  1. Very nice model! The free hand camo is great, what airbrush did you use? As for dirt,I'd go a smidge dustier, but not much! Very nice,I like it!
  2. Tried a few new tricks with this one including different shades of OD and Earth Brown. ProMods washes were used as was dirt from the yard. Vision ports are Future with blue food coloring. A fun weekend build!
  3. I think it looks good, could use a bit of dirt, but nice build and agreed,FUN is the key!
  4. Thanks for the compliments! I had a few details pointed out that I've since fixed. Does anyone know how or even if there are set patterns to vehicle camo schemes? I'm not sure if it's 'artistic license' taken by the unit or vehicle crews or if the military has a pattern to be followed.
  5. Not my best build. I had huge issues with the seamline on the bottom of the fuselage, the decals silvered like a b*tch and Eduards paint masks were over sized except for the windscreen. I used liquid mask on the round fuselage windows and had nine kinds of hell getting the stuff off. Anyway, mostly my mistakes. The chopper depicts the one based not far from my home that flys around the area on a regular basis. Your comments always welcomed!
  6. First time trying to do a camo scheme. Used Play Doh as a mask, guitar wire for the antennas. After painting,I flat coated then dry brushed then while flat coating again discovered the flat coat gave a nice dusty (not dirty) look. I sprayed at a high PSI from 2 feet away so the clear coat dried prior to hitting the model. Then I used ProMods mud and sand wash for a more dusty look.
  7. Actually, the wheel wells have real dirt that's been ground up very fine. I used Future as a an adhesive and there's some dirt on the hull. ProMods wash and Tamiya weather chalks were also used.
  8. The Play Doh left absolutely NO residue what so ever. It's very easy the shape and conforms perfectly to any shape. I've used it a few times on some old armor kits as test beds and the results were great! I'm working on an Abrams that will have the NATO camo scheme,I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  9. Hope everyone had a great holiday season! I stayed busy with these: M-113 M-8 Greyhound AC-47 Spooky Revel's kit, first time doing camo. I used Play Doh for masking
  10. Very nice build! Yes, weathering is as fickle as a woman!!!! Practice and time would amaze you with the results! Thanks for posting!
  11. My Squadron Walk Around book says the M-3 Lee with the smaller turret and machine gun cupola was for the US. Another book; Standard Guide to US WW2 Tanks and Artillery (Konrad Schreier Jr) states the Grant was US used and the Lee British used. Just one of those things where contradictions abound.
  12. Was the M-3 used by the US named the Lee or the Grant? I've read 4 pieces on the matter and 2 say one and 2 say the other. Anyone here know for sure?
  13. Thanks all! Obi-Jiff,Hobby Boss makes a line of vehicles based on the V-100 including one with a 90mm gun that builds just as easily as this one.
  14. This is the Hobby Boss 1:35 kit and it really is a joy to build. Many fiddly parts yet easy to work with. The vision ports are very easy to mask with liquid masking agent. I used Future with green food coloring on the ports and guitar wire for the radio antenna. These vehicles traveled paved roads and sometimes dirt, but they never went "off roading" like their jungle busting big brothers which is why I just made it dusty as opposed to dirty. I used ground up dirt from the yard in the wheel wells as well as for the dusty look. The entire model was then dry brushed to bring out the details and then misted with ProModelers mud then sand wash. As always comments are welcomed! This vehicle depicts the 720th MP Battalion home based in Fort Hood,Texas. This model will be a gift to their CO; LTC Eric D Brunken.
