  1. Looks like a two stage release with the last 1982 version to follow similar to what happened with the Victor.
  2. Thought so thanks for the advice, cheap too!
  3. I want to diorama an Fgr2 about to touch down does anyone know who supplies aftermarket landing gear in the extended or unloaded position.
  4. Agreed I think Wessex too, but there will defo be a Cold War aircraft, for me a Jaguar.
  5. RAF Hercules 1982 vintage 1/72 would do for me.
  6. I tried Mr Hobby EDSG on a test card and was amazed how dark it was, it just looked too clinical. I added 17 parts EDSG, 2 parts white and 1 part blue and the difference was huge, the classic what you think RN aircraft should look like that blue hint. The blotchier the better like you say getting battered by sea water doesn’t mix with paint.
  7. Was going to paint mine in Mr Hobby Extra Dark Sea Grey but it is really dark, anyone plan to lighten it up a bit?
  8. Agree about the Phantom comments they are over complicated. My buc is ready for painting by Friday great kit.
  9. Started building it and its a lot easier to put together than the phantom no fiddly joins etc. The panel lines are really good. Great kit can see me making a few.
  10. This is great stuff, I was starting to get a little confused looking at the kit but your details are making things very clear.
  11. Much better build than the Phantom, it’s quite fun. Still not sure what colour the undercarriage and bays is, instruction say humbrol 196 but I’ll rather use mr hobby or Tamiya.
  12. Airfix quote humbrol 196 satin light grey for most undercarriage and bay details, anyone know what Tamiya or Mr Hobby equiv paint is I can’t find it. Was just going to use light aircraft grey if no one knows. Thanks in anticipation, love the kit by the way....
  13. Cracking model of something very different. It’s a perfect example of the engineering phrase if something doesn’t look right it probably isn’t. Mind you neither does the F35!
  14. Like riding a bike, you’ve not forgot anything, well done cool build.
  15. Thanks for the advice on the problems. Painting can be demoralising if it goes wrong, think I’ll go for AK Grey Primer rubbed back with 3200 then Mr Hobby Acrylics 50/ 50 thinned, my only nemesis at the moment is glossing for decals. I have Future which brushes on beautifully but Mirco Sol and definitely Set seems to cause water marks, advice of further coats just don’t seem to work. Fab build tho hope the teacher appreciates the history.
  16. Thanks, for the advice going for the Airfix one, seems to have a bit more soul than the Tamiya (can’t explain that exactly) but the WNW one is being observed closely hopefully around the £400 mark maybe?
  17. I know I’m not comparing apples with apples but which is the “best” kit if scale wasn’t an issue, the Tamiya 1/48 MkIII Lanc or the 1/72 Airfix new tool with Upkeep bomb and trolley.
  18. What kits are available for this helicopter? Sorry to but in....
  19. Thanks Laurie, I suppose what you are saying is that there is no real right answer, that sort of helps. I’ve decided to fade EDSG with white as before then add an even smaller amount of blue than before, that way I’ll know it is there even if it can barely be seen. I suppose the sea environment was brutal for both the aircraft and paint, seeing salt water washing into folded aircraft wings makes me cringe.
  20. Sorry for dragging this thread to the surface again but I’ve just got round to doing my RN FG1. Thought I’ll be clever and spray the tail surfaces Mr Hobby EDSG, oops got a shock how dark it was. It didn’t look like the pics of blue coloured aircraft I had seen then I read this thread, oh dear what a minefield. I tried on a scrap wing the suggested mix in Airfix Magazines review on the kit which was 17 parts EDSG 2 parts white and 1 part blue. I was amazed at how blue it looks for such a little amount added and totally different to neat EDSG. Then I watched the BBC clip on Sailor which has PO Furness marshalling an aircraft and hey what a surprise it looks more grey than blue. Right let’s have another go and I ditched the blue and added 3 parts white. It sort of looks the same colour. Utterly confused here bored the wife to bits so what is it blue or grey urggghhhh need some feedback!!
  21. Love the artwork. I can remember the BBC Sailor programme when that poor RAF pilot was trying to get aboard, its on YouTube if you’re not of an age to remember it...classic stuff.
  22. Has there been any speculation on the price of the Lancaster in the UK.
