  1. WOW - that must have taken a huge tin of paint Beautiful job!!! I understand what you mean about weathering - my skills are so basic I dread ruining a great model by making a mess of the finishing touches - yours looks amazing
  2. Absolutely beautiful job I couldn't attain that level of detail on the 1/24 version - never mind 1/72 Deep respect for a very handsome Spit
  3. Nice looking bit of kit. I saw this accumulator trolley a few weeks ago http://www.aim72.co.uk/page132.html available in quite a few scales - nice looking piece too for the late ww2 era boys & girls.
  4. You can't beat a good warbird - my favourites are Vera Lynn & Gracie Fields (I'll get me coat)
  5. I have used the Boxart den scans before, when I was looking for camo A / camo B details for Spitfires & Hurricanes - it is a great website. The fact that the defiant was on there had completely escaped me - some copying / pasting / printing will be required to go in my data files
  6. WOW!!! That sounds like a brilliant book - I do hope you will let everyone on here know when it comes out.
  7. Hmmm - maybe I could just decal it PS & make it look like the code letter has been painted out or something... Just thinking out of the box
  8. I see now - I should have read the post properly DOH - this would explain why the record is a bigger download than the summary
  9. These downloads sound very interesting - what is the difference between a F540 & F541 ?
  10. Looks like a really nice book - I have some credit floating about on amazon - I think this would prove useful for a multitude of projects - thanks for the link
  11. With the arrival of the excellent 1/48 Defiant from Airfix this year I am longing to build one flown by a distant relative. So far I have found some very easy to obtain information, but I am struggling to find the more relevant stuff that would make this build possible. Here is what I have found out so far… Date 08/10/40 - Patrol Type - Defiant I Serial – N1627 Coded – PS-? Unit – 264 SQN RAF Pilot – P/O Harold Ingham Goodall 79159 RAFVR Age 25 (Killed) Air/Gnr – Robert Bett Mirk Young 40197 RNZAF Age 22 (Killed) Took off from Luton Airfield, crashed at Marlow Bucks, exact cause unknown. Reputedly as a result of enemy action. To enable me to build my little tribute I have three questions… Does anyone have the ability to find out what the code letter for this aircraft was? Would the paint scheme have been the traditional dark green / dark earth / sky at this point? Or would it have been painted black by October? Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance
  12. I still think a 1/48 control tower would sell to compliment the 1/48 ground crew & vehicles - but just imagine a 1/24 control tower WOW!!!
  13. This is a lovely idea - however - has anyone ever compared the size of the figures in the 1/48 "ready for battle" kit compared to the hurricane pilot. Either he is rather small (maybe Titch Havercroft - but he flew a spit) or the ground crew are all giants???
  14. I'm loving this build - so much fo a novice to take in & then aspire too - I never thought a quiche tray could look so much like metal plating Watching avidly
  15. Pardon my lack of knowledge here - these look lovely. I have been using Eduard pre painted PE belts... Are these fabric? Are they pre made?
  16. Very nice - I'm watching The Spadgent building one just now - hopefully I will learn a lot and bag one before Airfix sell out - they say it is now discontinued
  17. WOW!!! Now I know why my magnifier / light came with that flip over shade for the lens It looks like a bit actually caught fire - could have been nasty - especially with that tamiya bottle very close to it - lucky escape. Well done on all the work though - looks
  18. Very nice - love the shovel & axe - they look real
