  1. Wow almost a month since I did an update. not done much modelling in general really. Always lose interest during the warmer weather. Anyways decals on - Used the planned scheme from italeri for the early A, they fit the acad ok but some touch ups with a brush and some red/blue were needed on tails and ventrals. The B is wearing a lesser seen scheme from a CTA sheet for a low viz jolly roger. The blandest one I could find 😂 Did some chopping of BuNo and modex numbers and did line jet 112 instead of the supplied XO jet 102. Tail art was two piece. First a solid black base, then the white overlay. Result is a bit thick but really sharp in terms of looks. Here you can see fit pre touch ups. Lined up red flash so tip is at top corner and runs along hinge panel line. Results in base of rudders which need blue. Also note edge of ventrals that need red. Weathering next...
  2. Yes mate that’s what ‘neat’ means in my reply.
  3. No worries mate glad to have tried to help. I know it was a case of horse/gate/bolted with some of the parts (eg gun vent panel) as you had followed instructions & committed to glue before we got in touch I sent you the build spec/parts list to use for this jet - however you still used the incorrect tailfins? (Double checked pm’s) Also you took it literally and I guess I should have made it clearer when I said paint the loadout in grey not white. As in paint them ghost grey, not the same gull grey as the jet... oh well. Of the bunch the VF-84 is probably the most accurate build & paint wise, only having a minor mix up with ecm bump parts The VF-41 jet should be in gull grey, not ghost grey. The VF-74 jet should be ghost greys, not all over 36495 but that’s hboss’ duff call out. What you got planned next?
  4. Plenty of other just as good if not better brands available.
  5. That’s looking really smart mate 👌🏽
  6. No idea about that mate not used them nor have them. Just seen them for sale once. However if normal tamiya decals are anything to go by... get yourself some strong setting solution.
  7. No worries mate. I meant more like questions about this particular release (4th GWH tomcat version now) rather than the base kit which is an established/known item.
  8. Yes mate. Tamiya do figure decal sheets for that kind of stuff. Has 1/35 & 1/16 on it I think. Tony
  9. To save you reading post 5 on the first page - Yes
  10. Nice one Roger mate but the pics seem a bit more grainy and lower resolution than normal?
  11. Don’t think its says mate. Be patient. A singular profipack and then subsequent dumbed down ‘weekend’ editions will no doubt follow as with pretty much every Eduard release ever.
  12. That’s strange mate. I’ve used most colours, mainly black though. Always neat and through a 0.3mm air brush. Yes a bit of tip dry during long sessions when its warm in the shed but nothing like completely stopping 🤷🏼‍♂️
  13. Ok guys so this isn’t really a whole review per say, more what’s in the box compared to the first GWH ‘D’ kit. The pictures will speak for themselves but here is a summary - Same base kit with no apparent tweaks or improvements to first release. This has new decals and the loadout parts are different. So: Still no seatbelts provided and strange main wheel tires. Instructions seem to have been tidied up. No errata/correction sheets. One strange thing is the tail felix on the box art is pixelated? Don’t think that’s a copyright issue? Perhaps nanny state gone mad because he is holding a bomb? Anyways - three decal schemes. CAG, CO and a line jet. If these are the final schemes as worn at the sunset parade then technically you shouldn’t have them loaded up with ordnance. The three jets in general would have look like this on the final cruise but minor details like the crew names may have been different? So one will need to check references. I did read somewhere that the jets were freshened up with new paint for the sunset. So I suppose you could do them dirty and tooled up as if on the last cruise or cleaner and sans bang things if wanting to depict the decommissioning show... One unique feature is the ‘autographs’ for the CO jet. I believe they were added afterwards just before she was flown to the boneyard so definitely no ordnance or probably even pylons etc if using them. Note there are more ‘signature and messages’ decals on the sheet than what is shown in the instructions, so whether GWH forgot to show where they went or just provided random extra ones I don’t know. Also the ones for the nose are on the same carrier film as the modex however no mention in