Is the Tardis a Flying Machine?

Cool! -
Yes, very random! The Mrs had a few choice words lol when that came home! But as a modelling guide it might just be useful to someone. I was thinking about doing a GR4 so I’m interested to see which one is the best starting point. If I could work out how to put pics on here from my iPad I could post one of it.
-
If it helps I have a GR4 top section of the tail fin in my garage if you want any dimensions just let me know what you want.
-
Thanks for that, going to do some tests on plastikard, might try Vallejo surface primer and Al Clad primer see what happens.
-
Decided to have a bash at using the Xtracrylix colours for some British Cold War jets, any thoughts on primers, airbrush application and general accuracy of colours. Read the previous posts with interest on the FGR 2 greys, I like the thought that they all sort of merged under the grime of daily use. Never used these paints before being gloss but wanted to have a go, just curious of people’s experience and advice, thanks.

A work of art, love the exhausts.

I hope it does reduce airflow, at 700 cubic metres per hour I’ll need oxygen never mind a respirator ! Thanks for the words of wisdom.
-
Yes, I’ve seen the cheap booths extracting approx 150 cubic metres per hour, I saw a small centrifugal fan brand new on ebay capable of 700 cubic metres per hour for around £65.
-
Thanks for the advice I think a home made version is in order, damn cheaper too.
-
Apologies if this has been covered previously but I am interested in your opinions on spray booths. I am planning on using lacquers either MRP or Alclad or both, I will be using a mask but I want a spray booth to work indoors, (previously only out doors in the summer!!). I have seen the cheap booths on eBay approx £50 or a little more with led light but are they really up to the job. Others seem to be in the 200 to 300 pound region but do they really provide a massive improvement. It is my health and I want to take care of it but I don’t want to be put off lacquers, any advice welcomed.

Nice, the F2 is often overlooked.

1/72 Russian Navy EF-2000 Typhoon "Red 02“
delticfan replied to Fishbone's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Great model. Any more UK defence cuts and Mr Putin might just walk in and take the typhoons for himself! -
I’ve seen some really good reviews of the Alclad 2 Mil Spec range for airbrushes. Does the range cover the usual 1970s to 80s usual suspects of medium sea grey, light aircraft grey, barley grey etc. and if not will the range be extended to include these.

1/32 Tamiya F-4J Diamond Backs
delticfan replied to chameleon2009's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Mind blowing work! -
It sounds like you had a wonderful day and the diorama looks stunning. Looking forward to seeing it in the squadrons museum when it opens if I’m lucky enough to be able to visit it hopefully. Yes we are very proud of being able to see 617 still operational, many famous squadrons have gone as the airforce has scaled down over the years but they certainly are iconic still in the uk. Well done!

Thanks chaps, I’m looking more towards humbrol, they seem to be more consistent from comments over the internet. I’m surprised the raf Cold War colours are so poorly served in acrylics.
-
Forgive me if the subject has been discussed at length before. What are opinions on the best colour / airbrush friendly representations of barley grey, light aircraft grey, medium sea grey etc. I do like Tamiya but I’m aware the colours don’t match exactly and I want to stay away from enamels.

Lightning F.6 XS903/BA 11 Sqn Pilots Name?
delticfan replied to Blacktjet's topic in Aircraft Cold War
J C Jarron flew the aircraft into Elvington from Binbrook in 1988 not sure which month probably spring time. The aircraft had his name on it when it arrived. Pretty sure it landed with overwing tanks on it too. My father went to see it arrive. -
Airfix 1/72 Phantom FG.1 in Stock at Hornby
delticfan replied to VMA131Marine's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Spent an hour or so last night trial fitting the air intakes, the design is very good and with careful filing and sanding all seemed to fit well. I might need to glue them a bit at a time and certainly the intake covers would be best to be done that way so they line up with the fuselage. Hopefully spray the inside of the halves today and get them glued up. Trying to think of a better build order to suit painting but the instructions are pretty good. I might fit the spine section before the base of the wing so I can glue it from inside. Hoping someone is thinking of etch detail, canopy rails, intake covers, mirrors and any overlays for the undercarriage doors. Maybe resin replacement for the missing vents above the engine tailpipes. -
Ok but it’s hardly a rumour if it appears in the catalogue, sort of fact I would have thought.
-
Funny, I had my original post about this kit which was in the airfix 2018 catalogue removed, is this a top secret kit or something? Wow exciting either way!

Phive! I don’t know these Americans always doing things bigger and better than us Brits...to get five past the Mrs would have been an achievement in itself. If anyone is interested there are a few copies of the Ian Allan aircraft illustrated booklet RAF Phantom by Peter R Foster on eBay. Just thumbing through my copy there are details of all aircraft with histories, dates to paint schemes etc and some good shots of the camouflage to air defence grey transition era. Out of interest what are opinions on the best airbrush acrylics and colours for these beasts. -
Interesting view on the box art with a Victor refuelling two buccaneers, might that be a second surprise yet to come!
