  1. Fantastic. Lovely build, great detail. Brings back memories of visiting my Grandma just down the road from Culdrose - the long drive around the perimeter fence nose pressed against the window seeking out the helicopters like this one.
  2. Steve, I looked at it all again this morning and the tailplanes are the right way up as there is a detail on them that indicates the correct way up. As I said, my lack of knowledge, will correct it next time...there will be anext time! Appreciate your positive comments as well. Simon
  3. Enjoying the build so far Squibby...looking good too! Think I have one of these to build in the not too distant future. So trying to keep up and pay serious attention. Simon
  4. Looking at it again, you are right they aren't horizontal. That just seemed to be the way that they fit on the kit...shows up my ignorance on the topic! However, next time I will know and see how I can correct it! Thanks for pointing it out. Thanks for the comments guys. I think it is a lovely kit! Simon
  5. My fave was the chunky Boomerang...then I saw your prototype of the Mustang...and then the spit! Great collection. Simon
  6. I am really enjoying getting back into this plastic building malarkey...this is straight out of the box with an attempt at my own seat belts. I wanted to try weathering this model and am appreciative of the tips given by others on the forums and through looking at their WIPs. Pretty sure I have only scratched the surface of this skill. The build was straightforward, the paints Humbrol enamels, some off the shelf washes and some oils used too. All comments and advice really appreciated before I tackle the next one. Thanks for looking Simon
  7. Lovely build. Am sure Barry will be a happy bunny! Simon
  8. Wow, such a fantastic idea and execution. I love the photography, especially the last shot from the rear, very realistic. Simon
  9. Enjoyed the WIP...sad to say my OOB builds take that long too! Without the making it up as I go along. Seriously though I learnt a few things from the build. Thanks The finished article looks great. Simon
  10. Looks good. Just putting the finishing touches to mine this weekend...hope its half as good as yours. Like you I have really enjoyed building it. Simon
  11. lovely kit. Really like the blue part of the scheme. Simon
  12. This model is next on the bench...(who am I kidding - kitchen table!) so Graham Boak and James - useful info to look out for! Simon
  13. As the tumbleweed rolled across the main street a mean looking gunslinger strode purposefully into town... meanwhile on BM someone wants to take a seat and follow! If that's ok with you? Looking good so far Simon
  14. Looks great...love the close up photos Simon
  15. A lovely looking build and finish James. For the oil stains, what and how much do you add to the black oil paint to thin it out? I am looking to start adding weathering and detail such as this so would appreciate advice/help. Simon
  16. Looks great. What thread did you use for the rigging? Simon
  17. Two lovely builds. Wish I had the skill set to match your Whitley with mine. Might be a while before I try and finish it! Simon
  18. Like the weathering. What did you use for the oil residue trail from the exhaust? Lovely looking model. Simon
  19. Fantastic looking model, the photos are superb. I kept seeing this on the WIP but never opened it...regret that now! Will have to trawl back through and check out some of the techniques you used. Inspirational. Simon
  20. lovely looking detailed. Airfix's P-51D is my next build. Hope I can do it half as well as yours!
  21. thanks for the positive comments. looking now I see what you mean about the prop! As you said assembled the only way that looked right. Not the end of the world as I learnt a lot about so many other things.
  22. Thanks for all the advice and comments. Jean - I bet not too many on here would be able to say this: Just looked over the next project and yep...more yellow. Think I might be putting the advice into practice very soon! Simon
