Rusty 1978 Dodge D100 pickup truck
albymoore replied to albymoore's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
Thank you all for your compliments on my pickem' up truck model. Here are some photos of the interior, engine, chassis, and miscellaneous stuff. Cheers, Albert -
Hi All, This is my take on the MPC 1/25 1978 Dodge D100 pickup truck. It was built to represent an old rusty, beat up truck you'd see here in Northern Michigan, complete with a load of firewood (winters are long here in the northern hemisphere). The model was basically built out of box primarily as a study in weathering. The only deviation from the kit was the addition of the balsa front bumper with photoetch washers and bolt heads, and radio antenna. The finish was achieved using a combination of the salt method, chipping fluids, and the sponge technique for rust and chipping effects. The main colors for the cab and bed are cheap Hobby Lobby craft paints that were heavily thinned and applied with an airbrush (also wanted that 70's vibe in regards to the color). The rest of the weathering is washes, filters, and pigments. The firewood load is various sections of Woodland Scenics 'Dead Tree Fall' logs, cut to the appropriate size. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Albert

Down and out in Mos Eisley - R3-B0 Astromech

Andy, I love everything about this build, the panting and weathering are some of the best I've seen anywhere. This is the kind of work that inspires and makes me want to be a better modeler. Cheers, Albert -

I can hear CCR's "Fortunate Son" playing in the background. Nice looking build. Cheers, Albert -
Heller 1/72 Bachem Ba 349 and Fielseler Fi-103R
albymoore replied to albymoore's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thank you for the compliments. The Germans experimented with the manned V1s for suicide missions, in fact a unit had been formed and volunteers trained,.but German air ministry thought it was a waste of lives and resources so the idea was dropped before a mission could be carried out. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fieseler_Fi_103R_Reichenberg -
Hi All These two models were built from the Heller double kit which was released in the late 70's. The Fieseler Fi-103R manned V-1 was built out of box. The Bachem Ba-349 Natter was a bit more involved. The four RATO outlets were drilled out, and two sections of aluminum tubing were added to the rear of the fuselage to depict the exhaust nozzle for the main engine. Vallejo Model Air acrylics were used for the finish. Cheers, Albert

Airfix 1/72 AV-8A Harrier USMC
albymoore replied to albymoore's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thanks for the kudos on my Harrier, they are greatly appreciated! -
Hi All, This is another one of my recent completion, an Airfix AV-8A Harrier in lo-viz markings for VMAT-203. The finish is a combination of Humbrol and Model Master enamels, and the decals are from Caracal. Extras include a brass pitot tube and rocket pods from a Hasegawa weapons set. Thanks for looking! Cheers, Albert

Thank you all for the kind comments. This was such an enjoyable kit to build. I wish I would have stocked up on it, along with the Ju-87 B2 kit, they're both hard to find these days! Cheers, Albert -

Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer

Thank you, Hunter! -
Here is my recently completed Revell 1/70 TIE Silencer snap & play kit. It was repainted with Vallejo Panzer Grey, and weathered a bit as well. In addition to a repaint, the clear parts were tinted with Tamiya Clear Red, the wing-tip cannon barrels and missile launchers were drilled out, and the oversized ventral entry hatch hinge removed and fairing at the front filled in. Thanks for looking!

What a gorgeous model. The paint work is especially stellar. Cheers, Albert -
Hi All, Here is the latest to join my fleet of small scale F-16s, a Hasegawa F-16 in US Navy colors and markings. This has been on my list 'to build' for about 20 years and it started with seeing a photo on page 41 of the Squadron/Signal book 'F-16 Viper' by Lou Drendel. There is something about those subdued colors and markings that look terrific on the F-16 (ditto on the Hellenic Air Force F-16 as well). I added a different ejection seat and throttle from a Revell F-16, and the ACMI pod and captive Sidewinder are from a Hasegawa weapons set. The canopy tint was done with Tamiya Smoke, applied in a layers for the desired depth. The paint is all Model Master enamels. The camouflage was achieved using rolled poster tack for feathered edges (tried it freehand, didn't look in scale with the model). The decals are from the kit and well, let's just say they suck. Unfortunately, they are the only game in town for 1/72 F-16N decals available unless you can find the old Superscale sheet or get the decals from Fujimi's F-16N kit. Final overcoat is a satin/matte mixture from Vallejo and AK Interactive. Thanks for looking! Cheers, Albert

My favorite kind of models. Unusual subjects in different colors and markings. Well done! Cheers, Albert

There is a 97.6% chance that this is the best model of K-2SO I have seen yet. Alright, 100% chance. This is some absolutely stellar work, Andy. Cheers, Albert -
Rebel U-wing transport/gunship
albymoore replied to albymoore's topic in Ready for Inspection - SF & RealSpace
Thanks, Ray! Yes, the wings do swing. Mine are glued in the forward position though as they rattle a bit due to their length and rather tight fit around the mounts at the rear of the fuselage (this causes the wings to seat slightly higher at the forward fuselage area, thus the rattling at that section). Cheers, Albert -

Rebel U-wing transport/gunship

Thanks for complements, Madhatter and Hunter Rose! @Madhatter-The light in the cockpit is part of the light/sound module that's included with the kit (it's one of those snap-tite build & play kits marketed for kids). The weathered look on the lower surface was achieved by sprinkling salt over the pre-painted plastic and then airbrushing Vallejo Model Air Barley Grey over that (the Barley Grey is just a shade lighter, so the contrast would be subtle yet noticable). After everything dried, the salt was removed using a stiff brush and the pastel wash blended everything together. Thanks again! Cheers, Albert -

Hi All Here is my recently completed Revell U-wing transport from 'Rogue One'. This ship is in my top 5 favorite Star Wars ships (the Republic Gunship, aka LAAT/i, is my favorite all-time) as I have thing for helicopter gunships like the Vietnam War era Huey in the real world. The same individual who 3D-milled the center drive section for my AT-ACT also milled the replacement engine nozzles and rear radiator panel for this kit as it was missing altogether (Revell received the U-wing profiles/plans for production from Lucasfilm before the ship's design was finalized for the movie). Instead of doing a total repaint, I concentrated on the areas around the seams and just touched those spots up after filling them in. The markings on the fuselage were distressed with a sanding stick or hobby knife (except the gray panel on the right side- it was airbrushed over some sprinkled salt for the chipping effect). The entire ship then received a pastel chalk wash. A little heavier than I intended, especially around the engines, so we'll just chalk it up to heavy interstellar abuse. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Albert
