  3. I sincerely hope that the wheel wells are better than this 3D image... They seem very basic, with out-of-scale wing ribs. Arma's P-51B looks much better in this sense

  5. Still the best way to have a good Mk XIV is hybridizing Eduard and Airfix; the Sword engine cowling is mis-shapen
  6. Coming back to the Lightning drawings topic, this morning I took a couple of (bad quality) pictures showing Airfix fuselage against Hargrave (Echelon) and Caruana (SAM modellers datafile) plans. Both are aligned to the intake ring line Hargrave: Airfix fuselage is nice although it is 1-2mm short Caruana: Airfix fuselage is generally not tall enough (about 1mm) and it is too long by at least 1-2mm Sincerely, Hargrave seems much more accurate if only for the fact that the length coincides with a scaled 55'3" figure that I can find in many references (Caruana's being short).

  8. Hello, and thanks for the answers! my intention is building a 1/72 Sword F.1A with some Airfix parts. The two are identical in shape/size of the fuselage (Sword obviously simply "filled the gap" left by Airfix not producing F.1 and F.3 variants and reproduced the same general shape). When I compare the fuselage with the SAM modellers datafile plans the length is more or less correct while the fuselage is not tall enough, in particular in the nose section. It seems to me that Airfix is more accurate than the plans, and here comes my doubt about them. @gingerbob : thank you for the link! @Giorgio N@tempestfan : if you have available a copy of the Echelon or DaCo plans I'd be very happy to try them!
  9. Hello, does anybody have factory drawings for the fuselage of the English Electric Lightning? Comparing Airfix fuselage to SAM drawings is no joy at all! Thank you for any help!

  11. The current 1/72 Eduard Fw190s have several shape issues and really deserve a re-make. Otherwise, the 1/48th new moulds are very well done , and they should be down-scaled to get the ultimate 1/72 Fw190A

  13. This is the best I ever found: the D/F nose contour seems reasonably accurate!
  14. Hello Memphis, the nose contour seems to be the part that most drawings are missing. I do not remember the FAOTW drawings though
  15. About drawings: I'm not aware of factory drawings available for the Thud. Possibly the most accurate are the D&S set, but still the lines look suspect in some area. Consequence is: there is no "ultimate" F-105 model out there... I hope that Airfix will scan one and produce it!

  17. Hello Dov, what specific P-47 version are you planning? That would help a lot understanding the features of the installed R-2800. In the above photographs you are comparing an early R2800 with a C-series and the two are quite different beasts
  18. I really like the 109Gs! P-51B is good news (old Tamiya has many inaccuracies), in 3D renders it seems pretty accurate (except the propeller!!!😄)
