  1. "Honey-hush!" Sadly, they don't ship to the UK. At least I know they're available. Thanks a lot...
  2. Love that car, loking forward to seeing it completed. Is there a 'Bandits' Trans Am kit available? That's my favourite movie/TV car.
  3. I have a IMAI Harley waiting to be built so will be watching this with interest.
  4. Great to see so much effort going in to a £10 kit. As a newby, my budget is carefully limited to my ability but seeing your build of a budget kit come together is inspiring.
  5. Staff car wins it for me, too. Tough choice though as they're all brilliant!
  6. Absolutely love that. Admittedly, I'm biased as I love retro hot rods and beach buggies but your build is brilliant. It reminds me of the kind of thing Ed Roth or George Barris would have turn out back in the 60s. Great setting, too.
  7. That's brilliant! Looks like it's just been driven off the set of Camblewick Green/Trumpton/Chigley...
  8. That looks brilliant. The truck reminds me of a TV show I loved as a kid, BJ and the Bear...
  9. Saw one of these Caddys in flesh at Techno Classica in Essen a few weeks ago. Huge! Great build you've done there, love the blue. Don't forget, your Herald had 'fins' too.
  10. These are the Pens I think we've been using. Molotow Liquid Chrome Pen. They do take a long time to dry and dull if touched too soon. They are great though. They are available in a couple of different nib sizes and refills are available. I'm now looking for a black paint pen, if anyone can recommend one that'd be great. Apologies if I'm not suppose to post links to items for sale. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Molotow-Liquid-Chrome-Pump-Marker/dp/B01E7EG3NM
  11. Enjoying this build, it's coming along great. One tip I'd like to share is that I like to paint the car bodies while they're 'in the air'. I've been using a Nescafé Azera tin with cocktail sticks pushed in to the rubber lid. The sticks can be adjusted easily and they stay put with the body resting on top. You can also pick the tin up with the body on to ensure you've applied paint to the underside of the sills and bumpers.
  12. Brilliant looking build you've done there. Didn't realise wheels were available to buy separately!
  13. This is the exact kit that I'm aspiring to build (reasonably well). If it looks anything like yours I will be chuffed to bits. I see Tamiya offer the Lotus as a kit, too. Is the Ebbro kit a better standard or are they basically the same kit?
  14. That is a fabulous looking model, amazing standard of detail!
  15. Thank you all for your kind comments, it's much appreciated!
  16. Many thanks! Sure the mirror isn't far away... They are pretty awesome cars (rust aside). We will be definately getting another one next. Wife currently has a new Polo GTI (she hates it), so she won't really consider anything else when it comes to changing her car.
  17. Following on from the great advice I received from Roy, regarding the Bug Cabrio I posted on the forum last week, I had to get stuck straight in to another build... I have had this Tamiya Mazda MX5 for some time having chosen to build one to give to my wife. My wife has had a few MX5s over the years and a red Mk1 NA model was her first and I thought it would be a nice gesture to build her a model to remember her old, much cherished car by. Turns out this wasn't such a great idea as she immediately asked if we could get a real one for summer. Tut. Anyway, I followed Roys advice regarding painting the car as best as I could with the main difference being that I had to do my rattle can spraying in the garden due to the fumes and excess paint landing on everything in my office. The recent warm weather and the bright red paint brought the kamikaze bugs and insects out in force but I have managed to remove most of them. Not an ideal setting for spray painting anything, especially bright red cars, but until I have invested in a desk top extractor (are they any good), it will have to do. The kit went together really well with no real issues. There is an option for a hard top but I don't see the point building the interior only to hide it. The body was given a couple of coats of grey primer followed by 6 light coats of the red with wet n dry rub downs in between. The body was then finshed with 3M Finesse it and Dodo Juice automotive wax. I was tempted to have a go at widening the rear number plate recess to better match that of a UK spec car and making number plates to match my wifes old car but lack of skills (this is my 4th car build) but pay to that. To have built a perfect tribute to my wifes old car would have also involved creating lots of 'rust' around the bottom half of the whole car. Maybe next time... Couple of other things I learnt whilst building this model it not to go mad with the wet n dry... it doesn't take much to expose the primer (or even the plastic on the raised details). The other thing I learnt was not to leave Revells brush cleaner in a plastic cup. I returned to my office after about 5 hours only to find that the cup had melted and that the cleaning fluid had leaked onto a shelf, ruining it and also melting the undercarriage on a couple of the Airfix starter plane kits I built last year. Oh well, every day's a school day. Apologies for the quality of the pictures, but here are some for you to check out. Again, any feedback, critical or otherwise is hugely appreciated. Just noticed one of the mirrors has already been 'dusted off'... Must find that before the hoover does.
  18. That is a magnificent model. It's early days for me with regards model building but I have my lates Grandfathers Cowells lathe gathering dust that I'd love to think could be used to build even just one part of a model like yours. He built a 3.5" Gauge live steam train (same as the one below) using the lathe so I'm hoping some of his skills have rubbed off on me. So far, any skills that he may have passed on have remained very hidden...
  19. Great to see the bug completed. You've done a brilliant job. Look forward to checking out your next build
