  1. I read that US stopped production of Longbow Hellfire missiles in 2005. Could somebody confirm? If yes could anybody gave the reason? And for what purposes they use radars on AH-64's although they didn't use radar guided missiles?
  2. I am very happy when i am reading good opinions. Even if model isn't outstanding it's a reward for my hard work and encouragement for next projects.
  3. Look what is happening now-US are considering return to concept of fast chopper (or you can call it in another way) with very long wings (S-67) and VTDP (AH-56, X-49)...
  4. I agree because i heard that sometimes the best way for such problems is ca glue. There are many people who using only such glue to filling gaps or other problems :-)
  5. Hi, This is my 3rd model after return to hobby. IMHO the best one from all of them (i think it was time to do it right) Biggest minor is that i had unforunately once again put some paint on canopy despite using maskol and Tamiya masking tape My masking was very carefull and paint marks are in the middle of glass so maybe my maskol get into reaction with paint? I don't know, maybe someone will be so keen to write little tutorial how to good mask such clear parts in attack helos? Another mistake is vivible connecting line of 2 hull halves which i wasn't able to delete using various sand papers. During building i also cover my preshading to much and i was forced to do postshading (base color with couple drops with of Humbrol sand). Anothe chemicals which i used were: Model Master Enamel Helo Drab-base colour Mr. Surfacer 1200-primer Some Humbrol enamels for cockpit and missiles Humbrol gloss and matt varnish Gunze decals fluids BTW I paintned Hellfires missiles in Olive Drab because dacals for them were black... Any comments ale welcome
  6. Hi, Couple years ago there was very loud about new system for AH-64 Apache defence, Ground Fire Acquisition System. But still there's not much photos of choppers with GFAS installed and informations about it. Anyone knows or heard something ?
  7. To be honest My intention was strong wash, but I used too much paint mixed with water and some effects looks not exactly as i wanted. One of biggest minors IMHO too strong wash
  8. Hello My second model after i decided to back to modelling 1:72 Italeri AH-64A Apache-good set but not outstanding. It's cheap so perfect as "training ground" I painted it Gunze H52 and some Humbrols. I also used Surfacers as a first coat. It was finished with gloss floor fluid and matt Humbrol cote. Wash made by black and brown acryl artist paints. My tasks for this set was: to paint cockpit interior-looks good especially is such scale Cut canopy doors to make it open in model- half succes, i avoid to destroy the canopy but i've made some scratches on clear parts Remove all mistakes and scratches on helicopter hull using Surfacers-half succes Keep model clean from CA glue-95% succes even i glued wings and engines after i painted it with base colour Paint some places instead of using decals-95 % succes – some masking tape didn't protect surfaces as i want but rest was very good Melt and dut decals in realistic way-in my opinion 95% succes Please watch my gallery, comments are welcome. Next target 1:72 Italeri RAH-66 Comanche [/quote]
  9. Thanks for all good words-my next training target 1:72 Italeri AH-64A
  10. This is not the wanted section. In addition you need 100 posts to use the wanted section.
  11. Hello, 2 short questions about SugarScoop (ASPI) upgrade in AH-64D/E chopper engines exhausts: 1. Is it a modification of good old Black Hole or completely new system? 2. Did US want to install those upgrades in all AH-64, because we still can see Apache's without ASPI. Thanks for help.
  12. Hi, my name is Patryk, I am modeller from Poland and now presenting my first model after 3 year non modelling period. It's AH-1G in 3 colour camouflage (which was used mostly in later AH-1 versions, but in Vietnam US Army had also couple Cobras called "Calico" Cobra and they were painted in 3 colours). I aibrushed this set by Humbrol enamels, put on it gloss and matt cote from humbrol and for decals i used 2 gunze decal fluids. For kit decals it wasn't so succesful as for the "United States Army" sign, which was taken from Hobbyboss set. At the end i used vallejo Sienna natural pigment. Tasks which i wanted to accomplish were: a ) airbrush triplecolour camouflage , unfortunately i am not to happy with this (Humbrol 105 which was suggested by many people as dedicated as marines green, is too bright, passes between different colours don't look as i want :(/> Next time i will use pattafix and masking tape. b ) good tape masking, sometimes paint got under tape, and i think i put in some places to many layers of paint, so i got "steps" after taking the tape off, c ) cut canopy to made model with open doors, i got some break ups beacause i used scalpel, when i changed it to razor blade i could cut with out breaks on clean parts d ) made this this clean as i can-you can see what i got, too much paint and pigment My succes it definately painting gun and grenade launcher by myself Now I am going to nuclear bunker and waiting for critic.
  13. Hi. 2 more questions, this time strictly about AH-64A Apache version: 1. Which model is more real Task Force Normandy configuration?? http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/i...rt-storm-1991/ or this one http://zone-five.net/showthread.php?t=13537 ?? 2. Why some of AH-64A's have on the top left and right avionics sponson black square flat element's (i suppose that they are anti slip carpets just like those on wings). Is it a early/late modification for whole fleet or only some of AH-64A'a had them. Example without them: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...u_Feb_2005.jpg This'one definately has it: http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/...a_15_of_52.jpg For 100% understanding which element's i mean see 3 links to models which authors also made them: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.co...-Moore/00.shtm http://modelingmadness.com/review/mod/jacksonah64.htm https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...aper_model.JPG Thank for help
