  1. Hi Doug I'm amaized to see what you managed to pull out of this 3 quid box of plastic bits ! When I saw the box I thought this could be a reboxing of an old heller kit by Smer but when looking at the parts , no even heller was much better than that. Have you managed to identify the origin of this kit ? Anyway this only makes your work more remarkable : Great pick (the mc72) Great looking airplane Great build and painting , you made a great model ! Having not your talent I'll wait for the Airfix model! Cheers
  2. Very interesting comparison I vote for Heller with blind eyes but that's not the experienced 52 year old modeller talking it's just the nostalgic kid, remembering his humble Humbrol & Heller-fix first kits. Dinky's and Corgi's being too expensive for my modest piggy box, all my kits would become toys, they had this double life ; first as kits to build then as toys to play with and only rarely would they end up their operational career on the shelf... So, dear Carlos don't forget once you've finished this beautifull bird to pick it up in your hand and fly it around the room before landing it on it's shelf... airplane models like to pretend they fly... Congratulations for this excellent build of a difficult model and thank you for bringing back the good memories !
  3. In fact that mud makes a lot of sense given the type of grass fields used for plane airbases during ww1 and the absence of mudguards on any type of landing gear of that time. In fact all modelers who have a ww1 bird on their shelf should pick it up, return it and paint it brown over the wheels ! that's what modelling is about, observation and research ! well done !
  4. More "scale confusion" effect for the eye the 1/48 bf109 looks like a huge 1/24 model ! confusion between scales for the observer is a sign that a kit is perfectly built congratulations
  5. It's beautyfull and you certainly got the best of this difficult heller model. If you allow me a small remark that has nothing to do with your modelling talent, but concerning the decals. I live in France as an expat and I know that 10 digits phone numbers in France are from 1996 and the type of plates on the van are of 2010, while the van itself was produced from 1948 to 1981. So the owner of the restaurant "le Marché" is also a good mechanic and we'll say that he has completely restored an old van for his restaurant's advertisement, the alternative being to ask Heller why on earth did they replace the yellow plates and the 6 digits phone numbers of the 70's ? Anyway it still is a wonderfull model and perfect build, congratulations
  6. They don't look like 1/144 models they are so nicely detailed that they look like 1/72 scale ! (you should have placed a lighter or a matchbox in the middle of your picture to convince the unbelievers !)
  7. when 1/72 is nicely built like this it lokks like a 1/48 scale model !
  8. WOW I'm pretty certain that if a poll was made about " whats your favorite yankee jet ?" among britmodelllers (and actually among all european modellers - why segregate britain from europe-) the Phantom would come top of the pops and particularly in its vietnam robe you have depicted so well or its USN livery... I like the subtle work on the panel lines and even though this plane is linked with some pretty tough images of war in Vietnam and napalm use it still is a "machine of the seventies" and as such it connects me and my generation with some very good memories of rock and pop music, of tv series like Mash, of America taking the world on the moon etc,etc the better a kit is built the stronger the power to recall memories it will carry and yours is perfect.
  9. and if you like also the Bloch 152 and you want to see something really spectacular (close to madness actually) look what this guy did http://master194.com/maquettes/tichot/mb152/
  10. I love the look of the D520 and also the Morane, though they were produced by different companies they share the long nose (due to the Hispano engines) and definetly "look french". Because of that resemblance some german pilots had a bad surprise, in particular Werner Molders who was shot down by a D520 he had mistaken for a M406.It seams the german pilots were not aware of the existence of the 520 (the plane was recent and in scarce numbers with front line units) during the battle of France, because all their reports state encounters with french M406 even when they were fighting Dewoitines. If some of you guys are really into the "french connection" allow me to remind you that Azur has a very nice D520 and its big ! (1/32) cheers
  11. the shades of blue grey look fantastic with the green what tamiya colors did you use ? (I suppose acrylics ?) cheers
  12. thx for the tips guys ! Black knight I'll try to mix Humbrol MET54 and h16. they say that metal cote.54 can be polished (?) you wouldn't have any idea how? cheers !
  13. Hello to all I have a problem finding a good gold enamel gold paint or mixing properly Humbrol 16, does anyone have a clue ? (i would like to make it look more "golden" and shiny cause humbrol 16 is a little flat...) many thx in advance.
