  1. I've been lost mojo for continuation of works on this one, but the mojo is back so I continued where I've stopped. Decals (Moskva) were applied some time ago, and today I've finally did the chipping, using Ammo Mig Scratch fluid. White used for this occasion was Vallejo Air because it stays "chippable" longer than Gunze acryllics - probably because Vallejo colors are waterbased... Next step is protective gloss coat (in few days), and than some weathering is to be done... Cheers, S.
  2. From white plastic to grey primer... to white color... Cheers, S.
  3. Yeah, I know, me too. It's funny, but during assembling wings and fuselage I had a few moments of not being sure how to attach wings... somehow brain tells you "put them in natural position", but they are supposed to be like this I must admit it was pretty ackward situation, unknown in previous scale modeling life of mine
  4. Nice job Lanmi, pretty clever and logical solution for opening up those frontal and rear areas as well as wheel bays - now the kit look pretty more "serious". Was it a nostalgic feeling having a go again with school saw? Looking forward to future progress, keep the mojo up! Cheers, S.
  5. Oh nice, as we are both doing the same kit, it's nice to see you've chosen other camo scheme, as I've planned to do the one with "eyes" Good job so far Roberto. Cheers, S.
  6. Some more progress today - fuselage halves are glued together, and also cowling halves. Cockpit is assembled also - it will be glued to the fuselage soon, I have to sand away few minor joins on nose and tail area. I've drilled exhaust pipes with modelling knife in order for them to look more realistic... Cheers, S.
  7. Somehow unnoticeable, while working on other projects at the same time, assembling went pretty smoothly, and voila - here it is, ready for the primer! I've glued rudder moved a bit to the left side, because fit wasn't really perfect, but also I've wanted to give that part of fuselage a bit of "motion", when rudder was given as separate part already Tail wheel will probably also be glued a bit to the left, I'll decide on it in the end... Cheers, S.
  8. Sorry for not writing so long - was being busy with Boomerang in Texan STGB @Col. Compressor is up and running well for few weeks already - everything turned out well with repair - Bison Epoxy Metal is really great stuff! In the meantime, I've painted and detailed cockpit, and now it's ready for further assembling, so more photos to arrive soon Cheers, S.
  9. I was busy finishing Boomerang in Texan GB, but assembling of fuselage, wings and other smaller bits on X-29 was also in the process, but I didn't take photos, so here we are after primer - Mr. Surfacer 1200. Cheers, S.
  10. Airfix 1/72 CA-13 Boomerang - Gunze acrylics - Artistic oils wash Cheers, S.
  11. Not being sure we would get an GB extension I pressed on finishing work, so today marks the end of my saga of Boomerang! I did some dot filtering with artistic oils, and subtle wash just on engraved main panels, weathering was done with MIG pigments, while antenna wires are made of fishing nylon wire (0.07mm) Navigation lights were made from Kristal Klear droplets over Chrome Silver dots, and then clear colors over Kristal Klear... I'm pretty sattisfied how this one turned out - I was a bit sceptical because of kit's age (1965 mould), but I'm glad that whole cockpit interior really IS visible, so a bit of attention there paid off Thanks for the great GB, it made me finish this oldy, and give it another life Cheers, S.
  12. Definitely interesting cammo! Not so usual mottles, but very interesting! Good job! Now can't wait to see the decals on... (tomorrow morning? ) Cheers, S.
  13. Neat work, seatbelts look really nice and realistic. Cheers, S.
  14. Good job so far @Ray_W - I really like those subtle color variations, can't wait to see the mottling and spine coloring! Cheers, S.
  15. I've set my Canon camera for a bit more vivid colors, because my other hobby is photography, and I like to have a bit more colorful photos. As I take photos of models with assistance of flash, camera's white balance is set for "final" photos with white background, and due to that these "in progress" photos are a bit more vivid than reality. Earth Brown on Boomerang is a bit duller and lighter in vivo. You'll see more realistic colors on final photos - during next week I hope Thanks for suggestion and regards, S.
  16. Decals are set, and sprayed over with protective gloss coat, although I can see some silvering visible on wings. Unfortunately, this couldn't be better done - decals are definitely 50+ years old, and their adhesive is almost non-existent, so work with them was pretty painful... I gave them heavy treatment with softener and setter and this is best I could achieve. I will try not to overmatt them with final coat of varnish, and hopefully wash will mask silvering a bit before final varnish coat. Probably next photos will be of finished model, so take a bit of patience for them Cheers, S.
