  1. 1:48 Academy MIG-29 AS Fulcrum - Slovak Air Force Gday BM mates, I've finally caught up to my build posts !! This project is the 1:48 Academy MIG-29 AS Fulcrum, Slovak Air Force version with the digital aggressor scheme. Can't believe I was considering painting the scheme from scratch !! I added Eduard PE and PJ Productions Rafale pilot (MIG29 pilot was sold out ta the time). The kit was relatively painless to build however I learnt the following: Decals cover large areas so they either didn't fit certain areas such as the intake vents or just broke in areas, so I need to mix the right tone of black (tyre black and black) to touch up those areas - no problems . The lighter grey shade of the decal and the Ghost Grey required by the paint instructions are actually quite close so its a little harder to see the variation between these greys so you might consider changing the base grey a little to suit the decal grey. You would need to get a real even coat of varnish over the decals to even the surface between the decals and the base paint if you were doing a weathering wash. I chose to get a gritty finish however I didn't quite get this evenness of varnish so the was got caught around decal edges here and there and was difficult to get even wash finish over decal and non-decal areas. Tried to even up with panel line colouring. Some smaller parts and exhausts were brittle and broke so had to repair or replace, for struts, pins made good replacements. But overall I'm pretty happy as it was a harder kit to finish off and I learnt alot making it. Hope you like it. Cheers Jeremy Exhausts quite brittle so got a little damaged, I used some thin masking tape to line the inner walls. First application of wash. Struts quite weak for the air-brakes so will replace with pins. This particular landing gear wouldn't sit up so needed to reinforce with a pin. Used pins to replace landing gear door struts. All done !! Thanks for stopping by. RFI is here: Cheers JJ
  2. Thanks Joachim, great feedback, I'm definitely developing my skills to take more time to get the finer details but not quite there yet. Cheers JJ
  3. 1:48 Freedom F-20A Tigershark Hi my BM mates....... Nearly caught up with posting my builds !! One of my old favorites, the F-20 Tigershark. Back in the day, I didn't know this was actually an upgraded prototype of the F-5, I just thought they looked similar. This one is pretty much OOB with the exception of the pilot from PJ productions (couldn't find F-5 pilot so just got a F-104 pilot). Hope you like it !! WIP is here: Cheers JJ Thanks for checking it out. Cheers JJ

  5. Your not helping my indecision mate 😄 But that is probably the best Eurofighter scheme I've seen - like the Spit ....
  6. Cool kit John, this one is definitely on my list (my list is like a stash but virtual), I was tossing up between Eurofighter, Rafael or Gripen and this kit kept coming out on top in my mind so look forward to following the build. Cheers JJ
  7. Thanks mate, not sure what variant the engines are though the kit comes with a lot of different variants as I think the same kit is used for about 4 different academy kits. Cheers mate
  8. 1:48 Academy F-4C Phantom - Satan's Angels - Vietnam Hi there BM Peeps !! Took a while to get back and get this posted, even finished another one and half way through a new one so please excuse the slackness, I piled a whole heap of new projects in front of me !! I used to make the Navy Phantoms but this particular kit made it to the stash because my Son took a real focused interest on the Vietnam war so I thought I thought I'd try to back up my cammo spitfire effort with this one.... Actually the motivation to get on with it came from watching another BM build and others followers showed this particular kit in their stash.... and based on the caliber of these BMs, I did not want to be following them so I suitably freaked out and put the skates on. I included the Big Ed goodies kit in this one but one of the main leanings was somewhat of an epiphany... Last time I tried a varnish on my F-16, I failed big time, then after watching more builds here, I started to understand what I wanted to do and used a diluted satin varnish. This not only fixed my issue with Academy "glossy" decal finishes, but it also helped me improve my weathering... So I'm going to start some repaints once I've finished my current project. WIP is here: Hope you like it !! Cheers JJ Thanks for having a check, cheers JJ

I'm just going to get all the photos in with little or no comments as I'm behind schedule on my BM postings !! Hope you like it !! Cheers JJ Realised I put the wrong cockpit panel in ... Antenna broke so went to my go to fix up.... toothpicks..... My satin varnish epiphany ...... Hope you liked it RFI is here: Cheers JJ
  10. Hi Pappy, thanks mate. For the storm grey, I found many references but would of had to get a chemist to do the mix !! In the end I found an A-7 I built a while back was close so I went with it - Light Gull Grey !!
  11. Cheers Greg, the Sydney looks great, and the upgraded mod too !! Really nice detail, I can see the places where you've gone that extra mile - right about when I lost my nerve !!
  12. Cheers, yes the PE set comes with the kit - its Pontos. The one that came with the kit was the basic PE however there's an advanced PE kit with way more detail. I opted to go this way because I've only just started working with this type of PE and ultimately this will be displayed in my office so the detail would probably be overlooked. That said, now in hindsight, I would have gone with the advanced kit...
