  1. I know how you feel, it's hard to get motivated sometimes.
  2. Thanks for the kind words, I have plenty more bike kits to practice on.👍
  3. Thanks Ian, I am currently restoring a 1986 GPZ1000RX, a 60th Birthday present to myself.
  4. Thanks, I used Mr Color super metallic super iron 2 and Zero paints Titanium silver. Also used 2k clear over the front cam belt cover, this turns the kit chrome plating to more of a polished aluminium look. The engine and carb intake tubes were 2k cleared then after about a week I hand painted the intake carbs tubes with Molotow liquid chrome.
  5. Manufacturer: Nagano Aftermarket: None used Paints: Mr Hobby 1500 black primer, AK Gloss Varnish, Mr Color super metallic 2 super iron 2, Zero paints Titanium silver, Tamiya clears, 2K clear coat, Molotow liquid chrome Weathering: Mig Ammo 1203 Streaking Grime wash Link to build: Hi all, here is the finished Honda Goldwing 70's bike build. I had painted a Honda CB750KO full size bike for a client last year and I had enough paint left over to easily paint the model as it was the same colour used. I did a bit of scratch building to fill in some details that were missing from the kit, mainly the carburettor linkages and coolant expansion tank drain pipes. I used fibre optic strand to make the clear plastic tubing. Also I added the manual choke cable knob that's fixed to the handle bar bracket, and added the black plate that sits between the back of the radiator and carburettors. Lots of hand painting was applied to the switch gear to give the impression of lettering, I think at this scale those details are required. It's a long out of production kit that was showing its age, lots of flash in places and some crude engineering on some parts, but on others they looked very good indeed. Finally, I added some photos of my real bike as comparison. Real bike comparison photos:
  6. Sorry to hear that the decals are giving you problems. If the they are sliding off the backing sheet but breaking up, I would suggest spraying them over with a clear coat such as Hataka lacquer, or Tamiya clear. Just a few light misty coats, let it dry overnight, that might hold the decal together when you try to use them. My Z1R Kawasaki kit decals gave me issues with not wanting to release from the backing sheet. I soaked them in warm water for up to 30 minutes, but if after that time they are not floating off the backing sheet then there is nothing much you can do apart from try scraping a sharp knife blade at the edge of the decal to try and break the decal away from the backing sheet. You could try scanning the sheet and printing off a copy onto decal paper, best of luck and I hope that helps.
  7. Hi all, well I finally found some free time to post an update on this 70's bike build. I usually prefer to get the fuel tank and side panels painted early on in the build, as it's what is most noticeable about a bike model and can be tricky to get looking right. However, this kit wants you to fit the dummy tank top flap almost at the start of the construction, there's a "T" bracket that pivots on cut out sections in the frame. I decided to insert the engine and rear wheel assembly but leave the headstock part of the frame free from glue. This allowed me to get all the paintwork finished on the dummy fuel tank and to fit the top cover allowing me to then glue that frame area. Then I was able to fit the exhaust system and the front wheel assembly. The kit supplied rear brake light housing was a US version that looks much larger than the early production UK tail light. I had an old disassembled Airfix CB750 kit that had the early tail light lens, so I substituted that for the kit version. Next will be to fit the lower chrome front mudguard stay, the chrome clock covers, the handle bars and switch gear.
  8. I bought 2 of these kits, plan on building one in flight and the other in a diorama setting. The Naboo Starfighter is a cool looking ship, it would look great in 1/72 scale. I can't imagine Mando without the RC, this new Hot Rod is just a new toy to help out Boba Fett. I am pretty sure a Star Wars version of a barn find will turn up a another RC.
  9. Thanks, I sprayed Zero paints matt clear over the yellow, then gave the body a brush over with a 50/50 mix of Flory Dark dirt and Grime clay wash. Then rubbed it off with damp cotton buds to give most of the effects. Pretty easy really.
  10. Transformer movies are really not my thing, but it was a fun movie with good humour and sound track.
  11. Hi everyone, this boxing dates back to 1980; however the car is a 79 vintage I believe. Monogram put some great details into this kit, I will be painting the bodywork gloss black, but the interior will be a two-tone grey colour, should be a blast to build.
  12. Hi all, I am calling this done, it was a fun subject to start the New Year. I scratch built the part that dropped off the car when Charlie drove it back home. Thanks for looking in on this build guys. Finally, if you want to see the work in progress of this build, click the link below.
  13. Hi all, I have started test fitting some of the major parts together. The engine cases will be painted in flat aluminium with polished rocker covers and timing belt covers. The frame will have to be painted in two halves with the fuel tank glued to the left frame, this will allow me to fit the engine, and the top dummy fuel tank cover will have to be fitted before the headstock is glued together. Also, the oil filter and water pump housing under the radiator is to be fitted once the engine is in the frame. So not a straight forward build, going to need lots of planning to get this bike together, but all good fun. Finally, the last picture is part of my restoration photos from my real bike I restored in 2018 to show a comparison of the parts in the kit.
  14. Hi all, well I have just about completed the build of the car, next is to place it on the beach scene base and finish painting the figure, I hope you enjoy the pics of a grubby Bumblebee.
  15. Future classic the brick RS in my opinion, shame that so many get Cafe Racer chopped around, don't get me wrong, I like some of them if they are done well but most look awful. Must be an age thing! Lol.
  16. Sadly it's very true that kits of 70's bikes seem to be very pricey these days. I have had this kit for about 5 or 6 years.
  17. Cheers Andy, I still have more weathering to add to what I have already done.
  18. Hi fellow model fanatics, this is just a fun quick build to start the New Year. I used the engine from this kit last year to put into my Mad Max 2 Gyrocopter diorama. So, this is my way of using up the remaining kit parts. I found the figure on eBay; it needed the girl's hair lengthening to look more like the movie actress. She will be sitting on the Beetle, in a beach scene.
  19. The original GL1000 Goldwing was the world's biggest and heaviest bike when it was introduced in 1975. Most notable for its unique water-cooled flat-four engine, the GL also featured shaft drive, twin front disc brakes and an under-seat fuel tank. The Wing produced 80bhp, had a top speed of 120 mph (193 kph), and accelerated hard despite 571lb (260kg) weight. Its smoothness and comfort rapidly won a large following, especially among the middle-aged Americans. Along with the kit photos that have not been started yet, I have included pictures of one of my own 1975 bikes that I restored in 2018.
  20. Sadly I have never had the time to display my work at a show, I did not attend Telford this year, so no it was not my model, but thanks for all the nice comments.
  21. Hi everyone, here are all of my completed builds from 2021. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and lets have a safe and prosperous New Year.