  17. Thanks @stevehnz you really made me laugh with that "psychedelic tartan" and actually you're so right with that term.. it really reminded of that Today I've completed camouflage - tail was painted in white color, but with underlayer of Ammo Scratch Fluid. I wanted exactly this effect - to have subtle chips on panel lines and rudder edges, with some more on underneath the tail. Painting was done with Gunze White, so I had to work area by area (one side of tail and then chipping, etc...) because Gunze colors dry really quickly and they become resistant to scratching with this technique (with hairspray it's even more difficult to remove white color). Overall I'm satisfied with the result, I'll leave it now for 2 days to give colors some time to cure before applying gloss coat before decals... Hopefully I might finish this one before deadline... Cheers, S.
  18. As promised yesterday - camouflage is (almost) done! Orange and red preshading really did its magic - on panels are visible different shades underneath camo colors, and whole camo looks unevenly spread and avoids monotony. Also, orange and red areas emphasized colorfulness of brown camo fields. Foliage green is Gunze H302 (FS34092), while Earth Brown is mix of Gunze H72 (Dark Earth) 90% and H47 (Red Brown) 10% What remains to be done is tail area that goes to white color - I will apply Ammo scratch fluid before spraying white color in order to produce some small scratches around rudder and rivets. Plan is to do that step tomorrow Cheers, S.
  19. Thanks @Derek_B, I'm trying to do my best Today I've painted tip of the tail into dark blue (roundel blue approx.), and gave some additional preshading colours on some panels on upper surfaces - this is the first time I'm experimenting with a kind of color modulation as a preshading, so we'll see what effect this will cause after applying of camouflage colors... Also, lower surfaces are painted into light blue - I've mixed 3 shades of blue and some white to lighten it up.... It's probably not totally correct shade of RAAF Sky Blue, but it looks satisfying to my eye - I did my best to match the color as close as possible... Tomorrow I hope I will be able to apply camo colors... Cheers, S.
  20. Thanks mates! Compressor is fixed, and finally some paintjob to do Today I've sprayed a coat of Mr. Surfacer 1200 as a primer, and also did preshading (upper surfaces matt black, lower RLM66) and painted wheel bay in Green Chromate... If I maintain this mojo level, I could maybe even paint whole camouflage during weekend, which leaves me a plenty of time to do the gloss coat, decals, wash and final varnish coat. What bothers me most are antenna wires which are a bit complex on Boomerang... but hey... one step at a time... Cheers, S.
  21. @Wez is there any possibility to get some small GB extension from @Enzo Matrix? Yes, there is almost 3 weeks till the official end of GB, but I have a feeling that I might also miss a deadline for some period of time - this Boomerang of mine will need some attention for curing of painted work, but also for tiny details like antennas wiring and so... If it's possible I'd be very grateful, and hopefully there are some other mates here that would be glad to get some more bonus time to finish their builds. Regards and thanks in advance, Srđan
  22. Weathering turned out fantastic, it looks so real! I must also praise your photos - I like those subtle shadows underneath kit Cheers, S.
  23. Main work of shaping and sanding is done now - all main parts are glued together, just exhaust is to be fitted prior to painting, and clear parts of course. As I wrote in Bf 109 GB topic - my AB compressor is under repair work at the moment, so in few days I will be able to start with primering of this little "piggy" Instrument panel and headrest were also made from styrene sheet and now are fitted on their positions... Having on mind that this kit mould is from the 60's, I'm pretty satisfied with how it went so far, while cockpit scratchbuild turned out much better than I expected in the beginning. Cheers, S.
  24. Last night I've finally started with glueing some parts Believe it or not, this kit is actually my FIRST Tamiya kit ever on the workbench, and not surprisingly I'm fascinated with fitting of parts - it really is "shake'n'bake" kit - every tiny part just "clicks" on its place! Tamiya gave instruments as decals and I will use them after painting of instrument panel. My AB compressor is under little repair work at the moment - air chamber got a small hole due to corrosion probably, so I've "patched" it with Bison Epoxy metal - I expect to start using AB in few days... Seatbelts were also given as decals, but I plan to use Extratech PE generic german belts instead. Regarding to painting scheme, I've decided to do the boxart example - JG51 bird that was stationed in Radomir, Bulgaria. Cheers, S.
  25. Assembling of cockpit parts, fuselage and wings took much less time than I expected - this one goes pretty quickly... I've added some sprue goo on joins to smooth them out. Cheers, S.
