  1. What a great build, and as others have commented, the subtle weathering is just great. Your model can serve as a walkaround, BTW.
  2. Hello everyone. I havent been much active in the forum although I have built between 5 and 10 models since my last RFI. Unfortunately I dont have thaaaat much time in general anymore and my cameras are awful for these kind of things. Hopefully I'll get a really good one someday and get into scale model photography for a while.

Not to mention the laborious photo pasting process...

  3. Great one. Nice alternative on the paint job. Hi, I built that very one and had this issue with the wings. They're supposed to be horizontal.
  4. Hello Matt, Could we add these in the gallery? They are what-ifs. ]
  5. I just happened to see a review of this kit online and it has quite a lot of interior detail.
  6. There is a 1/72 Hasegawa Sea Hawk, gloss white, with identical markings at my local hobby shop. Let me know if youre interested. I think it costs 1200 or 1300 Yen (theyre sold to me at the price printed on the box) and I can find out how much the post is to the UK through the public service. Well yes. I unintentionally painted two jets in Imperial Navy green,. Im not 100% convinced just bcz Im familiar with the color but Im going till the end with it hoping theyll look fine. And one will look better than the other. In all, green has so many tones it is hard to get just the right one. And thank you!
  7. Hello everyone. I really wanted to make a WIP of this build but because 1) time constraints, 2) not having my own nor the borrowed laptop handy, and 3) a temporary problem with the image hosting website I use (postimage.org) I decided to go forego the WIP posts. Anyway, I posted the pictures of the assembly on my Facebook page -is it allowed to say FB here??? I wonder...-. It was an extremely satisfactory build And I must insist that lacquer paints are the best! The model was entirely hand painted and no masking was used on the windshields. I made a great effort in painting the interior really well, (and the interior took me days) just to realize that you won't be able to see it ever again. There were very few mistakes. The most notable one was the grey line on the door side. It is higher at the back than at the front, something you'd notice if the door were closed. That's why I had to leave the door open. And the floor visible through the open door has two color tones because the paint I used was a lacquer that I recovered from a solid dry state and it had changed tone by the time I used it at the "doorstep" after a little putty filling I had to do there. The kit itself was strangely missing the interior ceiling by design but well. Other than that, a spectacular model indeed. Oh, and I didn't paint the rotor blades exactly how they should be. Too much, too much.
  8. It's looking very good. Looking at it makes me want to build a 1/48 one. As you know, you hot my vote already.
  9. Being free like that was too good to be true. Hopefully theyll change their business model and start charging something reasonable.
  10. Seems like the service I use is in trouble. Postimage.org that is.
  11. Thanks! And for what I read, you wouldnt see.this version in real life a lot either. The instruction booklet says only 23 TA-4Fs were converted to this standard.
  12. Thanks! And oh yes, they're cheap. Some are even less than 10$, while most wont go over or around 20$. How much do they cost where you live? Initially I thought they only came blue-grey, but I got my knowledge from a flight.simulator. Painting it the other way is still admireable though. Too difficult for me! Thanks. I decided not to buy Italeri ever again after six kits of theirs beeing all but one, disasterous. In the meantime, Hasegawas fit flawlessly. And many thanks for your comments and likes! Next model shall be a Fujimi Sea King.
  13. Thank you! Well yes, the decals were very brittle. Im gonna give it a try and report back to you. I hope I get sunshine tomorrow morning like I did today.
  14. Hi Mark, I didn't know that the Hood existed before WWII. Luckily for your grandad he didn't serve on the Hood during the war. I'll do justice to those little ships' colors one day. But they're not so little though when you realize that in scale, they should weigh around 20 tons!!! As per requested: And to better compare: And let me take this opportunity to show off some of my earlier models, jejeje...
  15. Hello everyone, this is the third of the three models I did since my last WIP. Actually, I had started this one long ago but because I was brush painting it with gloss acrylic white, it was taking ages to get the coats to cover the model properly. And having had great success with lacquer paints, I decided to remove the paint from it and re-paint with gloss lacquer. The drying time is amazing. Despite being gloss and giving it at times thick layers, I could rub it with a 600 grit in less than an hour. Later, though, I realized it needed more and more thinner and retarder for it to level better but there was only so much I could get into the little container. In the end, this little jet was subject to a lot of trial and error along the way and I had to eventually settle myself with a sub-standard paint job. The decals, being 30 years old were yellow so I'll leave this one model in a dark corner somewhere. I'm personally not thaaat satisfied with it and I don't really know why I'm uploading the RFI either...
  16. Hello everyone, this is another model I did since my last WIP. I used pretty much the same paints as in the Kfir but I didn't follow the paint scheme exactly. I simplified it for the sake of enjoyability. Once again, I used Mr Color lacquer paint which are the best for brush painting in all aspects. It's like rediscovering the hobby, really. I did use, though, enamels for the cockpit, the landing gears and the small stuff in general because it has its advantages. This is actually the second time I make a SkyHawk, the first time being when I was a kid. Interestingly, it was the jet I played with the most. I practiced a lot of take offs and landings with it. I decided just before applying the decals to have the air-brakes closed which meant snapping them of and giving it a go with the putty, which I'm not very good at. For what I've seen so far, Fujimi offers a lot of details and parts but the precision is lacking in comparison to Hasegawa. I hope you like!
  17. Hello everyone. This is one of the three models I've done since my last WIP. I really like this jet because it shows how Israel was so willing to have jets that they made them themselves. The body was painted with Mr Color Lacquer paints well diluted and mixed with retarder. The camouflage was painted with the assistance of liquid latex. I only had a few mistakes, most noticeably the left number decal on the fin and a few few bubbles on the bottom. The front antennae broke in two parts when the model slid off my hand while holding it too gently w/o gloves. I hope you like!
  18. Still a lot to go it seems. Cant wait to see it finished, though.
  19. Trade secret. I asked about a coke bottle looking thing and Im still in suspense.
