Che grande costruzione. Vorrei che schemi così colorati fossero disponibili in 1/72 mentre sto appena tornando in questa era USAF.
Pete

Very nice Stuka.
In Italy we called it "Picchiatello", a play on words because "picchiata" means dive (i.e. dive bomber = bombardiere in picchiata) but picchiatello also sounds like "little crazy"🤪. Picchiatello was also the italian name of a Jerry Lewis character
The italian translation of group is "Gruppo"
Just for the sake of my language, I apologize in advance if I should appear pedantic

F-14 engine nozzle "parking" position
From "Home of M.A.T.S."
QuoteThe TF30's afterburner nozzles are regulated open or closed individually by each engine's afterburner fuel control system. The afterburner fuel control pumps are individually operated using the hydraulic pressure produced by the combined and flight hydraulic systems. The port engine powers the combined hydrualic system and the starboard engine powers the flight hydraulic system.
The Tomcat has a "weight on wheels" switch and a "weight off wheels" switch. When weight is "on wheels" (on deck) the nozzles are commanded open to reduce thrust produced by the engines to keep from blowing over ground personnel. When the weight is "off wheels" (airborne) the nozzles will close any time when being in "basic engine" from idle to military power (highest thrust without selecting afterburner) and will open up as afterburner is staged. This feature gives added thrust at idle when being airborne. The switches are mechanically operated by the main landing gear scissors assemblies, but need electrical power to function. When electrical power is taken off the jet completely, the aircraft will default to the weight off wheels condition where the nozzles close so that if there happened to be a total electrical failure airborne you would still have the same amount of thrust at idle that you always do airborne.I like symmetry so, if I have a choice, I choose this option however there are photos of parked planes in every configuration. I did another tomcat with the open nozzles because I had seen it like this in the picture

thank you @hewy , thank you @Col.

Thank You
I know that it is not considered a vehicle up to the standard of other armored vehicles and that it has several critical issues, but I must say that it has some style, as a good Italian.
seen live is very beautiful (my pic)

Hi
it should be almost done. I just have to give the satin coat, make 2 aim-7 missiles and redo the aim-9, I don't like the ones I put

Beautiful subject and your model is coming along wonderfully!
I hope it's just a technicality for your consideration, but felt obliged to note that VF-21 didn't actually participate in Desert Storm - they and the rest of CVW-14 aboard CV-62 USS Independence were deployed to the theater following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in August 1990, in the build-up named Desert Shield, but they rotated home before the start of combat (Desert Storm) in January 1991 (Source)
That air wing and timeframe has always been popular for modelers since they were widely photographed during the build-up prior to combat, and they had a CAG aircraft from each squadron featuring black tails and full color artwork (otherwise exceptionally rare in that era). For anyone interested on this group build, VF-154 was the other Tomcat squadron of CVW-14 at that time.
Thank You @CT7567 You are completely right. Fortunately I am within the terms of the other Group Build I am participating (simply called "Gulf War" in an Italian modelling site), because it includes the entire period from 2 August 1990 to 28 February 1991
I also have the decals for the VF-154 CAG but the same subject was already built by another participant

Hi!
Some time has passed since the last update, in this time I have completed an armored vehicle that has been waiting for a long time
but I have also almost finished the tomcat!
after having mounted the air intakes without problems, I started paintingpreshading :
paint job part 1
At this point I decided to change the subject because in reality I have already done a tomcat of the VF-1 and that's what I like best
I still had to choose a plane that had participated in Desert Storm and I chose this one from VF-21So.. Paint job part 2
Decaling

Hi!
This is one of the first times that I show a model in this section of the forum because I mostly do airplanes and some airplane related AFV
I made this armored car to remember a friend who served in the corp it belongs to, the Cavalry

@Hook after buying the kit I looked for information on the proposed subjects, the high visibility one I already knew well having done it, of the low visibility one I did not find real photos, indeed, I did not find photos of other subjects who had similar gray markings
I joined the fuselage and nose together. luckily I had to use very little putty, the joints are good. the air vents are not glued yet

Thanks @Ale85 , you're doing fine too

Nice choice
Check if in the kit there are the pieces N2 and N7, they are the late gun covers with the naca air vents. both nsawc subjects have them like this

Hi!
Thank You @Col. and @stevej60
Some little progress
I glued the fuselage shells, removed the mould seams on the canopy, polished them and dipped in the Future wax

Hi
I also have the same kit but I will not use the decals included because they are wrong .. the hi-viz version had serial 158979 (not 159434) and had a early type beaver tail during the first cruise, in the low-viz version the serial number is definitely wrong, it belong to a VF-11 tomcat, I don't know the right one

PS: I suggest not even following step 3 and not painting in insignia red the entire leading edge of the wings

Yes, the F8 and F9 parts, for this area I have decided not to follow the instructions and not to remove the edges indicated in step 2. glove vanes were usually disabled and welded shut in the field as more trouble than they were worth
