  1. And that is just one of the reasons that I'm glad that I didn't get the job at the Athabasca Tar Sands many years ago. If I was going to have to plug my car into a heater when I went to the Mall to stop the oil sump from freezing, then I reckoned that was just a bit too cold for me. OK, back to the JP. That looks really good Lloyd. I think that the chipping effect has turned out well. John.
  2. If you look in FAQ's there is an "idiot's guide" to posting photos using Village Photos. It takes you from start to finish. It may seem a bit complicated, but if you take each step slowly, you should be OK. John.
  3. It doesn't matter whether it's sunlight or artificial light, that looks very good. Nice one. John.
  4. .....and according to one gent on BBC News this morning, the act of shredding half of it has tripled it's value. Now if that doesn't prove that some people have more money than sense, I don't know what does. John (with more sense than money).
  5. The Panzerart wheels for the half track, have slightly different hubs to the ones on the Scout Car. Fortunately, Italeri supply separate hubs which are fairly good. The hubs on the resin wheels will, with a little bit of persuasion, pop out and leave a nice round hole, the same size as the Italeri hubs. As Peter pointed out, the front hubs are slightly different to the rear ones in so far as the front ones protrude out past the wheels, but the rear ones are slightly recessed. The front were no problem, I just super glued a piece of thick card to the back of the wheel, and was then able to glue the hub in place. But the rear ones were more of a problem. The way that I got around this was to cut out the complete wheel centre from the kit's rear wheels and super glue it to the back of the resin wheel with the kit hub in position. Job done. Left to right; Panzerart wheel as supplied, with hub removed, front wheel complete and rear wheel complete. The a/c with it's new boots just push fitted. By some miracle, all four wheels touched the ground. They would be removed again for painting. Next up, the armoured bodywork. John.
  6. Thanks for all of the comments and I agree, Israel's link is a mine of information. John.
  7. You need to try this again as there are no photos and the link is unresponsive.
  8. Once the three rear body parts were fixed in place, I removed the mouldings that run around the perimeter of the inside which I believe was the rail for the machine guns. These would not be needed on this build and would get in the way for the pieces of reinforcing card that would be used to attach the upper structure. Incidentally, I replaced the rear panel with a piece of 1mm card as the kit part is about 1mm short and it was easier to replace it than to fill the gap and remove all of the moulded on detail. I had great difficulty attaching the engine bonnet in place, as the radiator grill got in the way and pushed the whole thing about 3mm too far forward. There was only one thing for it and that was to grind off a load of plastic from the radiator surround until the bonnet sat (almost) in the right place. Once the slats on the front of the radiator would be in place, the damage to the actual radiator wouldn't be seen. As well as the filler on the mudguards, I had to fill two large sink marks, either side of the radiator. The fit of some parts left a little to be desired, and none more so than the two armoured doors and the fold down armoured pieces above them. Part of the problem was the hinges, so I shaved them off and made new ones and filled any slight gaps still visible with some slithers of thin card. While I was in shaving mood, I removed the door handles and made replacement ones from copper wire. That's it for now. If the household authority doesn't com up with too many jobs, I'll get some more done over the weekend. Thanks for looking. John.
  9. I try to avoid large resin conversions for various reasons not least of which is the cost. I'll probably not bother with the Tom Gannon book, not because there's anything wrong with it, but I assume that the photos are going to be duplicated with the ones in the Mouse House book. John.

    The Weather,

I think that we get 24 hours worth of it......every day. Forecast for tomorrow is nigh on rain all day. Yeah, right! I'll believe it when it happens. It'll be fascinating to watch the rain drops bring up little dust clouds as each one comes down on what's left of the grass. John.
  11. Wow! That is a truly amazing collection of photos. Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction. If this one turns out successfully, I might have a go at the Dodge Weapons Carrier a/c next. Thanks again. John.
  12. He, and the gauges have brought the cab to life. John.
  13. Nice work with the chipping and weathering. John.
  14. There's some great work going on here. At least with the change to a 1c, you don't have to worry about the upper and lower hull length or the suspension spacing. John.
  15. Good job on the Panther, and excellent painting and weathering. John.
  16. You've done an excellent job on the only German tank that I like. Nothing wrong with it that I can see. Nice one. John.
  17. You're very welcome. It's now in the lap of the French postal system. John.
  18. ...and believe me, it shows. I'm expecting the Panzerart wheels to turn up any day now, so when I get them, I'll see what needs to be done to the hubs. The width indicators will probably have to be soldered as they seem to have unusual diamond shaped tips, That will be fun! Thanks for the headsup regarding the sand channels. John.
  19. That looks absolutely superb.....as well as bl**dy ugly. PM me Simon as I think I have a spare set of the Tamiya decals for the Centaur. John.
  20. 'Morning Stix, Yes, it does make a change from the usual tank with a 75mm cannon out in front. I'll be winging it for most of the build as all of the upper parts will be scratch built. I'm not even sure of the colour that they were finished in. Need to do some more research. John.
