  1. Now that would be a challenge. We will see how I get on with it, but by looking at the instructions, it's gonna take a lot of carbon work. As the kits for my sons birthday, I'll open the sprue bags up then, but looking at the chrome parts, they have got to be the best I've seen in a kit as they have been given a dull darken chrome finish. Only the door mirrors which are on a separate sprue have that horrible fake chrome finish. Also going by the instructions the car goes together very much like the Tamiya LaFerrari.
  2. I've got a couple of builds to do before this one, but looking at the kit, really impressed with it. It comes with two sets of body panels, one clear and one white. I'm a bit sadistic and really like doing stuff with the carbon decals
  3. I've been looking forward to this kit coming out for a while now. It's for my son's birthday in a couple of weeks. Thanks to Steve at Hiroboy it arrived today, the new Aoshima Pagani Huayra. Really gonna enjoy doing the carbon fibre on this one.
  4. Hi there, I'm also looking for a new spray booth, and I've been looking at the Graphicair A300S can you tell me the dimensions of the unit without the hood fitted. I'm short for space at my work area, so I'm looking to find out the depth of it, and how far it will sit out from the wall without the hood fitted. cheers
  5. Cheers again folks your comments are very much appreciated. Anthony I've just checked the pics I took of an A350 and your right, they should be round the other way. Typically with Revell though they have it wrong in the instructions. I do know better than to trust them. Its an easy fix as they are just PVA'd in.
  6. I've already notice some defects with it, the fitment of the wings to the body will need some attention. I agree the decals do look good
  7. Jessica that is great information, as to why the kit is like this, and what numbers I should be using, many thanks.
  8. Cheers mate, I wished it would say that in the instructions, it doesn't even give you the option to leave it or not. Aw well done now.
  9. This shows the rather cack handed way I put in the Milliput, like I said we live and learn. I probably doubled the kit weight lol. The nose weight added. I use this great stuff which is designed for model railways. It's basically tiny ball bearings coated in something that reacts and turns solid in contact with CA glue I use this stuff for it. I then attached both sides of the fuselages which weren't a perfect fit, so I coated the seam in my TET plasticard mixture It was then onto the wings, I managed to get a wee bit done before I headed out for a Christmas Eve dinner at the local hotel. This shows the first part of surgery that is required on the upper part of the wings This pic shows before and after, this surgery was quite easy Right that's it for the moment, as Santa is just about here and I definately need my beauty sleep lol
  10. This is the next kit I'll be building its Revell's Tupolev Tu-144D, the worlds first Super Sonic Transport Aircraft. I've had this kit for a while now, I did open it up and look at it a while back but decided I would wait a while until my skill set improved. I don't think by the looks of it it's Revell's greatest kit, but we will see how I get on with it. Anyway here's the box. All the instructions which are a bit vague in certain places by the looks of it. Also there looks to be several places where I need to cut various parts off. Why this is needed beats me. All the sprues come in one rather nasty crinkly plastic bag And the sprues like I said I opened it up a while ago and filled all the windows with Milliput. Looking back down I wish I hadn't done that, but hey ho, we live and learn. And the decals, which look a reasonable quality Anyway that's it for the moment, and thanks for looking.
  11. Cheers guys your comments are very much appreciated and I'm glad I've got my mojo back for them, hopefully I don't loose it with my next build. I know it looks like I painted the bottom half grey, but other than the blueish strip all the plane is white, there's no grey on the underside.
  12. Cheers guys, again the comments are very much appreciated. Ian the spirals were part of the kit. They are such a pain to conform to the shape of the cone, so what I did with this one, was to get a brand new scalpel blade, and careful under a magnifiying glass cut round and into the swirl, so when I laid it on it conformed to the shape almost straight away. If you blow into the engines the blades turn, which I think is quite cool. For the metallics I used Vallejo Metal Color paints, which I thin to about a 70-30 mix with Tamiya X20A. The colour on the blades if I remember rightly was their Magnesium, and the colour on the leading edge of the engines and wings is their Duraluminium colour. I used to spray the Vallejo Metal Colours neet, however I was having real problems with them, I then thinned them to the 70% Paint to 30% Thinners and AB at a low air pressure and since then I've had no problems. Just remember thin coats, don't flood the area. I then coated the full plane with the new USA Johnston's/Pledge formula. Also the white on the plane is Tamiya's X2 Gloss white, and thinned with Mr Color Self Leveling Thinners, which even without the Kleer coat gave a brilliant shine. One more thing after the last coat of the new Kleer, I dripped small amounts of Microscale's Kristal Clear in the window frames, if you look closely you can just about see the reflections. I've got several more in the pipeline. Ive got the Revell Tupolev (Russian Concorde, I forget the model), Revell Airbus A320 Etihad, Revell Embraer, and a Boeing 737-800 with the sweetie bear on it. I normally have two builds on the go at any one time, so I'm going to build a car or bike, and an aircraft at the same time. Anyway again thanks for the comments guys Cheers
  13. Cheers guys that's it finished now. Really enjoyed this one
  14. Hi folks I have built quite a few 1/144 airliners over the years with varying degrees of success, but I severely lost my mojo for building them. I've had this kit in the stash for well over a year now, so I thought why not get back into building them and here's the result.
