kev
  9. I finished this one a few weeks back, and while I quite like the way it came it, for a variety of self-inflicted reasons, it wasn't really an enjoyable build. The decals are from Hawkeye Models Australia, though I had to replace the gold cheatline stripe with some from Intermodel. I also used some window decals from Authentic Airliners Decals. I only took a handful of photos of the finished model in the end, so here they are! Thanks for looking! Kev
  10. I’m pleased to announce that our next title will be Scratchbuilding the Hawker Fury in 1/18 Scale, by the fabulously talented Peter Castle, of airscale fame. Those of you who have seen Peter’s previous title, Building Race #80 Spitfire Mk XIVe in 1/18 Scale, will have an inkling of what to expect. This time, however, Peter is tackling a biplane, and building it entirely from scratch in his preferred 1/18 scale. The result, to no one’s surprise, is spectacular. Work has begun, but it’s too early to give any indication of when it will be available—though the target is September. Stay tuned for updates as they come to hand! Kev
  11. Phew, that was quick! Thanks to eagle-eyed customer Ferran Borrell for noticing that we’d misspelled the name of the pilot for Build 1, which occurs in the book no less than 213 times! Such are the advantages of digital publishing, however, that this rather egregious error was quick and easy to fix—and thus we now have v1.1 of Building the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa in 1/32 Scale. This update is free for all existing purchasers, so if you’ve already bought and downloaded the book, we strongly encourage you to grab it again by simply re-downloading it—either from your account if you have one, or by using the original download link in your order confirmation email. To be sure you have the latest version, you can check the version number located at the bottom of the Copyright page (iii): Sample Copyright page taken from Building the Hasegawa Fw 190D-9 in 1/32 Scale New purchasers will automatically receive the corrected version, so there’s nothing to worry about there. Our sincere apologies for this rather perplexing oversight! Kev
  12. I’m pleased to announce that our latest title, Building the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa in 1/32 Scale by Gary Boxall, is now available! In this 361-page eBook, award-winning modeller Gary Boxall describes the building, painting, and finishing process of three Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa kits! The first build uses Aviattic lozenge decals to portray Eugen Siempkamp’s Pfalz D.IIIa, and is a comprehensive guide to building the model. For the second build, Gary opts for a fully-painted finish to portray the markings of Hans-Georg von der Marwitz’s Pfalz D.IIIa. The third and last build sees Gary backdate the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa kit to the earlier D.III, finished as Alois Heldmann’s aircraft. The book also includes tutorials on rigging, and masking & painting over decals, along with our usual Appendices of aftermarket products and reference material. And as with all our books, should any updates be required, anyone who purchased a prior version gets lifetime free access to all subsequent updated versions! All new purchasers will of course receive the updated version automatically. So, dash on over to our webstore and grab yourself a bargain! Kev
  13. I’m pleased to announce that our next title, Building the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa in 1/32 Scale by Gary Boxall, has reached the first draft stage! The development of this title has been much more iterative than our usual approach, which means that an official release of the final version is now only mere days away. In this book, award-winning modeller Gary Boxall describes the building, painting, and finishing process of not one Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa kit, but three! Since the construction of the two models is almost identical, we’ve limited coverage of this build to the painting and finishing. The third and last build sees Gary backdate the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa kit to the earlier D.III, moving the machine guns inside the fuselage, along with sundry other modifications. The model is finished as Alois Heldmann’s aircraft. Page count will be in the 360 range, and the release version is imminent, so please stay tuned for the official announcement in the coming days! Kev

And of course, new purchasers will always receive the latest version. “An excellent tour de force. I like the format very much and it is easy to follow, thorough. Peter Castle is the dedicated modeler that my book was intended to help. That he took his effort to such an extreme is truly amazing. He deserves every award and recognition coming his way. People say “it’s not brain surgery” but in his case I would have to say “it’s exactly that”. Such fine detail, the making of thousands of parts, developing techniques to make each part. Awesome!” – Paul Monforton, Canada “Hands down one of the best modelling books I’ve ever read.” – Chris Becker, Australia Kev

  21. I’m pleased to announce that our next title will be Building the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa in 1/32 Scale, by Gary Boxall. If you’ve seen Gary’s previous KLP title covering the Wingnut Wings Felixstowe, then you’ll know what to expect. This time, however, Gary has built not one, but three examples of the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.IIIa kit! Build 1: Eugen Siempkamp’s Pfalz D.IIIa Build 2: Hans-Georg von der Marwitz’s Pfalz D.IIIa Build 3: Alois Heldmann’s Pfalz D.III (Conversion) Build 1 will cover the full build in comprehensive detail, while Builds 2 and 3 will focus more on those elements that are different from the main build.