instructions of to cut them off if depicting the jet before date ‘X’ etc. One thing about the CO’s jet - this particular build did not have the plate around the RIO’s boarding step, so that will need sanding off of the insert piece part G4. No mention of this in instructions. The line jet placement guide looks good as correctly shows the stencils as the same colour as the upper surfaces, both being FS35237. Whether the said printed decal stencils match their paint recommendation of Mr Color 337 remains to be seen. They are printed lighter than the stencils/data in their first VF-2 ‘D’ so looks kinda promising. Some of the writing on the decal sheet isn’t as crisp as it could be, with the data boxes being suggestions of the text in places and the plane captains for nose gear doors being a bit washed out. The Plastic. So the main difference between this and the standard D is the loadout. All the pallets/pylons and tanks etc are exactly the same as the previous kit. They have took all the Aim-54’s away which is correct as that missile was retired before the final cruise with vf-31 & 213. They have halved the number of Aim 9 & 7’s compared to the first release too. Decals for one 7 and two 9’s on the sheet. What we now get: - 4 sprues of bomb racks (also with two part ter’s) they aren’t that bad but the bombracks in the new acad kit are nicer. Note the instructions only show 2 set of racks included and will have you only fit front pallets (only get three bombs too) - a sprue from their F-15 kit with 3 gbu-12’s. Decals for only 2. - a sprue from their F-15 kit with the lantirn pod. This will match the pylon that was already in the kit. Decals provided for it. - a pair of lau-138’s. Nicely done with good details on the rails so the option to depict them empty if you like without the normal unrealistic massive prongs to mount the missile on as most rails do. (Which can be difficult to remove without marring the real rail detail - Finemolds D kit has this issue) Also they’re slide moulded on the ends for chaff dispenser detail. They do have a ridge around the nose of the rail I am not familiar with but that’s easily removed. Some pics - Pixelated tail art - Main booklet and additional placement guide. Decals overview. The breakdown suggests other bombcat type releases in the future with the generic data and sqn specific sheets. Loadout markings. Note the white ‘no steps’ for upper surfaces. should be FS36375 ? ‘Messages’ decals 85-91. Crew names are legible. Note signatures/messages with CO modex. Plane captains etc not so much... Yellow looks rather transparent. Will be better to paint than put these over black fins. Data box text a bit blurry and random. Low viz ones are the same too (not shown) Grey used for low viz stuff is a shade lighter and a bit more blue compared to previous VF-2 kit. Loadout diagram and side views of CO jet. upper/lower CO and sides of line. Upper and lower of line jet. Parts layout. Two pairs of front pallets (L) included - was same in first release. Also says two of ‘O’ (bombracks) but there are 4... Insert to show Autographs/messages on interior of bay doors for option B, the CO’s jet. Loadout - 2 x 9’s, 2 x gbu-12’s, 1 x 7, 1 x lantirn pod. Parts - Overview of pylons/pallets/ordnance - left is all standard stuff as per original. Top centre is the reduced air to air stuff. Right is new in the box for this kit. 138 Rail details. Sprue marked as just ‘LAU-138’ so don’t know if it’s new or has come from an existing kit. Rear of 138’s. Strange raised ring? Bombracks. Sprue marked as ‘F-14’. Ter’s in two halves (marked not for use but handy spares) Lantirn sprue from F-15. Gbu-12’s from F-15. Thats all for now. Any questions or requests for more detail/pics/info please ask. Tony
  14. Just turned up from china 🤗 Got lucky, bought off ebay for £42 on 17th of June so just over two weeks to get here. No charges/tax came straight through! Will get up some pics and thoughts of whats in the box later on tonight... Tony.
  15. That is amazing mate. Love Anubis. Got one in ink on the back of my forearm 🤘
  16. Yeah got those coming. None done in 1/72 so far I think... Used one on my A low viz gull vf2 build if you want to check it out 👌🏽 with a pair of ‘empty’ pylons which will be in the range too.
  17. Yes mate. Going to start selling a few bits very soon. Just getting a couple more bits sorted and setting up an instagram account to promote stuff. AA Productions should be good to go end of July early August with a dozen parts or so to start with. Thanks for your continued interest. Tony
