Thanks mate, and on the flipside, the most ridiculous CIWS Hollywood moment goes to Under Siege !!
-
Hi mate, you can certainly hear this one !! Cheers
-
Thanks mate, I haven't seen one on a tank as such but the kit includes the markings and desert colour scheme for the variant that was mounted to the 8 wheeler Oshkosh....
-
Cheers Bill, there was actually decal themes in the kit for a duck face on the radome, or Chuck Norris on the base cabinet, but the minion would be my favourite to date !!

Thanks Stef Thanks Francis

Hi my Britmodeller mates, its been a while between drinks... This was my first 2024 build but just now getting to the post..... This kit built my skills in PE and also efficient use of CA glue !! When I first joined FFGs as a Sonar Technician, I was billeted to a CIWS spot (long story), but got a chance to do a little work on this system, and took part in a full strip down, ammunitioning and of course live firings, and PAC tests.... Like my FFG build, this really brought back some memories... A few takeaways from the build: It worked out better building and painting unit buy unit, because the entire system is built and maintained that way. The 3A3 base (I think) just did not want to hold the primer and after many rubs, the brass ring and what ever primer was left kind of looked cool so I ran with it though not accurate. The radome door needs special attention when rounding it into shape, I did not take care of it so had to switch to plasticard and lost the rivet detail in the process. the gun is tricky, I ended up compromising the concealed gun detail for the sake of the whole kit. I hope you like it !! WIP is here: Cheers JJ Thanks for checking it out.... Cheers JJ

Hi Ian, great work mate !! I didn't have any issues with my base however I find the good ol' hair dryer helps with heating the plastic enough to work it back straight.... But you need to be careful, there's a very small margin between heating the plastic to soften it enough - to melting it !! Good luck mate !! Cheers JJ -
Hi mate, cheers !! I saw somewhere in the forum (can't recall), there's a French company that sells the hangar kit !! printed hangar, vehicles and PE. Maybe do a search, its there somewhere. Also if you're going all out, I think Eduard do a heap more PE sets too. Hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did !!! Cheers JJ

Gday my BM mates...... Well 2023 what a little more quiet but managed to finish my carrier and also took on a F-14 diorama, which was quite enjoyable. Good news is that I managed to acquire a new cabinet and free up more space for next year's adventures - the 2024 stash is growing with some really interesting stuff including a ship, ammo and another aircraft diorama or two !! Merry Christmas all, I've really enjoyed seeing your builds this year. Cheers JJ 1:48 F-14A Tomcat - Jolly Rogers Carrier Deck Diorama Tamiya 1:350 USS Enterprise Hobby Boss 1:350 AUKUS Submarines

Cheers Bertie.... AUKUS is Australia, United Kingdom and United States - trilateral agreement between the 3 countries for Australia to acquire USN nuclear submarines and build future nuclear submarines (including workforce and infrastructure) and second pillar dealing with manufacturing, autonomous tech and other capability enhancements.

Cheers Steve, yes, same with me, I like the Astute design, the future SSN AUKUS will be likely based of this.