  15. Cheers mate. The 1k lacquer from Zero Paints is really easy to apply. The only thing I've found when polishing it, if it gets too warm through rubbing on it, it actually gets soft again. But other than that I love it, however I see they've just brought out the Diamond Finish 2k clear so I might give that a try.
  16. Cheers mate, I'm with you, I do prefer Lambo's. If you want have a look at my recent Aventador Roadster I built. My son is getting a Huracan kit for part of his Christmas. This one will most likely be done is a digital camo.
  17. Hi folks that's the 1st of 3 Ferrari LaFerrari's I've to build finished. This is my 3rd car I've built and it's for a friends son. I read in various forums that this was a bad and ill fitting kit. To be honest I actually thought it was a joy to build and far easier and better quality than my two previous car builds (Revell & Aoshima). So on with the details. Kit - Tamiya 1/24 Ferrari LaFerrari Upgrades - Tamiya Carbon Decal kit and Tamiya PE Kit. Generic Seatbelts from my spares box. Paint Exterior - Zero Paints Rosso Corsa 300 Red Paint Interior - Various Tamiya and Vallejo colours Anyway that's all the details, I hope you like the photos and thanks very much for looking And all set to go to its new home That's it folks sorry for being a bit pic heavy. Again thanks for looking.
  18. I've not used their 2k yet, but I plan to in the near future with their Diamond finish stuff. One thing I do notice is that when polishing if you heat up the surface it's got a tendency to go soft and you can actually smell it. Other than that I love the 1k stuff.
  19. Well I'm calling this one done. I've taken all the photos with the cars doors and rear shell closed, I've still to take the photos with the doors and rear clam shell up. Anyway here's a photo of the finished car. I'm really pleased that the rear clam shell closes without any issues. I'll post the others up tomorrow.
  20. It's almost there now, not much to do now. Hopefully I'll get back into it tomorrow and get it finished.
  21. Hi folks, recently I've been loosing my mojo with this car, not really the cars fault, but a lot going on in my life at the moment. I've recently been for a couple of medicals at work about my knee, and I'm now being medically retired from my job. It's a good thing, but bad in the same way so it's taking a bit of time to get my head around that. Anyway enough of that, so I brought the car to do a few bits and pieces. Now I was originally going to colour sand it, but the car has quite a few hard to reach places and the paintwork is not to bad anyway. So out came the compound polish from Tamiya instead. This is the front end polished along with the drivers door. This shows the difference between panels. The rear clam shell has had the first coat of compound polish on it Then onto the rear valance, I've still to put the lights and a couple other bits and bobs onto it. I used the grills from Tamiya's own PE kit. This is the offside rear corner all polished up. The rear valance was then added to the car. That's it for the moment and thanks again for the comments and taking time out to have a look. Cheers
  22. Again cheers guys. Well that's the decaling started. The decals are laser printed, which are a bit thin for my liking, but other than that they are going down fine. I've finished all the fuselage decals but obviously I'm keeping the full thing under wraps for the moment, so here's a wee sneaky peak at a peek at it. Still a few other bits and pieces to do to it, but I hope you like the progress so far.
  23. Hi folks, now on with the stripe that runs the length of the plane. I thought this would be relatively easy to mark out, but it was a complete pain. First off I tried to use normal Tamiya masking tape, which gave a nice straight line, but when it came to creating the curve round the nose it just wouldn't conform to the curve. I then bought some Tamiya Curvy tape, which although created a nice curve round the nose, it was a complete pain to get a straight line with. Anyway I eventually managed it and laid down the top masking line. I then cut small masking strips to act as a guide. This worked fine and the bottom line was quite easy to mask up using Tamiya Curvy Tape. I then masked it up and painted it in the blue I mentioned earlier. Although not 100% perfect I think it will do for now. Anyway that's it for the moment, I hope you like the progress so far and thanks for looking.
