Cockpit is primered, painted, weathered, and next phase is assemblying of fuselage. Instrument panel is combination of PE frontal part and instruments printed on transparent plastic sheet (background layer) Cheers, S.

Small update - build was going very quick, so I didn't make assembly photos before primering. Preshading is next, and camouflage is approaching soon Cheers, S.

I've repainted fairings beetween wings and fuselage, did the wash (artistic oils) and weathering with MIG pigments after final coat of varnish All in all, enjoying build - Tamiya's Bf is a real masterpiece of engineering! On to the photos... Cheers, S.

And... done! A little bit of wash (artistic oils), and weathering (MIG pigments) here and there ... windows on fuselage sides and bottom are made of Humbrol Clearfix. Cheers, S.

Harrier also got its first steps - cockpit has been painted and assembled with fuselage halves, as well as engine intake fan blades... Cheers, S.

Well finally found some time to dedicate to this GB - for few more days I will be busy with "Less than tenner" and "Bf 109" GBs and then fully dedicating to this one! IK-2 was given some initial cockpit work - few peaces of styrene sheet were needed around joins - not surprising for a short run kit... Pilot seat has been upgraded with PE belts. Primering of cockpit will be next step... Cheers, S.

Thanks @Col. but, I did a small mistake, I've noticed this today - fairings beetween fuselage and wings are to be in upper cammo color - RLM74/75, while I followed Tamiya painting manual, and left them in RLM76 So I will repaint those parts in a short notice, just waiting gloss coat to cure a bit.. it will be a bit tricky because of already applied decals and mottles, but hopefully everything turns out OK in the end... Cheers, S.

Decals are positioned and protected with a gloss coat... in 3-4 days I plan to do the dot filtering & wash... next photos are probably final ones Cheers, S.

Thanks @Johnson I'm glad you find it purposeful During the weekend, I've done the camouflage - RLM74/75/76 - lightened a bit with white color for middle parts of panels to give it more weathered and used look... In a couple of days I'll give it a gloss coat as a preparation for decals... Cheers, S.

@reini I vote for Japanese scheme - it's simply unavoidable and fantastic looking! Cheers, Srđan

Second kit I will try to build in this GB is another Revell cute tiny piece of plastic - legendary Harrier in II+ version. I will work US example, as it has a bit more complex and interesting cammo than Spanish one... Cheers, S.

Hello mates, I'll try to work on two kits in this GB - regarding that I won't participate in any new GBs until end of year, I decided to try with two at once, as I couldn't decide which one to build.. so, as @Enzo Matrix would say - "build them both!" First one is Ikarus IK-2 - one of domestic fighters that were on disposal to Royal Yugoslav Air Force at the very beginning of WW2 (so called April War), and the one with very (unnecessary) complicated landing gear assembly! I will build one of NMF machines, not sure yet which one, but there is plenty of time to decide... Cheers, S.

Thanks @PlaStix Decals are positioned on their place, and oversprayed with protective layer of gloss varnish. Decals are so old, and were exposed to sunlight for a long time, so they lost a bit their adhesive abillities - when I wetted them with Gunze Mr. Mark Softer they wriggled as they should, but also didn't stretch nicely on some places, so they look a bit weird there. Roundels are extremely brightened due to loooong exposure to sunlight as their film was very yellow - after Mr. Mark Softer I think remaining red colour a bit more dissolved so they look very "patchy" - a little bit of red, white and yellow underneath... actually very interesting effect that could simulate faded look... Also, I had an little accident on tip of the left wing - during spraying of gloss coat, somehow a drop of gloss varnish spilled out from AB to wing and it is now like a blotch very thick in appearance.. I'll leave it 4-5 days to cure and then see what it looks like... A bit annoying when some of these small errors occur on this very simple but nice kit Cheers, S.

Today I've sprayed white on lower cowling, gun bulges on upper cowling as a "primer" for Yellow RLM 04, and also white surfaces on lower tips of wings and on tail area... Cheers, S.

Off to the gallery... Subtle wash done with artistic oils, navigation lights were first painted with Chrome Silver, then overcoated with Kristal Klear, and in the end painted in Clear Red... Cheers, S.

Thanks @Col. Today I've sprayed primer - Mr. Surfacer 1200 and did the preshading (RLM66 on lower, black on upper surfaces). Cheers, S.

Gustav is now basically ready for primering - only to mask cockpit and landing gear. Landing gear is, like all of this kit, engineered to be assembled like LEGO - everything fits perfectly, BUT, as landing gear legs roots are having strong fit into the wings, and are being masked with bottom fuselage panel, they MUST be fitted before final painting, which I don't prefer, but it is like it is, so there will be a bit more careful masking around this area... In few days I plan start of painting process, beginning with primer and preshading... these days is a real hell on Balkans regarding to temperatures, so it's pretty annoying and tiring to work anything of scalemodelling Spinner is already painted into RLM 70, while I chose to paint that 1/4 of it into white instead of using given decal - on reference photos spinner is seen to have soft edges of white area, which isn't case with decal, so I again used Ammo Scratches Chipping fluid to make a little worn-out look... Cheers, S.

Harvard/Texan, predecessors/derivatives STGB chat
srkirad replied to Wez's topic in Texan / Harvard STGB
Well, thanks @Wez, @John Masters and @RidgeRunner for organizing this GB - it was pretty fun. I had a feeling it would be a bit tight in the end regarding the deadline, but I've managed to finish that oldy in time. Thanks also to all of voters and of course to all of participants - let's move on to some other chapter of GBs - so many beautiful plastic awaits for us to assemble and have fun! :) Cheers and regards, Srđan -
A bit more progress IJA Grey.... Cheers, S.

Decals are on... some of them were breaking in half probably due to the older age, but I've managed to save them.. However, upper wing decals were a bit nasty to position, especially near the rear of fuselage... I've tried to paintbrush correct those lines and this is the best I've managed to do I'll try to mask this not so great look with slightly lighter shade of grey wash... Next set of photos will probably be the one with finished model... Cheers, S.

I've applied primer (Mr. Surfacer 1200) and preshading (RLM66)... Cheers, S.
