Thanks @nimrod54 just take a bit care in nose area - I've filled whole nose with fishing lead balls, and as instrument panel is non-existent, you just have to sand down ejection seat's bottom a bit. Otherwise, pretty easy and clean assembling... I don't know whether Eduard made their decals to fit exactly to the kit, but these Platz decals were tailor-made - one of the best decals fits I've seen so far!

Thanks for the kind words mates, glad you like it.

One of easier builds, though I had been expecting some troubles during tracks assembling - fortunately, all went well... - hooks on hull and turret were made from copper wire - gun barrel is RB model metal one - headlights were made from Kristal Klear - painted with Gunze acrylics - wash done with artistic oils - weathering done with MIG pigments Thanks in advance for comments and/or critiques. Cheers, Srđan

Finish line! They would be finished before old deadline probably, but 2 week GB extension came very well for easy finishing of these two "key rings" VMA-211 Wake Island Avengers VMA-311 Tomcats Family photos Thanks for this STGB - it was joyful ride till the end. Cheers, S.

Looking good so far - PE belts really raised the look of cockpit! Cheers, S. -
Thanx @Ozzy and @PlaStix . I'm glad for kind comments received from you - I really enjoyed this STGB, it really "trained" me to build kits faster than before, and with PE set - few years ago I had much slower tempo, but Britmodeller's GB section kinda gave me a huge amount of mojo All the best, and looking forward to some new themed builds Cheers, S.

Good evening mates, I'll join this STGB with new Tamiya kit. I haven't decided yet whether I will use decals from the kit, or some aftermarket, let the choice fall a bit later... Cheers, S.

Thanks @Derek_B . I think I'll just leave the rivets as they are - I kinda like this vintage kit look, and I have a feeling that I might be tight with finishing schedule, so better not tackling them.

Some small progress - lower part of wings are glued to the fuselage, upper halved are waiting for sanding away of styrene reinforcement. Nose area of fuselage has been sanded, but more work will be done here when cowling gets to its place. Cowling and engine were painted with Stainless Steel and Dark Iron metalizers. Hopefully not too long until primer stage - some sanding work will be needed around joins of fuselage and cowling... Cheers, S.
-
Cockpit and surrounding areas were painted in Gunze H54 as suggested by assembling manual. Engine parts received Stainless Steel metalizer and protective gloss coat... Propeller has been painted in Aluminium metalizer and gloss coated in the end. Cheers, S.

I've been working a bit on X-29 while pausing on other GB projects - so far cockpit and fuselage are assembled, joins are sanded down, and now only some rescribing remains in order to move further. Exhaust is painted in Dark Iron, and received a protective gloss coat... Cheers, S.

Revell 1/72 Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. L - Gunze acrylics - Eduard Photoetched set - Armorscale metal gun barrel - Artistic oils wash - MIG pigments for subtle weathering Cheers, S. -
And here we are... a bit of wash (Windsor & Newton oils) and MIG pigments here and there... and we have finished product Cheers, S.
-
Yeah, decals are really tailor-made - I was pretty surprised how precisely they fit onto their place, although I did have to repaint antiglare area mid part because decal halves didn't touch at the center... Nasty part was on VMA-311 (WL) bird's tail - red stripes were ALL separate decals, so it required a bit of concentration and patience
-
Nearing the end... Decals are positioned and protected with a coat of gloss varnish. I'll wait few days for gloss coat to cure, and then do some subtle wash. Cheers, S.
-
Well, I added some sprue goo on joins of fuselage halves, and some styrene sheets on nose area. I'll leave it for few days to cure, and then sanding, sanding and more sanding... Here is the current state of Boomerang... Cheers, S.

@John Masters sorry for delay, I was quite busy during last week, so didn't have time to photograph kits. I did manage though to assemble cockpit with fuselage halves - it looks a bit rough at the moment, as fuselage halves are a bit different sizes, so upper part requires some putty.

I bought this kit on scale model competition in Mosonmagyarovar some 4-5 years ago, and the main reason for buying was its extremely low price - I gave only 2.5 EUR for it, so I presume this makes it more than eligible for this GB All parts are still in their bag Decals were yellowed from aging, so I decided last summer to put them on the window in order to sunbathing do its magic... and it did... more than I planned! What happened at first scared me, but then I realized that it made me a favour - upper roundels were occasionally hidden by window blinds, while lower ones were more exposed to the sunlight, so they already started loosing red colour - perfect for usage as upper wing surface roundels that were faded in colour under conditions on Pacific! With addition of some weathering it should look OK in the end. All in all, everything is ready for the start of the GB on my side.. waiting for the clock.... Cheers, S.

Cockpit is painted now and ready for assembling, I've planned to make some photos when I finish this step... soon I hope :)

Today I've painted Grey upper surfaces - Gunze FS26440, lightened with few drops of white for middle parts of panels, so preshading is a bit more emphasized now. Next step is gloss coat before decals... Cheers, S.
-
First color (white) is finished, I will spray grey probably during weekend. Cheers, S.
-
Thanks Stix, I'll try to do my best with weathering - I'll follow iModeler link that I posted above - I really like how that one turned out. Anyway, I'll leave gloss coat to cure well, maybe around weekend, or some day after weekend. Cheers, S.

Thanks for the kind words mates. Decals are on... waiting few days for gloss coat to cure, and then wash is on agenda. Cheers, S.
