  3. 1:48 F/A-18C Hornet - RAAF 3 Squadron 75th Anniversary Gday folks, My latest project is the Hobbyboss 1:48 F/A-18C Hornet based on the 3 Squadron 75th Anniversary scheme from my home country's Royal Australian Air Force. The Hobbyboss kit was quite detailed and included a lot of parts. The only pitfall was that there was a gap in the front canopy which I had to fill. I also had PE issues with the cockpit IP however fixed as good as I could and vowed to try harder next time !! I added Dream Model PE and a pilot from PJ Productions as well as the decals from Novascale. Just a note on this build, this version is supposed to be F/A-18A however I chose the C based on what the kit had to offer. I have also taken a little artistic licensing with the armament/payload markings to add detail. Hope you like it.... Cheers JJ
  4. Starting with cockpit/pilot..... Right side a little crocked but fixed up a little later prior to canopy going on... And now for the main fuselage/wings etc.... Taking the pilot torso off to fix the PE on the IP. Starting on instruments and smaller fuselage fittings Had to bend these to fit on flaps that are down.. Painting white parts... The "What The" moment with the gap in the front canopy, not really any other way the nose fitted so confused as to how this happened, pretty sure they don't fly jets with big gaps in the canopy !! Masking up ready for main paint... Fixing up the gap after priming... Preshading.. Bit of wash in the undercarriage bays.. And now for decals.. Fix up the blue overspray here... Wash for a little more grimy effect.. Armament time... All done !! Hope you enjoyed the build.... RFI is here: Thanks for looking. Cheers JJ

  9. Really nice work so far mate, next level skills !! Really love how the cammo turned out. Cheers JJ
  10. Cheers mate, they definitely are wrecking machines !!
  11. 1:48 A-10A Thunderbolt - Tiger Sharks Gday All !! Here's my latest project, the Tamiya 1:48 scale A-10A based on the USAF 75h "Tiger Sharks" Fighter Squadron that was based at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan in 2005. I added cockpit PE and 75th EFS decals. I also went for the grey camouflage that was the later colour scheme. The kit was fairly simple to put together, however the downside was the lack of weapons decals. With so many weapons, it took some time to do the lines but with that said, it turned out better than having decals !! I also ended up scrounging around for spare decals to add more detail to the weapons. WIP is here: Hope you like it, thanks for looking. Cheers JJ
  12. As you can see, I ordered masking for the wrong Thunderbolt !!! Starting the cockpit... Fuselage - this aircraft is the sole reason for my tail sitting phobia, I remember having one as a kid which was held down with blue-tac !! This kit even came with a clear piece to prop the rear up if no weight was being added to the nose. I wasn't taking any chances so I unloaded a heap of fasteners for the nose weight !! Wings, tail parts and wheel bays.... Weapons pylons and sensors... Turbines Doing all the white.... A little more cockpit detail before its closed up..... Ready for the main body paint.. Primer.... Preshading... Light Grey... Dark Grey... The contrast between the light and dark was a little too much for my liking so I mixed up some thinned light grey to blend the two tones a little more.. Making the landing gear... Decals.. Added a wash for that working look.... And finally the weapons... Ready for paint...... Found some spare decals for more detail on the weapons..... Just realised the red writing decal on the ECM pod is actually a "hot" sign and "hot" is upside down !!! Thats a wrap !! RFI is here: Thanks for checking it out. Cheers JJ
