Thank you for the Heads-up, Thomas! Valuable information. May I ask where in Germany you live? Greetings from Krefeld -

I bought a flat miniature at a show once, to give it a try. I'm shure I still have it somewhere. Never saw any paint. Now I'm thinking again of doing it, more than a decade later -

Wow, flat miniatures are a rare sight! Brilliant painting. Did you use only oils or did you paint them over acrylic basecoats as it's done around here? -
I Don't like the fact it looks like a sticker album, but that livery is not your fault. Personally I'd probably build it without most of the racing decals. I really dig the black stripe on yellow, though. Good build all around, thank you for showing!

C, you know I would if I could. I spent some serious money on the Pocher, but more than double that on top for the transkit. There is no way you'll see me rush this build. This is going to be an epic journey, at least to me, and probably a once in a lifetime experience. I'll do the very best I can and then some, will take no shortcuts and not be satisfied with "good enough". It has to be perfect. And this starts with having a proper room for working on it. So today we took down one half of our future homes roof, the structure is going to be rebuilt and adapted this week. When this is on the way we will take down the remaining half. Quotes are coming in for windows, heating and all that stuff. So yes, it will take some more time before I will finally be able to start my journy. But finally I see some progress on that 1:1 scale project.

Some didn't even start yet, though it is sooo tempting.

Just don't. Gun will probably be tunable for basecoats. Nothing more. Compressor will be pure rubbish. Membrane type, so super loud and not enough pressure. No tank, so the air will be pumping. No Pressure regulation. Just don't.

Really love the original setting you made up for this. Especially with those unexpected colours it looks outlandish but still somehow like an alternative earth. Somewhat this screams B-Movie to me. Only the red-orange pools are a bit over the top in my book. The "camo" doesn't even look strange in that landscape.

YES PLEASE!!! Still following and liking what you show here. Some tricks to learn as well. -
Super tidy. Wouldn't mind taking a ride in it if it was for real. The underside is really beautifully detailed, cannot understand why they do make their kits curbsides if they are up to such quality. On the other side my recently posted Revell Lambo has a full motor and transmission of which nearly nothing is seen after completing the model... But fitment and overall quality in the areas that can be seen is not so great. Ah well...

Thank you, Alan. The Bodypanels where printed (!) with something along the lines "made for Revell in Shenzen, PRC". No additional Information on the original boxing. Scalemates shows no connection to Italeri for this particular kit, but that's no safe bet. -
Sewing boxes. They are very common here. Can be picked up second hand super cheap. Something like this I mean, but a little more basic. Just to give you the idea. https://www.amazon.de/Rodnik-Nähkästchen-Nähkasten-Nadelkissen-Schmuckkästchen/dp/B00IG9V7M2/ref=pd_sbs_201_5/261-4314385-0195014?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00IG9V7M2&pd_rd_r=0c22ca1b-9a48-11e9-b32b-6be2ebd92ef7&pd_rd_w=TS4nc&pd_rd_wg=5Glv3&pf_rd_p=74d946ea-18de-4443-bed6-d8837f922070&pf_rd_r=1WT4T6MS8CXX348CY8TE&psc=1&refRID=1WT4T6MS8CXX348CY8TE

Heading to the RFI-Section!
-
As promised in the WIP-section, some pictures of the completed Diablo. A few build-pictures can be found there as well as a little more info. Wiper deliberately left off as it seemed massively overscaled and wouldn't fit correctly. Couldn't be bothered, to be honest. Maybe someday I'll do or find a better one. Probably not. First some shots from all sides, trying to catch the model as well as the aggressive pose. Next some Moneyshots for your preferenced car magazine I love that reflection from the flash on the badges edge I love those rims. Kit chrome stripped. Completely painted in Vallejo Model Air Aluminium, black wash all over, outer ring and Lugnuts Molotov chrome. Badge is Kit decal and fitted perfectly. I hope you like it. Not perfect, but fun and quick to build. Pictures were taken in its recent display place in our bookshelf. Quite a critical colour combination to take good pictures of.

did you use wiggly eyes as round detail?! That's brilliant -

superb paintwork. Fitting, and - surprising with this kind of kit - very believable. Most weathered Mechs I see are simply weathered like a car or tank with paint chipping off and rust and all that. But as you say - it needs to be to scale to work its full effect. I think you really did achieve this -

I'd also like where you got this. Their website still quotes it as coming soon... That war elephant they have looks very good, too. Quality seems to be absolute top notch. Will follow your progress!

Excellent sheet metal skills! One of the things I'll have to learn sometime soon. -
Oh what a rabbithole you showed me there. Looks like there's already work done on extracting models from Grand Turismo Sport. Just wow.
-
Perfect, Thank you!

Great to see you back. Beautiful model of an iconic car. Blue is the best colour for those, in my book. Suits them so well. Thank you so much for showing!

Wow, lots of great stuff going on! Do you print in Resin or with Filament? Would you mind sharing your sources for 3d-models? I am sure 3d-printing will be added to my toolbox in the not too distant future. And as you do I plan to go with big models, probably 1/8th. Right now I am rebuilding a house, moving will happen some time next year, I think. Then it'll be a Pocher F40 with Autograph to keep me occupied for quite some time. By then I'm sure a 3d printer will have landed at my doorstep. Viele Grüße aus Krefeld, Jan

Caterham R500 Custom Build - 1/12
Schwarz-Brot replied to caterhamnut's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
Great to see you return to this build. I see your seats have an extreme amount of supports. I thought the model would be pulled out of the resin layer by layer, so there'd be no support needed as long as the parts are connected to each other? Seems like I am wrong with that. Can you evaluate this a little, please? The seats turned out great. I try every now and then to get some splined parts to behave with fusion, but I most often cannot get it right. So you have my respect for designing the seats to your needs. Keep the updates coming, I'll be watching!
