You're right! My photography skills aren't all that! Am saving for a decent camera, and the course to go with it . . .!

Very sharp indeed! Having just done a Kiwi Skyhawk, am now keen to do an aggressor as well! What paints did you use? Paul

Sounds fascinating. Can you shed any light on this? Paul

Armstrong Whitworth Sea Hawk FGA.4 (Hobbyboss 1/72)
PaulR replied to pivokrevnik's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Am working on this one right now! Hope it turns out as good as yours! Paul -
Hi there, well, another that has probably been lurking partly done for about 8-9 years! Finally got it together to finish it . . . Academy kit with Aeroclub F5 rear fuselage, Wolfpack leading edge conversion, Maestro wheels and pitot, Squadron (I think) canopy (the sliding part anyway) and a spare ejection seat from a CA Canberra suitably modified. Decals were from Aeromaster, which didn't perform as well as expecte, and, oh, a shed load of filler. Still all came together, and now I only need to complete my Javelin and Meteor F8 to have a complete line up of RAF fighters from 1939 to date, all in 1/48th. I need a bigger house. . . Paul

Evening again, on a roll now with Photobucket, so another model I have just finished. It is the vanilla A-4E with scratchbuilt cockpit mods, fin RWR and wingtip antennas all fabricated out of plastic card or rod. Am really pleased with it; it is the first Skyhawk I have built, and the European One camo really seems to suit it. I used the Gekko Graphics sheet for it (part 2), and a Wolfpack Maverick launcher; I was planning on using an Italeri maverick, but the clear lens was rather inaccurate. I see Eduard have just announced some mavericks - might have to get these! All in all, made a pleasant change from my normal diet of RAF machines and the Battle of Britain . . . Paul

Evening all, Haven't posted in a while, because I have had about five projects on the go . . . without actually finishing any! Anyway, here is a few shots of the first 1/32 model I have attempted. The kit is the Revel Typhoon; accurate, but tricky (but not impossible) to put together. I have used Xtradecals for the 1 sqn markings, but also used Two Bobs for stenciling and the serials, which are a peculiar light blue on the Xtradecal sheet. I also used the full range of Two Mikes resin for it; FOD intake covers, APU exhaust, and inner pylons, plus Aires burner cans. The latter were fab, but easily broken. I also scratch built seatbelts from wine bottle foil, and little antennas around the nose, and just behind the canopy. Paints were Tamiya XF19 for the Barley grey, and XF80 for the light aircraft grey for the wheel wells and ASRAAMS. Now for that 100sqn anniversary Hawk in 1/32 . . .

Hmm. Odd. It works on my pc. I have just googled this search aims ju-88 a1 1/72 And select the first hit. This will take you to an extended 1/72 page with the A1 conversion/decal sheets at the bottom. Hope this helps. Paul

Hi there, pretty sure do AIMS do an A-1 conversion, I think they do it with a choice of different decal schemes as well for 10 quid. Google this and you should find it. Www.aimsmodel.co.uk/html/prices.html Scroll to the bottom of the page. Oddly enough, if you google Aims models the website you get doesn't show this page - but you can navigate from the address above back to the website homepage?! Keen to do one of these myself! Paul

Totally agree-top scheme! just need xtradecal to do this and 41 sqn T3 marks and I will be a happy chap... as long as they get the typhoon serials the right colour this time! Paul

One! I'm in with a CA F8! Best regards, Paul.

Fab job with the kit I will have buried with me as a homage to the modelling gods! Paul -
Hallo Rich, Cheers for the link - very useful! Will post pics tomorrow-didn't want to clash with your work, as I suspect yours will be rather better! Regards, Paul

Now that I didn't know... out comes the scalpel for my build... Paul

1/72 A2Zee Early Lightning Conversion set for Airfix!

Ordered...now Iget to build that 56 Sqn Checkertailed F3! Paul -
Yes, those antennas under the wing tips are a bit fiddly to fabricate, are they not?! Halfway through mine; just got to sand them to shape! Am also doing a maverick load out with a missile pinched from an italeri Gripen; a training sidewinder for the other pylon for colour, I think! Top work on the pilot, by the by! Paul

1/48 Revell Eurofighter Typhoon, Austrian Markings
PaulR replied to Delayar's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Excellent result! Am a big fan of the Austrian typhoons; am still hoping they will apply staffel badges and big dayglo numbers on the wings! Paul -
Am doing this exact same kit with the exact same decal sheet with the exact same marking choice! Will be watching your project with great interest! Paul

Evening all, am very excited about this new tornado, but does anybody know if it the LRMTS of the GR1, and the FLIR for the GR4 on the standard sprues? Was rather hoping to do a 27 sqn GR1 from the Royal East Anglian AirForce circa 1980s! Regards Paul

PaulR replied to PaulR's topic in Aircraft Modern
Thanks for all the pointers chaps! -
Evening all! All as per the title, really - can you mod the revell rf-4e into a USAFE rf-4c? I'd like to a 10th TRW phantom - am on a bit of a USAFE 80s kick, but can't find/afford the hasegawa kit! Many thanks for any pointers. Paul

Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary GB for 2015?
PaulR replied to Procopius's topic in Group Build Chat 2020
Well, I'll sure as heck will second it! Paul -
First time I've put up for the BM Yearbook . . . at first, I thought I'd only have 3 or 4 completed models, but on examination I've been a bit more productive than I thought. No particular theme beyond my usual diet of British planes, but I've ventured out into the Austrian airforce and the USN for kicks! 1/48th Hasegawa Super Hornet with Fightertown decals and Hasegawa weapons and SHARP pod. 1/48 Revell Typhoon, with Xtradecals for the 3 sqn 100th anniversary jet. Includes the Two Mikes APU. Don't normally do anniversary planes, but this is just too cool to miss. Probably my favourite project from the year. ICM 1/48 Spitfire VIII, with decals from the Kagero book on the type. This includes a Tamiya windscreen and canopy and tail wheel, and scratch built radio mast and oleo scissors links to replace the kit items. This one fought me all the way, but I'm glad I've completed it; the desert scheme is not one that appears in my cabinet, something I need to fix. A pair of 1/72 Austrian airforce 'planes; a Hasegawa Draken from the Revell boxing, and a Revell Typhoon. Plan to add a Tunnan in due course, hopefully with the proposed 2015 Small Airforces Group build. Airfix have taken an increasingly disproportionate share of my disposable income this year, a trend that looks to continue! These are the Gladiator in 73sqn marks, and the super Vampire T22 with Admiral Barge marks from the Xtradecal sheet. The ME109 was from my annual Battle of Britain project in the summer, and completed with JG27 marks from the Xtradecal Battle of Britain sheet. Finally. . . an Xtrakit Meteor T7 in FAA marks - this was part of the FAA group build this year. There it is . . . roll on 2014!

I'd be up for this! Can I 'baggsy' Austria? PaulR -
A terrific job with a occasionally challenging kit- did a 23 sqn example a year or so back, and have got 111sqn and 25sqn examples to follow! Am wondering how fast it will take revell to release the F3 version of their upcoming tornado...
